Okay guys let me know what you think of this bracelet. It's the ONLY thing I've gotten done in 3 days.

This is for my oldest dd's special treat at WDW. Each of the charms will represent something from her day of star treatment.

th_bracelet.jpg

The bracelet itself is a bunch of entwined hearts.

The tiara represents her day of being a princess. (It's kind of hidden under the ribbon)
The cross is for her "christ like actions"
The heart is for my love for her
The flip flop represents her pedicure
The teapot and cup are for her "grown-up tea party at GF"
The picture frame will be filled with a pic of just she and I from our "day"
The purse is for a little shopping spree on her own
And the cheshire cat represents her very first tea party with Alice and the Mad Hatter when she was 5 years old at WDW right after her dad and I divorced. That trip was Her and I against the world.:cloud9:

Awww so cute. The bracelet is really cool. I would have loved that at her age, ok who am I kidding I still love charm braclets. Where did you get them, they are really cute. I think it would be cute to come up with a little poem to put with it.

Just got home from work and 12 pages. Crazy ladies!!

I wonder if that is for the Navy outfit I am thinking of from:wizard:

I think it is the same trim just a different shade.

Oh yes, it is the one you remember. Not 600 bucks though!

That's funny, I got a gorgeous set of bows today in the mail too!! LOL

I love my bows. I haven't had a chance yet, but I am thinking the bandana and blue ones with the black and white centers, might match the COW outfit you made my daughter!

Hmmmm....how many outfits for that football game??

Three, but who is counting? And besides, the one being made can be worn to lots of the games...once we buy tickets!

Yeah, I'm using an asterisk from now on.:thumbsup2
You know I was pretty proud of myself with that asterick idea!!

I don't think I will be online again for a few days. We are off to Playhouse Disney Live tomorrow, 2 nites at the All-Star Sports, One day at Sea World, and One day at MK (maybe)...
And on Tuesday I have a huge exam, so Tuesday morning I will be studying...
I'm sure when I get back online, there will be 10,000 posts to read!!
Have a great weekend everyone!!!
Sew something for me...:rotfl:

Good luck on the test! Very important to take the quite time to study!!!

Not quite sure what happened there in the middle, but I did try to multiquote from 12 spaced out pages so maybe that is the problem?

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS! Great idea!

Well, Evan, my 2yo SON, has just informed me he wants to wear this dress to Disney. :rotfl: You scored big in this house!

I am looking for a ruffler foot for my NEW brother 6000i. Does anyone know what kind of foot I should be looking for? Do I need to buy it from Brother? I asked at Joann's but they looked at me like I had 8 feet. sticking out of my head.

I have the Creative Sewing Solutions one from Hancocks, not sure what Joanne's has. It works great on my Brother. I even just bought the hemmer foot to match. :thumbsup2

Ok, Lisa, a few more applique question if you don't mind. What is the pressing pad? Where do you find it?
When doing applique, do you stitch the individual pieces by themselves, and then place them down where they go? Or do you put everything in place and then stitch through all of the layers together? For example, in the pic you posted of Ariel, would you have stitched the lines in her lower fin first, and then stitched around the outside of it through all of the layers? Or are those fine lines inside the fin stitched through all the layers as well?

We've been good. I dropped out of the thread because it just moves too fast now. I really just don't have time to keep up with it, and I get frustrated having to keep notes on where I left off. :headache:

I'll try to drop in from time to time with new pics. The Wiggles outfits are finished, and we are all ready for Sunday's show! :)

Right now, I'm working on a Minnie dot outfit. I'm in the middle of it, but I took a break to make the girls another bandana outfit. The bandana outfits from YCMT.com are so simple that I can do them in a day.

I want to post pics of the Wiggles outfits, but I cruised ebay for inspiration. Since all the ebay seller drama that was on the thread, I'm afraid to post pics because I don't want trouble from the seller. :guilty: In summary, I want to post pics, but I'm not because I'm not interested in having drama.

We are going on Sunday, too!!!

I think this is absolutely PERFECT! I know she will love it and how meaningful it is for you and her. I love the cross for Chirst-like actions. That is exactly what we are to strive for in our lives and this is a great reminder to her. (and all of us). What a wonderful young lady you have. You are definitely doing something right!!
Now, if I could just get my son to show those same actions (he is going on 10---WHEN will it happen?!)

I think you have just done something so fantastic for her that she will remember for the rest of her life.
Can you be my mom?!

I have finished my first ruffle and attached to the bottom of the skirt! Now my question. I have read that I should topstitch 1/8 inch from the seam. If I do the topstitching, do I still need to trim and finish the edges? I guess I would need to do that first? Or can I skip it if I'm doing the topstitching. Sorry, sounds really basic but I'm just not sure!

Also, do you topstitch each layer on a twirl skirt? I have not in the past but was wondering if I should. Or do you just do it with the ruffle to make it lay correctly?

How wonderful. You've clearly put ALOT of thought and    into this. I bet when she grows old her grandchildren will see that in her jewelry box and ask her about it and she'll get to tell them again about this wonderful special time w/her mom.:goodvibes It's absolutely perfect in every way!

I have to say this again -- you guys are crazy talented. I'm so impressed with all the stuff you make.

But I have to ask -- when do you sleep?

First of all, thanks for all the kind words about Lydia's princess outfit!!!

I did this one for DD in Spring. I really like to do some of the characters that aren't the ones people typically think of for Disney.

th_mulan2.jpg
WOWWY!! That is fantastic! I really like Mulan. While we were in line to meet Mulan in May, I pulled out Lydia's Mulan dress and slipped it on her over her Ariel costume. She was a BIG hit!!! Mulan made a huge fuss over her, and our photopass photographer followed us around while she was playing to take pictures of her! People even stopped us to ask where we had gotten the dress. I didn't make it, I bought it when Arminda was little off Ebay.

Here's the result of my first twirl skirt attempt. I bought this basic tank to go with it - but now I'm not sure if I like it or not. What do you all think? What kind of top?

IMG_2787.jpg
I just LOOOVE the colors you used in this!! It looks fantastic!
I'll just try to remember to put it on the front of the shirt and not the back, like some crazy person might do!!! :rotfl: Just kidding, heather, you know I love ya!

th_Abbysariel.jpg

These capris are for dd6, I need to finish the Flounder applique on the back before I stitch up that right leg. I'm wondering about the Flounder, I drew the lines in fabric pen, but not sure how to do the inside. Any ideas, Lisa, Heather, anyone? I thought I'd embroider the blue stripes, eyes, and mouth. Does that sound doable?
abbysariel3.jpg

And here are dd2's Donald overalls again, with the finished back!

th_DonaldDuck1.jpg

Had to laugh at the joke about Heather! :rotfl: I love the Ariel outfit! And, the Donald overalls are cute! I love the little hanky sticking out of the back pocket!
HA! Shirley!!!

Great Twirl Factor!!!! I love the gathered top skirt! Bows will be
purrrrrfect! Love that little red-headed girl! She is a beauty! She JUST needs some kind of crown or tiara or way-big bow.

I think you did a great job. You DESIGNED this yourself? Really? WOW!!!!

HEHEHE, I get it! Shirrley, that's funny! I didn't think it would have much twirl, but it twirls pretty nicely actually. I would love to get a pettiskirt to put under it, to give some more poof. Oh, WAIT!!!! I could use some PLASTIC BAGS!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

You know, I was going to find one of the many tiaras we have around here for the pictures, but I just decided to do the princess ponytail holder instead! I was trying to hurry, I was suppose to go to my Mom's so I could eat the world's most delicious pizza with my favorite little sister. (Ok, so Heather's my ONLY sister, but still, I think she'd be my favorite even if I had more!!)

I went to the You Can Make It website and all I saw was a bunch of videos on how to sew. Is there a store on there for other stuff? :confused3

Try http://www.youcanmakeTHIS.com But, thanks for the other site, I don't think I've been there before!

Teresajoy, are there any spiral twirl skirts in your bookmarks? I didn't see one but there is just so many amazing things on there, I might have overlooked it. Thought I'd check if anyone had a free pattern before I bought one on ycmt.
There is one on there, but I haven't attempted it yet.

Ok everyone, on the pillowcase dress. How hard are they to make? Is there a pattern. I wasn't for sure if I like them, but I found a cute one on ebay, and trying to decide if I should buy it, or try to make it. I have two girls, and they like to dress alike.

I think someone answered you allready, but I'll second it, they are SUPER EASY! And quick!

I don't think I will be online again for a few days. We are off to Playhouse Disney Live tomorrow, 2 nites at the All-Star Sports, One day at Sea World, and One day at MK (maybe)...

Sew something for me...:rotfl:

JUST RUB IT IN!!!! Have a great time! I'll be jealous of you until Tuesday!!!

Ok, I've added the details. Now how should I outline them? And, how should I do my detail lines (cheeks, eyebrows, etc.) I don't want to mess this one up like I did Sebastian, I'm very nervous! I know Flounder's stripes are two-toned, but the thread I have is a different blue than the fabric, so it will look two-toned when I'm done (right?)

th_abbysariel4.jpg

Now, I'm outa here until Sunday night, I'm off to Atlanta :car:... Road Trip!!!!!

My best friend and I are going to see Def Leppard!

:rockband:
It's looking really good!

Come on, admit it, you are just going to see Def Leppard for an excuse to use that cool Rockband smiley! :rockband:
Oh please add this to the bookmarks...thanks
Your wish is my command!!

Ok, Lisa, a few more applique question if you don't mind. What is the pressing pad? Where do you find it?

I got mine at JoAnn's where it's kept with the quilting notions. The brand I bought is Fons & Porter which is often excluded from sales on quilting notions so I made sure to grab it when I could get it at 50% off (it's regularly $16.99 but well worth that price but I'm cheap :)).

I fuse all the pieces in place before I do any stitching. When I'm drawing the pieces onto my fusible, I decide which piece to be on top then assemble everything from the back to the front. With the Ariel design, I started with the rock pieces, added the seaweed and starfish then began assembling Ariel herself. Once it had cooled, I peeled it off the pressing sheet and moved the whole thing to the fabric to which it was to be stitched.

Once the assembled applique is fused to the base fabric/garment (with stabilizer behind the base), I begin stitching. As with assembling the pieces, I work from the "back" to the front in layers. That means I sometimes have to rethread the same color more than once as I work forward. This also has each new layer of stitching secure the beginning and end stitching of the previous layer. That way I only have to pull the top thread to the back to tie in a few locations. (I tie or secure all thread this way so the stitching doesn't start to unravel over time.)

Here's the order I did for the Ariel applique:
1) The dark grey of the rock
2) The light grey of the rock
3) The purple seaweed and the starfish
4) The green seaweed and her hair - but not where it overlaps her face.
5) The whites of her eyes and the main part of her body - but not the hands or the arm that is in front of her "knees"
6) The rest of her hair, the main part of her tail, irises of her eyes and her top
7) Her hands and remaining arm, fins, pupils and the "peplum" at her waist
8) The rest of the details of her face are hand embroidered

That means I changed the top thread about 15 times. Mine may not be the most efficient way to do it but it's working for me and I'm generally happy with the results. :goodvibes Of course the more I do it, the more I find better ways to do things that usually save time.

But if you don't sleep you'll end up sewing your clothing to your kids clothing and then you will all have to walk around attached together.

But if you don't sleep you'll end up sewing your clothing to your kids clothing and then you will all have to walk around attached together.

Isn't that called Attachment Parenting? :rotfl: Makes it harder for the little dears to get away. :rotfl2:

Ok - I have a few things to share. I tried the Hannah skirt on her for you all! (oh BTW DD lost her front tooth yesterday - too much change for me this week - first the hair then the tooth!) I am still looking for a purple top to embellish to go with it. I have looked everywhere! What do you all think of using another color - not black though. The Minnie top is not done yet. I still need to add the white lace and ric-rac on the bottom, but JoAnn (two of them) are out of the eyelet lace I need. I may add a minnie head to the top too. The last one is for school and I am so PROUD of it! It may not look like much but I love how it turned out - and I didn't use a pattern at all! Big step for me! DD loves it all too!

Oh what a great idea to include a poem. I hadnt thought of that! I apprceciate your input. Thanks!

Thank you, I hope she loves it just as much!

Can you be my mom?!
Thank you! Sure, I'll be your mom, as I always say, what's one more kid in the house anyway? And my dd just seemed to grow up and "get it". She seemed to mature overnite and I don't know what happened. It even leaves me speechless at times. I would love to take credit for her behaviour but I think it comes from higher up.

How wonderful. You've clearly put ALOT of thought and    into this. I bet when she grows old her grandchildren will see that in her jewelry box and ask her about it and she'll get to tell them again about this wonderful special time w/her mom.:goodvibes It's absolutely perfect in every way!
That is so funny! My dd saw me looking at this beautiful antique cross necklace at a store the other day and asked me why I don't wear all the jewelry I have and I told her that it's hard for me to put it on anymore. So she said, why do you buy it? I said because I like it and just think of the fun you will have or your child will have one day when you go through my jewelry box and see all the things I have stored up for you! :cloud9:
Some of my favorite times and best memories were of sitting at my grandmothers vanity table and getting to go through her treasures and try them on. So I love that you keyed in on that. Thank you!

Oh, that is SOOOO sweet! She is going to love it!
Thank you! I see you made a beautiful princess dress for your daughter. That was a great use of that purple princess toile that I have just sitting around. But I only have two more weeks to get everything done.:scared: I can't take on more projects....aaarrrrggghhhh
