:cool1: :cool1: I'M ALL CAUGHT UP!!! I was beginning to wonder if I would ever be caught up on this thread again! To everyone that I missed, there were some really incredible outfits posted these last few days! Great job!

And, I guess what my son was just doing?????? SEWING!!!! On his brand new sewing machine, bought for him in part, by his wonderful Aunt Heather! (hkite) We even bought a ruffler foot today at Hancock's, it was half price, so it was only $7!!! We were both really excited! I'm not sure what he's planning on ruffling, but it is fun to play with! So far, he has made a fabric shopping bag. We are trying not to use so many of the plastic ones. He also picked out a bunch of patterns at Hancock Fabrics today. (Where they only had TWO McCall's pattern books!) We'll see how he does. I will have to show him "Tom's" creations, maybe I can talk him into sewing for his sisters. :cheer2:

Sorry for so many posts.

I can't get the pics to show up!! No need to apologize for so many posts, we love to see the pics!!

O.k, so we've had a Lisa and Amy roll call, it looks like we need to have a Riley too!

Until I finally saw Utahmomma say she had a son named Riley I was starting to worry that I was the only one with a human kid named Riley!

My Riley is a girl and she will be 10 on Oct. 1st!

My dgd2 is named Rylee!

Num chuck skills, computer hacking skills, sewing skills....:rotfl:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Gotta love Napoleon!!!!!

Oh no! They are showing up on my computer. Can anybody see them? I spent forever trying to get them to work and I thought that I had figured it out. Boo hoo!

They aren't showing up for me--only the red box with the x in it. I really want to see them!:)

Anyway a couple of questions if it's ok. First do any of you make matching outfits for yourselfs? I always thought it was the cuitest thing to have matching outfits with the kids. Oh one more question. How do you guys keep track of were you are on here.

I have been making myself a matching t-shirt of tank top with scraps of the leftover fabric from my daughter's outfits. Usually something simple, like just a Mickey head embroidered on.

A lot of people just dot down the page number they stopped on. Happy reading!

I think I'm going to have a nervous breakdown. I just realized that I am going to have a kid in double digits and my baby is going to kindergarten all in just a couple of weeks!:scared: When did that happen?

My baby is going to kindergarten too! We meet her teacher Monday. I wish I would have discovered these custom outfits years ago: thankfully she still likes them.

I think you need the pictures at an open site like photobucket. The site you have them hosted on now may be password protected so we can't see them. I think they can probably help you on the technical board if you still need assistance. I really want to see them too!

That Chip N Dale fabric is super cute! Ds and I love them (well they are my favorites and Ds thinks they are hilarious). If anyone sees any in a Brick & Morter let us know.

I like the Bratz outfit.

You always have the cutest white textured/printed fabrics. Where do you find them? I searched all over Hancocks today and couldn't find a white I liked

I usually get mine from the quilting section where the cottons are. I pick up 3 or 4 of them, and look at the compared to other fabrics. Sometimes they may look white, but they are off white..Yuck...But I found the one in the Bratz outfit at Walmart. It looks like it's covered in little bubbles and it's a nice sturdy cotton...

YAY!!!!

I did my first of many minniemouse-dots fabric. And my first applique.

This is pattern #5419 McCalls 99 cents at Walmart with my ad from Hancock ;)

She loves it and I had a hard time taking it off her so "it wouldn't be dirty when we see Minnie".

Things I "learnt"...
1. The dots wont turn pink
2. Applique is easy if you secure the applique to your top. Not by pinning.
3. Rick Rack will hide a somewhat imperfect seam.:rolleyes1
4. We need yellow, black, or red CROCs. and her Hair bows for this outfit need to be BIGger and contain black (a mickey head in the center?) Somehow there needs to be an accent of yellow? In the hair bow? A button? A bow on the minnie? ((edited to add- I DID put a little yellow bow on top of the applique to the left a little...cuuuute!)
5. I love this pattern.
6. I'm wayyyyy more confident

This is adorable. I made a minnie twirl for kirsta and was thinking of spray painting a pair of canvas sneakers yellow. If I can get a good deal on yellow crocs, that might be better yet.

I really like that fabric combo in the first pic! And there is that wonderful princess fabric that I like! Very nice job!

I think green would be a good idea and I  the Yoda fabric. DH saw it as he was telling me goodnight and he really likes it too! Good job!

Never seen it, but would love to have some! I don't know why, but I think it's absolutely adorable!

Amy, Pat and CutiesNana all are wonderful DISigners. They've done lots of stuff for me. I've not put them all onto shirts yet, but they are super nice to work with.

I love the idea of using that on pjs! Do you mind if I copy your idea and make some for dd16?

Wow that looks amazing! Great job for your first time!

My girls had a fit over that Bratz fabric, but I didn't buy any. I could not envision what to make with it. I'm so lame about ideas, so I hope you don't mind if I somewhat steal your design? It won't be exact, but at least I have an idea of what I could do with it now, besides a plain twirl skirt or pillowcase dress!

Great job! I think a bow would look nice, you could make it to match a ruffle if you decide to attach one to the bottom. It would look cute as a top w/pants, but it looks nice as a dress too! I think that is perfect for Akershus!

I don't mind if you borrow my design...I borrow designs all the time...:rolleyes1

The dis won't let you link to kodak gallery. Use photobucket and they'll show up :)

Pat is super nice. She has done a couple things for me and has great invites to all those character meals.

It's these designs that got me off track this "sewing" trip. I planned on doing the casual "Princess" dresses I did last year. But when I saw some of these, I had to do tshirts with twirly skirts this list got me hooked on. I still have to do a summer Jasmine outfit tho'. I think I'll figure that out this week.

Help!!! I did my first applique mickey head last night. I appliqued on to a cotton (like 5% spandex) t-shirt and had some problems with puckering. I don't know what I did wrong! Any suggestions? I need to find the charger for my camera so I can post a pic.

You guys are way too talented. It almost makes me want to go out and get a sewing machine and start sewing. But who am I kidding I don't know how to sew:lmao: . Anyway a couple of questions if it's ok. First do any of you make matching outfits for yourselfs? I always thought it was the cuitest thing to have matching outfits with the kids. Of course since I've had kids and before too I've always been pleasantly plumb. Anyway I'm on a diet and have lost 32lbs only 80 something to go. Anyway I have managed to go off the diet and I'm having a really hard time getting back on it. So I thought that if I get a matching outfit for me and my DD mayby it will motivate me to lose for my Dec trip. Enough rambling. Does anybody know if anybody does outfits for kids and adult? Thanks and sorry for the rambling. I really enjoy this thread. Oh one more question. How do you guys keep track of were you are on here.

Congratulations on the weight loss. I have to start seriously thinking of that now. I was in a wheelchair and cast for 6 months and now that I'm semi sort of walking normal again, it's time to take care of the weight.

I don't like to sew for myself. I can't seem to get the fit right. I may embellish tshirts or something. I usually have to alter clothes I've bought. The waist is always too big, the sleeves too long. I have more fun trying to make clothes for the kids.

Sometimes cotton can be tough because it stretches. Did you put a stablizer underneath? You can get iron on tear away. It stays on long enough for you to do your applique, then you can tear it off when your done. I've also used a peice of regular interfacing to. It should make a big difference.

You can use embroidery thread for applique. It comes on larger spools. Coats & Clark makes some. JoAnn's also carries Sulky and Gutterman brands. Just don't use this for regular sewing! It won't hold up when it's stitched in just one little line (as you would sewing).

If you're putting the applique on a knit shirt, you may want to get some ball point needles. They're slightly dull. I forgot to change needles on one thin shirt and basically it perforated around the design, which ripped right off. My kids heard some words that day! ::eek: I'm sure I've forgotten a couple of other times too, and things have been fine, but just in case...

I tried to hem a pair of pj pants (knit). The hem puckered and looks terrible! Do I need to use the special "dull" needle? Maybe that was my preoblem. I also had lots of trouble feeding the fabric over the feed dog. It just would take it. Could you give me a little advice? Thanks!!

DD decided to be a pirate for halloween today. (YEA!! Tutu twirl & corset!!!) I said little brother could be a pirate too. She said "NAH, he's going to be my parrot!" I thought that was a great idea! So DS (he'll be almost 2) is going to be a parrot - with feathers and all!!

Princess twirl skirt outfits.

Your kids (and of course the skirts) are adorable! Great job Obsessedwiththemouse! Beautiful appliques!

So, I just got back from my quilt shop and I am now $36 poorer! I don't even want to add up all of the $30 JoAnn, $25 wal-mart, $50 Hancock, etc. trips I have made lately!

I got some of the sock monkey fabric to make my dd5 a back to school set and I also got a handy little tool! It is a bias tape maker. I can't wait to use it. There are a couple of outfits that I have wanted to make, but I wanted to be able to use a coordinating fabric instead of the packaged bias tape.

Ok, I'm hearing lots about bias tape. While working on a shirt last night, one of the options for the neckline was to use bias tape but to hold elastic. Is this the same stuff? Can you also use it decorative? Thanks!

Great job! Star Wars is big in our house. My kids would appreciate an outfit just like it! Your mom would be very proud of you!

I just got back in from taking an Applique Class!!! I no longer fear the applique or the different stitches on my machine!!! They even tought me how to use my ruffler foot!!! YEA!!! :cheer2:

Any tips to share with us "rookies"??

Wow! Whata great idea for someone going off to college! And your purse is adorable! Great job without a pattern!

Nice work UtahMama! Must be that self threading needle ;) . Your daughter looks very happy in her new outfit!

It's great! I'm sure you'll get an A+ ;) ! I think adding the bling is a great idea!

Great job!

Here are some I did for DD last year before Christmas (or Chrismouse LOL).

xmouse3.jpg

Thanks so much for sharing your directions! I have a question, if you open the inseam, is this where you stop "patching?"--just before the inseam? The patches wrap around the outside of the legs, right? So the bottom of the jeans are left unfinished--to fray? Am I grasping it? I'd like to try this for Chrismas. Your daughter (and of course outfit) is beautiful!

I think it looks great just the way it is. How old is your DD? Maybe adding some fun bows to her hair would be just enough. Less is more, right?

I hope I didn't overlook anyone. I was sewing late last night and my feet swelled up terrible (I am 38 weeks pregnant) so I am paying for it today and really shouldn't spend too much time with my legs bent. I had to speed through posts just to catch up. Keep up the great work--It amazes me how far we have all come.

I downloaded them to photobucket, now let me give this a try.

DH's wonderful aunt made DD2 a Disney dress for each night of our trip. It was our fist trip and we had a blast. (I cannot sew at all).

This one she wore to HDDR.

OOOH, sorry it's so big.

I dont know how you all are cranking out outfits left and right (UM !). It took a day for me to buy the fabric. A day to cut out pattern peices. A day to pin pattern on fabric and cut. A day to do the bodice. A day to applique. A day to do the skirt and a Day to put it all together. A day to take pics and upload. And since I have two girls...I gotta do it all over again with the second dress! :rotfl2:

Here are the others.
