I also made dd7 an outfit. She picked out the ladybug material and wanted something to wear to church from it, so this is what I can up with. dd isn't home to model but I figure you'll get the idea.

My first appliqué!! I've putting off trying an appliqué because I was so afraid I would suck:rotfl2: :rotfl2: So finally I told myself I had to try and it came out okay! I am so stoked :cool1: :cool1:

I also struggled with how to make an Epcot outfit for ds. I made one similar to Dena's for dd if you remember, and I wanted something with the friends around the world fabric for the boys. But I can't make shorts because it will be December, and ds isn't really a button up shirt kinda guy. So finally I figured it out! So here is my first appliqué and my epcot outfit for ds in one! Ignore the fact that ds5 is a total ham :headache: I will make another of the same thing for ds1 next.

Wow! Awesome job on your applique! The shirt is very cool and your DS is way too handsome!

In my opinion, for the squares or rectangles just do what you see appearing in other areas that are eye pleasing, such as 4x6, 5x8 and then add on for seam allowances.
It is much easier if you do 2 lines of a basting stitch, it helps to keep the gathers in place.
Good luck with the skirt.

I always run 2 lines of basting to make gathers. It makes it fluffier! It seems like it is easier to put the threads that way also.

I use the edge of the presser foot to guide the fabric. That makes them 1/4 inch apart. Good luck with your skirt. I haven't tried one of those yet. They are really cute.

I miss them being small and uncool!

I SOO agree with you! Corey goes through clothing "phases" two years ago, it was t-shirts with a stripe across the chest, this last year it was only short sleeved, plaid button up shirts. This summer however, he sometimes wears a t-shirt under the button up shirts, and sometimes will even be seen in JUST a t-shirt (and pants)! I did get him to wear a Mickey Mouse button up shirt to Disney World, that matched my husband's shirt, which matched my dress, which matched Arminda's dress, which matched Lydia's dress. Well, we all matched, and it was a lot of fun! I thought so anyways!!!:lmao:

Cute! Did you cut out the Mickey from the Epcot fabric? That looks great!

I LOVE this! It is so stinkin cute!!!

Hi fellow sewers,
I've started to work on Halloween costumes for my boys recently. I've always wanted to make homemade costumes but never knew how. My 3yo is very into Peter Pan lately and he picked out this pattern.
9862.jpg

I've pretty much finished his costume, just need to make the little shoes and finish the back. It was my first time ever making anything with a collar so it looks a little rough.
brothers.jpg

Jack wants his brother to be Captain Hook, so that is my next project. I'll have to make some alterations since my baby is only about 18 months sized and the smallest size included in the pattern is a 3.

Jack also suggested that I make the Tinkerbelle costume for daddy. I'll have to run that one by DH!

Ok here is my dd wearing her completed outfit. This is the first time that I have made capri's. I think I am going to take them in because they look more like gauchos than capri's. I wish I could put some type of embelishment on the pants but they were made to wear with both shirts and I can't figure out how to make it fit both. Don't mind my dd silly face she didn't want to get her picture taken. She is getting to that age where I am lucky if I can get a picture of her, used to be when she was littlier she loved getting her picture taken.

These outfits turned out great. I wouldn't mind them for myself!

Question

I am thinking of making some more of this type of outfit for my Ds for our Sept. trip.
DSC_1248_5x7_7-1.jpg

It will be VERY HOT and this outfit has interfacing around the top. Maybe around 1/4 to 1/3 down plus the fabric over top of that. Hope that makes sense. Do you all think that will be too hot? Any other options. I had thought maybe just do a bias tape around the neck and arm but, that might not look very good. I am not the best sewer.

I was also thinking of making one in red with giant buttons on the front like mickey's pants. Do you think that would look good (would people get it)? Probably for evening because red is almost as hot as wearing black.

TIA!

Who is it that photoshops? I would love to see that. I have that pattern and had not thought of doing that. Love the idea of bias tape. I HATE doing facings!

whomever contacted me about wanting to know how to make the bottlecap necklaces please go ahead and pm me. I must have deleted the pm. just got flagged for posting those pictures.I was not trying to sell them here and sorry if everyone got the wrong immpression. if whomever it was still needed my help please pm me.

She looks great in the shirts! I love to see the completed outfits on! You get a much better idea of how they look that way, and these look fantastic! I think you've been asked before, so I'm sorry to repeat, but what pattern did you use for these? I'm thinking Arminda would look adorable in these!

Robin, Travelingal does wonderful photoshop work. Maybe she'll see your post!

 That stinks. Sorry you got flagged. I was so upset when I got flagged for posting someone elses Ebay link. And, I might ad, the administrator (not the mod for this board)was NOT nice about answering my questions to clarify exactly what I could and could not post.

I have learned to be careful how something is posted.

I used Simplicity 4568. It is a Lizzie McGuire pattern. The more I look at it though I think that I may try to make her a pink or light blue pair of capri's for the Disney Cuties one since I am not to sure about the black. I can't decide.

I love reading this board and am so excited to see all the wonderful things that everyone makes! I love the Peter Pan outfit! My dd loves the Rainbow Magic Fairy books so she wants me to make a fairy costume for her. She used to want the princesses but I think that she is growing up and moving away from those :sad1:

Hi, Are there still the new Yahoo goups??? I am interested in joining the ebay one...Can someone pm me how? Thanks..

A (cute not scary) witch and bumblebee are on my list too :goodvibes

The pumpkin costume I have is this one: http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=6166&cmSource=Search

It's even cuter in person! I bought the black long sleeved onesie and black tights from The Childrens Place. The Jack o lantern face actually comes off, and it's really cute that way too!

DD just made 11 months. How old is your daughter?

Very cute pumpkin, I like how the green "collar" looks Did you see the hershey kiss???? Very cute. If I could just get the hat and then make a silver tutu (Yes I'm very hung up on this tutu idea)

She's 3 1/2 months....and not a bit spoiled:rotfl2: The pic in my sig is from the hospital you can see my boys are simply in love with her:love: They are pushing for her to be tinkerbell. I want to avoid the wings till she's walking. I think they'll be a pain to wear in the stroller. I think all my friends will be shocked she's not something disney related but I'm not in the mood for princess and I can't think of anything else fun so I'm on to other things this year.
