Very very cute! What pattern did you use? It doesn't look too big, so I would probably leave it. That way she can wear a shirt under it also and it won't be too tight. As for the bows, hard to say, I like the one but a few more might be cute too! Or ric-rac in addition to the one bow, just a thought!

I used McCalls 5370 - yea - I was thinking about the whole undershirt thing. I planned on her wearing one for school (since this is NOT dress code - LOL) - and figured if DH thought this one "showed too much" as she moved I could put a tank under. It is a pull over style so if it is too tight it would probably be hard to get on and off. I need to place some ric-rac and see how it looks - I was thinking about it - but then just wanted to be done! LOL!

Lori123- HannahMontana marathon? I'M stuck with Drake and Josh on Disney alllll day. Well my boys have been entertained! Norah has been underfoot all day! I'm struggling trying to teach myself how to do a pillowcase dress. My goodness, they are easy and fun to make! Oh but your bright twirly dress is adorable!!! Her hair is beautiful!

Oh YES!! In fact we are recording it as well - DD LOVES her. I have two Hannah outfits in the works. Can't wait to see a pic of the pillowcase dress! Thanks for the comment on her hair. She donated to locks of love almost 2 years ago - she is almost ready to donate again.

Anyone looking for Pirate shoes, I just picked these up at Marshalls today. They were $14.99. I was going to have customs painted for our October cruise, but these are really cute and what a steal!

Those are PERFECT! What a find!

My "12 yard" bolt had 11 and 1/2 yards. I don't think the cutter was thrilled with me for wanting it all :rolleyes1. I think she went on break after she measured my fabric.

EGAD!! I didn't even think of having her measure it..I guess I can't complain, for the price, even if I got 5 yards, it would be worth it..

Nope not on clearance...dang and I was so excited I hate to think someone out there got a better deal than me :sad2: Oh well that's the way it goes sometimes....The really nice patio/pool place next door was having a bang out sale and I got 2 of those tilty loungers for $21....I haven't been able to find them for less than $70 so it was still worth the trip:)

Was the princess toille on clearance? Some Hobby Lobbies clearanced it around here. And, some didn't. I asked at one the other day, and the lady working was EXTREMELY offended that I would DARE suggest that fabric had been clearanced! Two of my local Hobby Lobbies told me that the fabric is still an orderable item, so it wouldn't be clearanced. They seemed to think the other stores just messed up. However, I'm thinking they just haven't gotten the memo yet!

The Walmart near me is a little on the small side. There have actually been times where the workers from Sporting Goods come over to cut fabric.
All the 3-4 walmarts around us are pretty big (called SUPERSTORES, right?), and they STILL don't keep people there to cut fabrics! ... It seems like 4 out of 5 times I go to get fabric, someone from jewelry or electronics has to cut fabric for me ... I think this lessening of the schedule in that department MIGHT be part of the "scale-down" walmart's doing
one store does have a third shifter 3-4 nights a week, though. :) ...

I love the pirate shoes.. I am going to have to hit marshalls tomorrow.

Does someone point me int he right direction for cute bows to match the smiles around the work fabric. I am mixing it with denim. I am not going to have time to make them before I leave.

I LOVE the pink and brown!!! That is my favorite color combo!!!

OK, everyone sit down, I actually sewed today! Now, get the shocked look off of your face and see what I did. Now keep in mind I haven't sewn since Junior High and that was __ number of years ago! (Oh, my gosh, that is too scary to count! )
The inseam is just pinned because I couldn't decide on ric rac or no ric rac. I am a ric rac kind of girl and I add it to everything, so I wanted some other opinions. (Besides my husband's, who when I showed him the jeans, he said, "is that what you want them to look like, or are you going to do something else to them?") What does he know!!

My husband would say the same thing. He is sooo fashion illiterate (sp?).:lmao:

I like the ric rack, it gives it that umph.

Oh man, I'd love some of those for Zoe. I have plans for a pirate themed decoupage jean set for Zoe. I'd originally thought of doing a twirl skirt but decided the jeans will be more practical for school. Of course since I haven't started either, plans could change. LOL

****princesssfws was the first to PM me thanks!****
I thought I would post a pic of a few of the many barrettes/hair bling I have made - some of the basic styles. I would love to - for free of course :) - make the first person to PM me one in the colors of thier choice! pixiedust:

I am a total lurker of this thread, but alas, I cannot sew :( I found these Little Einstens overalls at Target tonight and picked them up for my dd. What would you do with these to "customize" them and look unique and super cuter for our MGM day. I have basic sewing skills, LOL

You could do the ruffle around bottom or for no sew do the tag ribbons using fabric glue. Just some ideas to start.

I would love to know this as well, if anyone can help out :flower3:

I would love to have some sort of coordinating bows for my friends around the world outfit!

TIA!

Thank you Lori123. Sometimes it pays to not have anything exciting to do (except read the dis of course) on a Saturday night.

Well ...I'm not sure. Something at the very bottom. "Shirley" whatever you come up with, it'll be adorable! You can use pink and purple rocket applique, glittery ric-rac, lace, ribbon, a bedazzler, etc. Of course you'll need matching hair bows (the bigger the better) and possibly matching socks or custom shoes with musical notes on them (I'm probably kidding). Maybe add a fun belt or replace the straps with custom ones making it a halter??

Please post the end result!!

Your welcome!! Here is a pic of your just created bling. I made it with pink and purple swarovski crystals and purple cat eye beads.

Hi -

Does anyone have any simple ideas for making a regular plain old guys tshirt a little girlier for the girls? we are making family shirts for our trip, and i got us all navy blue shirts that we will put an iron on on....now is there a way to add some ribbon on the sleeve or anything that adds a touch but isnt tooooo girlish????

thanks so much, wendy

I know it's out there somewhere, but I can't find the pattern number for the apron tops/dresses. Would someone help me please!!:scared:

:thumbsup2
YAY!!!!

I did my first of many minniemouse-dots fabric. And my first applique.

This is pattern #5419 McCalls 99 cents at Walmart with my ad from Hancock ;)

I looked at that pattern and I should say it is much cuter in the colors you chose than the ones on the pattern:thumbsup2

Hi everyone,
I have been doing some sewing today. I have to make a Spongebob, and a Bratz outfit for my professor's grand-daughters. This is the Bratz, it's done except for the bling I'm going to add to the top, just a few sparklies here and there.

Please don't let my kids see this fabric. :sad2: I said no sewing anything but Disney items for the next month!;)

Wow, that is too cute! Great job!

I definitely recommend fusing the applique to the fabric before stitching. :) I've pricked myself too often and bled on my sewing so learned to use pins only when nothing else would work. I use Heat N Bond Lite and have been very satisfied with the results. I tried a few different brands but that is my favorite - plus I like that it's available by the yard from JoAnn's so the buyer can get as little or as much as wanted.
Oh, let me tell you of a story of appliquing that went REALLY wrong. :scared: :scared: It shifted and left a BIG mess, so please don't let this happen to you! Use the heatbond...

And one more.

Your outfits are so cute!

oh i would so rather be sewing right now...my garage sale is not going well...3 of us on my road got together and put an ad in the paper and i thought yesterday was slow...today is worse...no one is coming and it is making my day tooooo long...we are supposed to be open til 5pm...we will see about that...i want to get started my the dresses for my girls so i can post pics...

BTW~to everyone's cute outfits that i just saw they are all so darn cute...i have to go back and read through some posts that i missed all of yesterday...
I'm so sorry about your garage sale. I know how frustrating that is to put that much work into getting ready and not have the people show up.

My dd saw this and she says she LOVES it. That's impressive coming from her, she's not really a pink kind of girl!

I had too many pages to catch up on. Wow, ya'll go fast. I was off the internet for a day and a half and it took me awhile to get to the end of this thread. My Sprint card is being nasty and I'm trying to decide whether to keep it or throw it out the door.

There were more I wanted to comment on, but my quote didnt pick them up.

I love that Treat me like a Queen. I need one of those shirts... There were more, but I cant remember them all.:sad2:

Really?!
and I just saw it there 2-3 days ago ...
I did see some at the ninth street store (same day), though!
I THINK it had been marked down (?) :)
I didn't check Gull Road or Plainwell.
but I PROMISE, it wasn't me!
I was hunting down Wonder-Under, not fabrics.
At ninth street, I did buy up all their Wonder-Under ... Shaver was out.
Good luck on the red dot sheer, though! ...
I was there on Wednesday night, and it looked like they had an entire bolt, then, yesterday, Heather went to buy it, and it was GONE! POOF! VANISHED!
I haven't tried Sturgis yet. (I think it's pretty cool we live so close to each other though!) You weren't in Hobby Lobby on Tuesday were you? I saw someone in lime green crocs with a lime green blouse, and when they turned the other way, my kids and I did the focker watch signal! Ok, we are a REALLY weird bunch!
Ok - DD took time out from the Hannah Montana marathon to try on this dress for me. See - don't worry even at 7 she lets me dress her up! :) I did have to modify the choices though! It turned out a little big around the chest - I am making another one and I think I will make it smaller. Funny thing is that she is wearing about a size 6 now - and I used a size 4 pattern because I know they run big and the measurements matched up - but it was still big. Does it look ok - or should I find a way to tighten the chest area? Also - I was contemplating the blue bows along the last seam - what do you all think? Should I add them around? I would love ANY and ALL opinions!;)

4ot3ho8.jpg

I think it looks great, not too big at all. I'm undecided on the bow.

Mine too!! "Tina, you fat lard, come get some dinner!!" :rotfl2:

I just KNEW you were one of "our kind of people"! In case you didn't know, there are two kinds of people in this world, those that get Napoleon Dynamite, and those that do not. I can be friends with both, but the ones that get it are more fun! :rotfl:

Nope not on clearance...dang and I was so excited I hate to think someone out there got a better deal than me :sad2: Oh well that's the way it goes sometimes....The really nice patio/pool place next door was having a bang out sale and I got 2 of those tilty loungers for $21....I haven't been able to find them for less than $70 so it was still worth the trip:)

Ok, is it mean to be happy you didn't find it on clearance, because I haven't either?? I just know as soon as it does, the ladies working there are going to grab it up!
