NO WAY!!!!!! Absolutely fabulous! I love all of them! Love the hidden Mickeys!

I am totally coveting the Alice! I'm just about done with my DD's Alice dress to wear ti 1900 Park Fare...the apron NEEDS something special, though.

I really love the ruffles on the back side!

All are amazing! Really impressive! :cheer2:

How about a teapot &/or cup for the apron??? The teapot and cup on mine was SO easy. I can email you the patterns if you PM me...

Thank you for the compliments everyone. You've all had a part in inspiring (and enabling) me!!

First off, all of you are so talented and your outfits are adorable! I just began reading this thread and haven't made it through...but thank you for the website YCMT. I bought about 6 of the patterns and can't wait to get started. Found Disney fabric at my last stop - Walmart - and for a great price, and the coordinating colors at Joanne's.

I have been sewing 40 years, mostly for my 3 daughters, and made dance costumes, formal gowns, and wedding gowns. I consider myself close to being expert at sewing, not at altering, but at sewing.

I have looked at sergers, but they are so overwhelming looking. I see on these patterns from YCMT that most of the designers use sergers. Does anyone have any experience they could share with me? Brands, types, how long did it take you to learn to use it, is it worth the money, or do you hate it? I bought my machine 25 years ago for $1000 and it has been my only machine all these years. It is a great computerized machine and I love it, never jams, always does what it should do. But I see these serger folks can even gather on their machines.

Any help greatly appreciated. Going to make 4 outfits for my DGD who is a very tiny 2 1/2 year old. She loves to twirl. Also have to make princess costumes since the ones I bought at WDW are too big - even the XXS. But it will be a joy to do it.

Happy sewing everyone!

I love monsters inc. I call my littlest dd BOO! Ever since she was a tiny baby that's been her nickname. Your outfit is great!

I loved that Monsters Inc outfit too and I call DD Boo too! Since Mickey Mouse Club, I also call her Boo Boo Chicken.

Calypso, I wanted to add that I was also shocked at your DB and DSIL. In fact, I have some Nemo fabric that I couldn't decide what to do with, but after I saw the JoJo outfit I knew I wanted to CASE it. Hope things get better.

Ok, I need some help. I made some tiger print shorts for DS for Animal Kingdom. When I asked him what he wanted on the t-shirt he said the Tree of Life. I have searched for some clip art from links on the Creative DISigns board and can't find anything. I cannot draw. Can anyone help me with this? I am really stumped. Thanks in advance!

I am SOO excited to share my completed customs with you guys!!

I still have to do some appliqued T's and polos for my DS5, but here is what I've done for Mally (DD7). I would like to have time to make her one more outfit, either Cinderella themed or princess themed of some kind. I am also thinking of a High School Musical outfit...

This was my first attempt at the decoupage method. I had the jean jacket laying around (it won't fit Mally long) just waiting for the opportunity to be embellished! Catch the HIDDEN MICKEYS???

This is the decoupage jeans with peasant top... (again, notice the hidden Mickey??) I didn't make them to match the jacket (denims are very different), but I loved the fabrics so much, I wanted to use them again.

I've been sharing my Alice outfit during it's progress. It now is totally done. (Notice, I did take your advice and removed the ruffle from the front). This is for our 1900 Park Fare breakfast! For those that I emailed the pattern for Alice to, how are you coming? I'm excited to see what others do with it!

... and these are my favorite... the Minnie overalls. We just got the MJ Crocs and Minnie head Jibbit. I found this adorable top at Carters (Mally's a 6x, so I painfully made my LAST Carters purchase for her, EVER!) I may apply something in the back top of the overalls where I took off the OshKosh label. Maybe another spray of flowers?

Sorry about Mally's PAINED expression. She was missing Hannah Montana...

I'm so excited to have these done and put together! I am going to put them in their ziplock baggies and put them in the suitcase!!! What satisfaction!!! (Yes, I'm nuts... we don't leave for another 11 weeks, but I LOVE to pack!)

I am also considering doing a pair of denim Minnie capris for ME! If I can find a good fitting pair of jeans at the right price, I will...

I am playing catch up again after visiting with friends on Sat. and spending time with DH and the kids today. We had to go out to lunch and get new sneakers for the kids!

These are adorable. I love the Jean Jacket! The fabrics you used are beautiful. I would never think of using those. I really love how everything turned out. The Alice dress is beautiful.

What pattern did you use for the peasant blouse? Where did you get those beautiful fabrics?

Edited to add that I see you answered these questions already. Love your outfits!

You know I think serging is great. it takes care of all those loose ends. but if you are just making a couple of outfits I would not worry about it. I beleive the cheapest serger is around $299. If you are not goig to be doing a ton of sewing it may not be worth the $
Lori

Lori, do you use a serger? Is a cheaper one as good as a more expensive one? I don't mind paying up to $400, but that's my limit. I would probably use it a lot making things for my grandkids - all 4 ages 3 and under! I love to sew.:cool1:

I know what it's like to catch up with posts... I posted it already, but I'll PM you what I said so you don't have to search for it! LOL

Ok, I have a work in progress pic, but my MIL is out and will e-mail it to me tomorrow. We finished the shirt, which I am not happy w/ and the pants need elasti and ruffles. I am almost positive I will not be happy until I remake the shirt-fortunately I bought 4 yds of minnie dot. My FIL asked if she was being a clown for halloween and no matter how many times I tell her my mom keeps thinking I am making her a minnie halloween costume:mad:

Tomorrow is my B-day so I doubt I'll get any sewing done. Despite my insistance that I wanted NOTHING to be done for my b-day my mom invited the family over for cake. Whatever. She's trying to be nice, I'd really rather forget that I'm turning 30 though.

Will post progress pics tomorrow.

I've been sewing for 30+ years and only had a serger for the last 2. I was VERY intimidated by the idea of getting one because I'd heard how hard they are to thread, adjust tension, etc. I also couldn't afford more than the basic so I worried it wouldn't be worth the price. I have to say I love it and wouldn't go back to sewing without one. I still do 99% of the seam stitching on my sewing machine but I love being able to do seam finish and trimming all in one pass. The inside of my garments have never looked so pretty. ;)

I do sometimes struggle with adjusting the tension but not so much that I give up. I've had the thread break a couple times but I don't think threading is as big a deal as I'd believed before I owned a serger.

BTW - I use my serger a lot. I sew for others so use it several times each week. It's the "starter" model from White that I got at JoAnns 2 years ago. I think I paid $299 or less for it and it's definitely doing it's job. I don't have the "bells and whistles" fancier machines have (like air jet guided threading) but it does what I need, including a nice rolled edge that is a definite "must have" now that I've had it in my sewing repertoire. LOL

Here is Audrey Grace in Castle Creations lovely cow outfit. She just loves it! Her facial expressions are because she is trying to twirl on my countertop! We went to the Zoo today in this. ( I know , NO cows at the Zoo, but it's what she wanted.)

LOL, I love photos that catch facial expressions like that! She is so cute and obviously loves her new dress. :)

Love Alice! I didn't see the photo with the ruffle in the front but the tiered back ruffles are perfect. Great job!

You did such a great job on all the outfits. It's great to see the Alice outfit complete. I know you worked really hard at the appliques! Love the decoupage. I have two pairs of jeans I am going to start next month for DD2. I also bought the YCMT pattern for the peasant top. I made a practice top and can't wait to make another!

I love the retro fabric! You did an excellent job!

I love the Mickey tye dye! I have had a box of tye dye for almost a year but am too chicken to try it. Your family picture really inspires me to give it a try!

I think with tax etc. it can be close to $400. I know I like the singer a lot more than the white serger. the singer is a little easier to thread and is alot quiter. I just had to have my white get serviced and it was $150 which is half the sale price.
I have two sergers. one as a back up because I do sewing daily.

Simply gorgeous Alice! I like your Mickey overalls too! Gorgeous! And your little model is so cute!

Can you use this to start? It's a tree anyway. I saw an adorable AK outfit that had a tree like this, and then buttons of giraffes, elephants and othe zoo type animals sewn around the trunk of the tree. It was fantastic. I will have to see if i saved it somewhere...

Picture006.jpg

Yep, I thought honesty was the best policy too! Especially since she now has the dress I was going to CASE as her avatar!

Oh you are all too funny! I am flattered you like my design enough to case it! What a compliment.
I love anything Disney! I just love the pastel Alice set, and Minnie overalls! Deco Mickey is way cool! Great job!
