How many customs do you take for your trip?

Loved all the outfits shared from this weekend!

I don't remember all posters names, but I know there were nice twirls skirts, twirl dresses (the really long one on the child with long blond hair especially stood out to me) and someone did what I've been thinking of doing- bows on the crocs! My family only wears Crocs in WDW so after I figured out the girls' wardrobe I'll get cracking on bows for the crocs (not that I intend to make them, lol).

is the IRONING!!!!!!! I have spent all morning ironing DD customs after washing. I don't like ironing, I forgot how much I disliked ironing.... now I am remembering

I don't like ironing but I *hate* wrinkles so I iron everything dd wears anyway....even t-shirts.

How many customs do you take for your trip?

We'll be there six days. I'm taking 8 customs plus the custom Snow White dress for the Halloween party. Everything will have matching bows and accessories.

I've been sewing away since I finally found this thread! I hope to post pics soon. With al the talk of the brother 6000 (or whatever number it is), I'm thinking I really want to get that machine! My machine is about 15 years old, and it works fine, but it is very basic. I'd love a machine that threads itself and has a drop in bobbin! All the stitches would just be an added bonus! If I keep up the pace, I think that I'm gonna ask for one for Christmas.

I can't wait to see what you create!!

Who is the airline employee in your family? DH is an airline pilot.

DH is a jet engine mechanic for Delta.

Up until just a couple weeks ago, I didn't iron. I just put wrinkled clothes back in the dryer. Now, I'm very aware of wrinkles and am ironing MUCH more. I love the look of clean crisp clothing.

I'm sure it's just the progression of this thread's mind control

A great big to my sister, Heather, hkite, for shirring this for me, even though she was feeling really bad last week! I love you!!!!

Here's the Lilo dress that gave me the fits while I was trying to shirr it, modeled by my beautiful little daughter, Lydia Rose:

I did one of those little ribbon loop things on the back to help hold it all up, and I think that style looks really cute!

I mixed my characters, and used Flounder ribbon for the straps. Lydia is absolutely thrilled with the dress!

For those of you who don't have a serger, what are you doing about the raw edges? I tried the zig-zag method and it didn't go well.

How many customs do you take for your trip?

For our 10 day trip we are taking 14 customs for each child (2) so 28 and then 2 sets of matching fam outfits from the Disney Store for me, Dh, DD, DS, DMIL, DFIL and 1 set of custom family shirts for an image on the Design Board and the Halloween costumes (Alice in Wonderland theme) Oh and 2 princess dress--one for Princess Storybook Breakfast and one for Perfectly Princess Tea Party. WOW THATS ALOT---Hope DH doesn't count and I have ideas for another pillowcase dress but not sure if DD would have time to wear it and then I have to come up with a coordinating one for DS.

Thank you, I have to agree, I think her hair is gorgeous too! (I've never been good at the false modesty when talking about my kids or neices and nephews!)

I got the fabric at Joann fabrics in the clearance section about a year ago. It was pretty cheap, so I bought the whole thing!

the dress i am making says to pin front to back at side seams, placing upper edge of back at small dot on front. Baste...does this mean to baste the sides?

I don't have a serger and I cut the edges with the pinking shears. It has worked for me but I am thinking that the serged edges would look more professional.

I have filled up the iron with water three times since I started sewing. Let me tell you that I have never once filled the iron since we have been married. DH does his own ironing and he does it. I just Downey spray things and am done with it!

Your daughter's hair is the same color that my sister's was growing up and so naturally I think it is beautiful! Your daughter looks like she has some nice waves. My sister's hair was stick straight on the top and curly underneath. My mom thought a short cut would make it curlier all over and my sister still calls that the kindergarten disaster! The entire year people thought she was a boy.

Amanda, I would think that the basting refers to baste where you just pinned. But I'll wait for an expert to confer.

Hehe, I am in Southwest Michigan, pretty close to the border, about 30 minutes or so from Elkhart. I get down there a few times a month usually. There are quite a few of us around here, aren't there! I was in Mishawaka on Friday, and thought of checking out the Grape Rd Walmart, but I ran out of time. I did pick up some patterns at Hancock's though. If you were in Hancock's you would have noticed us, I had the two little girls that were running amuck as I ignored them and looked for patterns!




When I was in Hancock's in Mishawaka the other day, I asked the lady if the ruffler attachment they had on clearance would fit my Viking machine. She assured me that it would not, and that it would not fit my Singer either. She then tried to sell me a full priced rufflere for $30. My son and I decided to take our chances with the $7 clearance ruffler anyway. Guess what?? It works beautifully on ALL our machines! Even the Viking. I do think that the lady at Hancock's was just trying to be helpful, but she didn't really know what she was talking about.

Oh you are so lucky on the ruffler foot, I paid the $30, at the Mishawaka Hancock!!!. I was asking the lady about the ruffler foot the other day and she of course had no idea what I was really talking about, I even had my other foot to compare it to and she couldn't really tell me which one would work. I finally just picked one out on my own, as my children were running amuck of course!

I may take the cake on this one.

We are going for 9 days. Each of our girls are bringing 23 outfits. So 46 outfits. Oh dear Lord! Eight of those are princess costumes.(Ariel, Jasmine, Belle, Sleeping Beauty, Alice, Tink, Cinderella and Snow White) The total is 38. I do have six and a half months to complete this massive project.

I will say on our June trip we brought 44 outfits and the girls wore 43 outfits.

DH does not care if I bring the kitchen sink this time. Thank goodness for Magical Express. This time around I am not blowing huge bucks at Gymboree!!!!
