cant wait to see it! im working on a ravens twirl skirt for dd! shes not into football but dh will think its cute. i also mader her an orioles themed skirt for her first game- orange black and white- which can be used again next month at halloween!

I'd like to make a KC chiefs something or other for my two... will have to figure out a good place for fabric. They don't carry a lot of other team fabrics here in Texas... LOL

All the new outfits are soooooooooooooo cute. I love the back to school one, and the red/white polka dot girls are adorable! Great job!

Silly question. How do you sew on rick rack? It looks like the outfits I already have are straight stitched which would explain why zig zag was such a pain. lol

I could be doing it wrong but I sew a straight stitch down the center of the ric rac. It stays nice and flat and you can always iron it in after washing.

BTW- After your kids were their customs how do you wash them? I am petrified to throw them in the washer!

I did have an idea for some of my extra Wally World minnie dot.

I am going to make an A line skirt for myself! I thought an A line skirt with a black under skirt with ruffle would be really cute. I can wear it with a white tee and my girls will giggle with delight. I think I will keep it a secret until we get ready for Chef Mickey's!

I am not going to make it until the spring. I have lost about 75 pounds since I had my baby and I want to loose some more. (Don't we all.)

If I want to make some appliques but not sew them on the clothes how would I do it? :confused3
I'd like to do some Mickey things and use the tack it over and over instead of altering all of my clothes for our trip.
Would I need to sew them onto a fabric and then trim close or just use a stabilizer?? I'm going to try to hit Wally world this afternoon and get anything I need and see what I can come up with for myself and teenage daughter.
Thanks for any help.
Tina

What's the pattern? Sometimes if I see it, it can help. It sounds like they want you to baste the front to back. It could be to ease whatever your doing with the small dot. It can't hurt to baste and she what you've got going. also, read ahead and see what happens.

i figured it out...i had to run up to joann's once again...so i just asked them and they talked me through it...so thank you for replying...sorry i didn't reply back sooner, but i was working on it...the dress is now done...but i have to go back and take some in since my dd is so darn skinny...LOL...so i will get pics up today....

Well, here is the Wiggles outfit. I am not really finished with it. I am changing the ruffle on the pants. It will be one of the ruffles that goes on top of the hem, so I can hide part of the appliqués. They came really big so I am going to cut them in half and it will look like they are peaking out of the ruffle. I hope :) I technically am not doing the appliquéing. I had to call a seamstress to do them since I really messed up the small one I tried on the back. I should have the outfit back by Friday. I will post updated pic's when it is really finished.

Anyway- This is the Butterick apron dress. I just lined it with fabric, so I didn’t have to use the seam binding. I also pieced together the back out of all the Wiggles colors, since I could not get Wiggles fabric in time. Please be honest about what you think. I don't want DD to look silly.

*** Disclaimer*** this is the first real outfit I have made. I have never used a pattern before. It is not perfect, but I think it is ok! Also, DD will have matching bows (I make them), a white tee under it and I am not sure on shoes. I wanted M2M, but I don't have time to order them and my drawing skills are worse than my sewing skills. So I think it will be keds, with matching ribbon instead of laces.

I am also open to any ideas you all have to spice it up a bit. I don't want it to be clownish, just Wiggle Fabulous :)

She is not climbing the wall... It just looks like it:) You can see the patch I had to make to cover the botched appliqué. It was sooooo BAD!

Thanks for looking.

Thanks to everyone for your comments. And sharing your projects. I love looking at all the clothes and the happy kids wearing them they seem proud that they were made just for them. I can't wait to make more.
and for those of you who help me through the picture posting process thank you.:goodvibes

Adoptionmomma, that top it is super cute! I love how you did the back of the shirt in the patchwork! That must have taken a long time.

I think the outfit is great as it is, and once the appliques are on the jeans it will not need anything else. The colors all work well together and it looks adorable on your daughter!

Thanks for looking.

I think this is wonderful!!!! I definitely could not have done this. I also liked that you have coined a new term "Wiggles Fabulous"

My mother will iron absolutely NOTHING when she sews. It drives me crazy!! I have to make sure I press every seam. I like to use Spray starch with sizing. Any way, I was pressing away and all of a sudden it smelled terrible. I'm wondering what that horrible smell was. I looked at the can of starch, and it wasn't starch. It was spray glue. Now I make sure I double check what can is sitting on the end of the ironing board.

That's hilarious! That reminds me of the time my mom was reaching for oil to add to a chicken dish she was cooking and instead added some Pine Sol that my dad had left on the counter right next to it. :lmao: We've never let her live that down.

Not sure exactly want you mean - do you want to use the applique over and over? If you mean you really just don't want to sew it down I can tell you what I did...

find an image or draw what you want to applique...get some heat and bond paper from walmart...place it over the pattern/picture - you can see through it - and trace your picture onto the paper backing ...then follow heat and bond directions to adhere it to your fabric...THEN cut out the image paper and material all at once (much easier this way)...remove the paper and then you iron it onto your shirt or other clothing....you can run around the edges of the applique with some fabric paint.colored or clear to keep the edges from coming up...or don't bother it should stay down for a trip...not sure how well it would stand up after in the wash....

does this make sense;)

Someone please save me from 593 pages of re-reading!

Someone was making a family of coordinating shirts from one blue Mickey fabric - mom, dad, son, teenage girl. There were a bunch of photoshop pictures showing different ideas.

What was the shirt for the dad? I thought it was McCalls, but just went through all their men's shirts and can't find a thing.

Thanks!

Deb

adoptionmomma4 Your little wiggles outfit is so great I would buy that at any store. You did such an amazing job.:thumbsup2

Your wiggles outfit is Wiggle-riffic!! Love it...I wish I sewed when my girls were into the Wiggles. My dd, Ireland wore a little pink and black top, little black swing skirt, and knee high black patent boots to their concert. She looked so cute. We were in the front row, right in front of Murray, and he told her he loved her outfit, and she said, I got dressed up, just for you Murray...:confused3 I thought Anthony was her favorite...what gives...

Okay, I've got 50 questions (okay, maybe not quite 50 but...)

1. Where can I get patterns or directions for:
a. the cute tank a-line top that wraps around to the back and ties.
b. the gorgeous three tier tutu skirts
c. the patchwork twirly skirts

2. There are a lot of absolutely amazing hand pieced appliques, where is everyone getting their patterns from? Are you all doing these by hand?!

3. Where is everyone getting a lot of their fabrics? I can NEVER find any of the Minnie dot!

4. The Christmas overalls are fantastic! I would love to know where the Mickey and Minnie heads/faces are coming from...

5. Someone has an outfit in Minnie fabric that wraps around the back and has eyelet lace under the "skirt" part of the wrap around, I'd love to do that on a pair of overalls! It would look adorable! Any ideas on how to do that?

You ladies rock!

I only have one picture to share so far, I'm trying to plan out outfits for DD for both our Sept. and Dec. trips this year, I've got to get sewing!

Here's the only picture I have of overalls I did for Diego Live...

We are off to Cheerleading in five minutes but . . .

Here is the Pooh Pillowcase dress I did for Sophee. The arms are way to big for her but it will fit perfectly in March. I used antique ribbion I had been saving for years! I think it looks nice together. Hannah is getting a halter pooh dress to match. That is next on the agenda.

Here are the fabrics we found for Hollywood and Vine. We are doing a circus theme Mickey mouse twirl skirt with matching tank!

Here is my latest CASE outfit. It was my first attempt at the halter style dress. At first my older DD said she didn't want one but then she saw it on her sister and decided she'd take one too. :)

Thanks for all the great ideas.

This might be good bye for me for a little bit. We are going out of town later this week and our older dog is sick so I'm going to take her to the vet later (wish us luck). I can't even imagine how much I'm going to miss out on while we're gone! :scared1:

I hope your dog gets better! Have a great trip!

I am buying a bunch of custom bottlecaps from ebay to make DD4 necklaces to match her custom outfiits. Where do you buy your beads ro get them at the best price? What is easy and best to string them on? I love the beads with the little rhinestones in them, but don't know what they are called? Any advice you can give me would be much appreciated!

I buy most of my beads on eBay. I'm not sure which ones you mean with the rhinestones - maybe rondelles (sp)? I use the swarovski crystals (4mm) and cats eye beads (6mm) the most. As far as stringing - well - you could just use a strech cord from the hobby store that is made for beading and tie it off - or if you want a clasp you use beading wire and such. Do you have a local bead store? I know the one here is so helpful - and will actually show you how to do it. Sorry I can't explain better - I am kinda a novice at necklace making - I bead barrettes mostly.
