Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 3

Help guys! What do you think? This is for a BOY! I usually do patches on the leg, but not so many. I have had this thought in my head for a while now though and really want to do it. Is it too girly?

I usually do one front leg with some patches, not nearly this many though. I am unsure if I would wrap it around to the back or not. I really want Michael Miller ironwork in black and white but cannot find it for the life of me. I would like to leave the polka dots out, but improvising for now. Of course I really want to sew it together too! Should I take out the wierd white dots and add the blackish gray piece sitting next to it.

Zero will be white, pumpkins orange and oogie boogie on the back green, so that is why there is a slice of green. Oh and imagine the top square black with a jack face, not polka dot with a blob of white. I also might need to readjust the patches.

has anyone ever used felt? Washed felt? This is not felt, it is stablizer of some sort, but now I see it isn't too even. I like the dimension it adds. I will do a jack face on it of course.

This is great! I love the polka dots! Where did you find the Mickey fabric? Was it sheets in a former life?

Also, I like how your pillowcase dress has elastic. Do you mind sharing how you did it? I do not like the ones I made. They are not sturdy enough!

Couple of questions for everyone....

1.) For all those making or already made pillowcase dresses, have you or will you let your kids wear them when the weather starts getting cooler with a shirt underneath? If someone has done the layering with a pillowcase dress, I would love to see a pic.

2.) If any of you have ever made cheerleader outfits/uniforms, do you know where you can buy the striped trim at?

DD wore this for her first day of preschool---she started in the middle of the year last year. I have already made some for this year and matching ones with school fabric for the 1st day for her and her 2 best friends.

Ok ladies I need help. I want to make DS a costume for MNSSHP. I am making an Alice costume for DD which is in the works and I want him to be the mad hatter. ANyone know any good patterns to use or have any ideas especially for the hat. I will need it to be about 18 months.

I love love love love the pink and green swirlly fabric. It mimics Mickey perfect! Where did you get those. I am such a sucker for pink and green!

They were at WM in the $2/yd section... I have no clue what I'm going to make with them, but I thought of the Mickey Swirl as soon as I saw them.

This was the first outfit I did. I'm glad you like it!! I made it before I knew how to sew. You could applique the Mickeys but I didn't. I used "Aleene's OK to wash it" fabric glue. I "painted" a thin layer of glue on the back and just put them where I wanted them. I've washed a different tee that I used the fabric glue on and, so far, it's still ok.

I'm glad you explained this! I so want to do matching "Mommy and Me" outfits of this for my daughter and i. May I C.A.S.E please?

Will the e 6000 stuff that I bought work for this? I meand I'd really hate to have to go back to the store and shop!! Yeah right....

Camping Griswalds - That is awesome!!! Can I ask if you just "glued" on the patches with heat-n-bond or something or did you also stitch them down?

Great job! Those are very cute. I agree about the shirring - it's not hard but it does take time to do aaaaaallllllllll the rows. LOL I'm still trying to think of an alternative that stretches as easily but is quicker to do.

Awhile back someone poste a link to sewing a ruffle with clear elastic. i wonder would that create a "shirred" type look?

Yes, the Mickey print was a "vintage" pillowcase I got from eBay.

I thought I would try one with the elastic and bais tape as ties just because DD's other pillowcase dresses are always coming untied and falling down! I cut the armholes, made a ruffle at the top, and then made a casing for the elastic. Pulled the elastic through and secured it. Then used wide double fold bias tape to finish the armholes and make the straps! Hope that makes sense! I kinda was "wingin' it"!

I stumbled across this website while I was looking up some information on a ruffler foot. I just got mine and I am trying to figure out exactly how to use it, it doesn't ruffle enough. Anyhow, I see that there is such a thing as a "shiring foot". As much luck as everyone has had with the ruffler foot I wonder if this would be an easier way to do shirring? This is not the website that I got my ruffler from but the prices aren't bad only $20, I didn't check the shipping though. The shirring foot was only $12. Anyone think this could work?

Look what I made today not clothes, but a must if you are going to the parks. You guys all know your wipe container must matching your boutique clothing! (Or every ride if you are Utahmama) I am going to add a bling Mickey head. I will post photos when I get that done!

I found a big batch of tinkerbell WATCHES at big lots today ... $3 ...
they were digital, with working batteries ...
& had 2-3 cute little silk flower "hair bands" = they were interchangeable & wrapped around the face of the watch, so it appeared that there was a little flower floating there MAYBE they would be worn in little girl's hair to match or on a shoulder strap ...

there were other characters, but I was in hurry ... I stopped long enough to look at the tink watches & noted there wasn't any minnie or mickey, so I scurried on my way ... It was reeeally cute, but my littles aren't really into tink.

I think the e6000 glue would work. (I've never used it before). I'd suggest "lining" the mickey head that's on the tee. I didn't do that and the ribbon shows through. I'm going to do a matching outfit for myself too! We're staying a Pop and someone said (a few HUNDRED pages back) this outfit would be perfect for check in!!

Questions:

When I was in WV, I visited a sewing shop and asked about Disney prints. They said they didn't carry them, they were made by Spring and aren't made for endurance? The mostly carried quilting fabric, so what does she mean? Just that quilting fabrics are made to last for generations and clothing fabric is not? After she told me that, I looked around some more and did find Cars fabric but that was the only Disney they had.

Also, since I'm having such a hard time finding Jasmine fabric, I had another idea. I'm wanting to make dd8 an outfit for CRT and thought about making a patchwork twirl skirt and using iron-on graphics, cutting out squares of white fabric and ironing on Jasmine to each of them. Do you think that would be ok? Would it be durable?

Now, if anyone has some Jasmine fabric they are willing to part with, I'd be more than happy to buy it from you or trade for something else.
