The pants is the outfit Heather made Corey when he was about 1. Quick, someone call 911 for Heather!

It has been my pleasure to make you laugh today! After so many of YOU guys made me cry with your babies going to school and being so kind and generous!

You know, every time I see your signature picture, I want to tell you, "GET YOUR HEAD IN THE WINDOW!!!" There, I feel better now! You scare me leaning out like that!!!

Oh, you crack me up. I was laughing out loud at this. We had our neighbor the cruise take our picture and did the same for them. We had to do it while DS (2 at the time) was sleeping because I didn't want him seeing us leaning out like that. I think I was watching my camera pretty closely while they took this picture it was a long way down and they had to hold it out to get the shot.
I am still giggling remembering all this. Thanks.

It's exclusive to Costco! It's even better than the 6000 because there's more stitches, i noticed, And it has a little picture frame on the outside...open the picture frame to a stitch menu. Basically it's the same, but costs $144.00!

I wish I had seen it before I spent $186. (?) on my 6000 at Walmart. Ya think they'd return it? :cool2:

SAME super easy bobbin too. :upsidedow

Ok, now I need to convince DH that its time to upgrade.
If it was a computer or new receiver or something you know it wouldn't take much convincing
Wait how easy is this bobbin? maybe that could be a negotiating point.
If I was a patient women I would wait until Christmas and hint like crazy between now and then. But who has time for patience?
:rotfl:

Thank you! I had seen pirates with striped pants before, so I thought why not? I bet Tammy will look great! Especially with a red/white sash to go on it! And, ummm arent' most pirates close to being convicts anyway.....:rotfl2:

Let me preface this with, my child is not perfect, she is prone to teenage angst and drama and has earned he title of "Drama Queen" in our family. But she has her good moments! This explanation will be fairly long...

MY niece is a single mom with a 6 yo son. She doesn't have much money and isn't able to do things for her son. My dd was telling her cousin, my grand nephew, about getting to go to WDW and he sat there and listened and asked so many questions about it that when she came back to talk to me she said, "how come they never go" I had to explain to her that they didnt have the money. She asked me why not? I had to explain that being a single mom was hard work and you didnt always have alot of money and how lucky she was to be able to go to WDW as much as we did.

She then asked me if she paid for it, would they be able to go with us? I told her that was a big responsibility to make that much money and that if she thought she was up to it, and if they wanted to go, I would agree to it. But I wouldn't be able to help her much with paying because of so many medical bills. She said okay, she understood. She asked my other niece if she wanted to go also and when she said she did but couldnt afford much, she said if you will pay for your ticket and part of the room you can stay with christi, (the single mom). And then she worked ALL summer to make the rest of the needed amount of money to pay for their tickets and room. She worked hard. So my nieces and grand nephew have her to thank for their trip to WDW. I am trying to make clothing for them to wear so that they don't have added the expense of clothing for the trip.

If she knew I was telling on her she would be so embarassed.

What a touching story. It brought tears to my eyes. You have an amazing daughter.

Ok,
TIA
Just love this thread...you are all so wonderful and so complementary - OT my DD (37) called today crying uncontrollably because of a rude remark a coworker made about adoptive parents....something along the lines that they don't count, or don't matter....it had to do with a discussion of something in the media between a parent and child (perhaps a star?),,,but she was so upset she couldn't make a lot of sense at the time. She and her DH cannot conceive..and never will...and they adopted a baby boy from Russia who is now 3. God definitely chose Nicholas for them and for our family and he is so loved... I just don't understand what motivates some people. Would love to make those adorable overalls with the safari Mickey for Nicholas. He loves AK!
Susan:love:

Susan,
As a proud adoptive parent I feel your daughters pain. People can be rude and they tend to not be very smart on the subject of adoption. Sadly some people will just never "get it". Adoptive parents DO matter and we are important (and we are "real"-I used to get mad when people asked about my DD's "real mom", I am not imaginary, I AM REAL :lmao:) . I think you are a wonderful mom for supporting your daughter in this, and an awesome grandma for being so proud of your grandson. Big :grouphug: to you and your daughter.

I wish I could give you all a hug (well, maybe not Teresa for embarassing her son like that and almost killing her sister :rotfl2: ). This is such a nice group of people. I appreciate you all! :grouphug:

What a special little girl you have!

Everyone's Tiara ~
Can I just say you must have done something really well because you are raising an amazing little girl! :goodvibes: I will be on the look out for anything else like the coral reef thing for you to do for her. She definately is very deserving!

Ok, got the Brother 1034D today.

TIA

First off Congrats. :)

Hugs to your DD. I cannot imagine someone being so tacky. Well I can but it does not excuse it. :sad2: We are starting the process to foster to adopt actually going to our first class next week  . DH and I cannot have children "naturally" as well. I always seem to go back to this story it is called the Starfish Thrower http://psalms150-6.com/stories/starfish.html . Basically saying no I cannot save them all but I saved this one. I am sure she knows but she makes all the difference in the world to Nicholas and noone can take that away from her ... no matter how ignorant they are.

Well, girls, I'm almost done with some outfits for my son and I need some suggestions. Listed below are three overall sets.....Safari, Sorcerer, and Stitch. The Safari and Stitch look a little plain, so I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions of what I can add to spruce them up. I think the sorcerer looks fine by itself because there's a broom added on the back, although I have to add on the handles yet. I was thinking of doing a beach scene with a surf board on one leg for the stitch overalls and maybe do a lion on the back for the safari. These will be cut at a bermuda short length. Any ideas?
I also threw in pics of his necklaces. :)

All of the appliques look great! I have seen boys jeans that have a small almost binding type strip of material at the bottom. It kinda "pulls the fabric" all together. Goodluck with your ideas, and be sure to post pictures when you decide!

Eeyore's Tiara thank you so much for sharing that story with us, I love reading things like that. She sounds like a wonderful girl.

Ok, I got my pictures. Here is what I made last night. All opinions are welcome.

Should I do the face and hair in matching thread instead of black? Should I make capris to go with it or skorts? What color? Should I alter the jeans as orginally planned? Why is it so bloody hot here? HELP!

Here is the baby going off to school this morning. She had a great day, but I was a wreck!

((HUGS)) on sending your baby to school! I bet it was rough!

I think it looks great and I like the black. I'm partial to jeans so that's what I would choose but if you think they'd be too hot, I think a red skort would be cute.

Congrats to Megan on a successful first day. My DS (my baby) starts next Thursday and who knows how I'll do when the time gets here. :rolleyes1

Ok, this is my first attempt at appliques. The first thing I did was the name "Ariel" and I'm really proud of that. The next thing was the Ariel cutout from the fabric of the top and that was a little tricky, but I managed. Then I did Sebastian... now that was rough. I thought it would be easy since it's all one color, except the eyes. Actually, in hindsight, it should have been easy. I just made it complicated by not knowing how to finish the inside lines. I think it looks horrible, but Sarah loves it and that's all that matters. Anyway this is my first one, I have another one to do and it will be a little different.

I think you did a great job, especially for a first attempt!

I finally have enoughj posts to share some things I've done. My budget isn't glad I found this board, but my dds & I sure are!

Way too cute, thanks for sharing!

DH and I were blessed beyond belief when our fertility treatment gave us twins. I also have a niece and a nephew adopted from Haite - my BIL and his wife are most definately parents. Unfortunately, there will always be insensitive people out there - I'm sorry your DD had to deal with that one. It is hard - but I found after awhile, the only thing to get me through the comments and the baby showers was to ignore it all and make a choice not to let it affect me. I had to remind myself a lot:goodvibes . Glad DD has you to vent to.

$144! Wow! That's a great deal! I don't have a Costco here, but I have a Costco card. I wonder if my husband would notice if I came home with home the next time I passed by a Costco?

Okay, I bought this fabric because someone on here made something with it and I really liked it. Then I had it in my head that it would be a short mini, kind of mod. So I hunted for a pattern, found one I loved- even though it's not remotely mod-esque- sewed the dress, bought a fabulous bracelet from a disboard member and now, I haven't a clue when or where this dress will be worn! It's a little too dressy for park wear and for our WDW trip, our only dinner night will be a different themed outfit. So I told DH we'll have to book dinner here at DL one night just so she can wear the darn dress :rotfl2:

Anyway, I still like it and so does DD8 so it'll probably get some regular wear anyway.

dottedmandm.jpg

I include a picture of the back because the bracelet maker was kind enough to throw in an extra button for the back of the dress. I'll make sure DD8 wears her hair up so it can be seen!
