Okay guys, be gentle, I havent posted any sewing for awhile, but here goes.

Animal kingdom will never be the same.

That is bling on the shirts, and if you do decide to buy the princess things from the Disney Store, you might want to think about sewing them on. We ironed them on and they fell off a few days later. We did follow the directions... (ignore the blue paint, my dd dropped a bottle on the porch while they were painting )

Also, we made shoe bows to make our crocs prettier! And we even did them in pink, red, black and this color.

This is the first outfit I made for AK.

Jesse is appliqued, but not the best job...

Not too many ruffles here. I guess having older kids I have to go more with their likes. I'm still working on the pirate outfits and too many more.

I'm so excited to share my next attempt.. then I'll need to go back and look at all the new designs! :)

Here's our epcot outfit!

This is just adorable and so is your DD in it!!! How much fun will this day be wearing this to Epcot! Great job!!!

Heeehheee ...
Another great example of US knowing more about sewing, than the people working in these stores ...
like ... one time, last year = a Jo@nn's STORE MANAGER told me that "there's no such thing as ELASTIC THREAD! I know EVERYTHING WE SELL HERE & there's no such thing!" ...
She YELLED at me (as if, she just could NOT possibly be wrong) "well, THAT's a notion, NOT a thread! Since it's in the NOTION SECTION, and NOT in the THREAD SECTION." ...
I just calmly turned around & walked away. argue+brick wall=silly ...
I only showed it to her, IN HOPES that she MIGHT remember it, IF anyone ever asked where it was, in the future. NO sense in someone else getting treated that way, just for asking, ya know?~! I'm pretty sure she won't forget that incident very easily.
FYI = There's another brand/CLEAR in their crochet/knitting/yarn area, too ... heheeee :rolleyes1 and they had pre-shirred fabric, too! :cool2:

Glad you taught her a lesson...why people are rude to customers is beyond me...really what else is there to say about this! :sad2:

Here's my latest "project" for back to school.

I am not sure if I like it or not.:confused3

.
Wowza......awesome....love the idea of mixing the top and bottoms...but you know...if you hate it that much...I'll take it off your hands...no problem!!! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I like your stitching and use of colors for the stitching. It looks like you did great work.
The only thing that I can think is I usually do the outline stitching after I've fused the cut out applique to my base fabric or garment. Was this a practice piece or will you stitch it to the dress in another way?

BTW - Wow, your castle looks a lot like a drawing of Cinderella's Castle I used as a source for the applique I did on this outfit. :)

magic1.jpg

BTW - I usually don't do such over the top ruffles but this was a special request for a little girl who is very much a pink and ruffles girly girl. LOL
Thanks for you help Lisa....I have to attach it to a dress and it still has the "heat and bond" on the back. I was going to cut around the shape (leaving about 1/4 inch) and iron it on the dress then zig-zag around it. The dress is light pink and I was going to use black thread? Or should I use pink? I thought that would show up too much?

I just absolutely love  your castle creation and all the ruffles and pink...just to die for :cloud9: Am I too old to wear it????? :rotfl2: You are so good!

Okay, so does this look better to ya'll? It's with a different stabilizer and I think it looks better, so that might have been the problem. I havent done any but this one, so I dont know if it will keep working okay or not.

This is for Glendamax, so don't spill the beans! It's a secret.
Oh I bet Glenda will love it!!! Did your machine do that? I saw the machines that make appliques....very cool!!! :thumbsup2

My dd with Minnie. She REALLY wanted something from the Minnie Dot fabric so I quickly made this up while she was asleep to wear the next day.

I am still trying to figure this out...you are in Disney and you are making stuff in the middle of the night? What did you do, pack your sewing machine??? That's dedication right there folks!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: In any case...cute dress! :thumbsup2

I am going to attempt to try an applique!! I have a black mickey head ironed onto fusible webbing which I will iron onto the t-shirt. Should I also iron on a stabilizer to the front inside of the t-shirt? If so what kind?

I definitely recomment stabilizers on knits. It isn't always needed on heavier fabric like denim but even then I prefer to use it for a nicer finished product. I use Totally Stable. It irons on and tears off easily leaving only a little behind. I usually only need one layer but more layers can be used as needed to get the stability necessary for smooth stitching and no puckers.

BTW - If the wearer of the t-shirt is sensitive to "itchies", I also recommend using an iron on interfacing, such as Fusi-Knit, to cover the stitching on the inside once you are done. I cut the interfacing to general size of the applique and then lay it on the tee over the stitching (the tee is inside out). I trim it to about 1" of the outer stitching and fuse in place. The Fusi-Knit may shrink a little during the first washing so I rinse mine in warm water before use and hang to dry. Sometimes the edges come loose after several washings but I just iron it again and it will hold for several more washings. Otherwise it's a simple step to take to keep the tee comfy and also makes the inside look neater. :)

Also - should I buy one of the dull needles to do this with or stick to what I have?

I recommend the ball point needles. They are specifically designed for use on knits so the yarns of the knit aren't cut during stitching - which could cause runs in the knit and even holes.

Those tops sound ADORABLE!!! Can you show us a pic of them???

I used the Ariel to make this top

The appliques come off very easy....thanks for letting me know they are on sale...guess what I will be doing tomorrow??? ;)

How did you make the bows for the crocs. My kids are big crocs wearers and that would be a perfect alternative to new shoes for every outfit!
Here's the tank pictures.

Minnie is on a white tank. The lighting makes everything look yellowed.

Here's Tink. Now you can see why I "needed" the fabric.

No, I am not that dedicated, I live here. "Liv N Disney" :cool1: My DD thought EVERYONE goes to Disney every weekend. I have had a hard time convincing her that is NOT the case:rolleyes1

Here's another look at the Tink fabric.

They also had Ariel on a purple tank, but I didn't get it. By the way, I joked to my DH that I needed to go into town to Walmart to get more fabric and he only complained about the gas not the money for fabric:love:

twob4him Oh I bet Glenda will love it!!! Did your machine do that? I saw the machines that make appliques....very cool!!! :thumbsup2
Thank you! Yes, I have one of those Disney machines, but it hasnt been nice to me:rolleyes1 until now. Thank goodness it didnt mess up this shirt.

Both of you are so funny. I was thinking the exact same thing. HOW DO YOU whip out an outfit in Disney?????

It was just like making a hairbow, just for the shoe. I even used the boa feathery thing on it to give it some fun.

Now you can attach it to the shoe in many different ways.
1. The first way is to buy some of those shoe things from Oriental Trading company that work just like jibbitz.
2. The second way is to attach snaps to the shoe, I used ribbon, and then attach and reattach the selected bow.
3. Or the third way, the redneck way as Umama says, is to just use simple old fashioned bread ties, or garbage bag ties. Hey it actually works, its easy to remove, doesnt cost anything, and they cant feel it in their shoe. Who knew?:rotfl2:

Oh yeah...look at that...your name is Liv N Disney....I get it!!! :thumbsup2 Does your daughter want to adopt us? My whole family...including myself...we could then join you in Disney...every weekend...:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I promise to sew outfits!!!! ;)

Jajone...I sure hope my Kmart has some left on sale!!

Subscribing...don't want to lose this thread...too many fantastic ideas and so many talented people!

I just got home from work and school supply shopping and came on the board to get caught up when I saw everyone's creations. I have one word for you all - WOW!!!:cool1:

I am so tired from doing a 12 hour shift on a broken foot, that I'm not able to post a single reply to everyone, I will do that tomorrow. Good night ya'll (with my southern belle twang).

I'm going to have custom clothes and new sewing machines dreams.

I need your mental support, I am bidding on o'alls for DS on that site and they will be perfect for 1900 park fare. If some of you recall I was having a hard time finding something for him to "match" DD. Well the acution ends in like 20 minutes and I am in a bidding war over it. Wish me luck---hope I am noyt bidding against anyone on here. I really want it and it is a resell so getting another is not an option.:sad1:

Here we go! Okay, Okay, I know these aren't Disney, but she'll wear these at Disney World so they're Disneyesque.

OH! Congrats to Castle Creations of the great auction result! :woohoo:
