And, here are 2 of the shirts I made for the teen girls going with us (all 7 of us will have shirts from this fabric)

They picked their patterns:

This came out great (so did everything else you made)! :woohoo: Is that Mickey fabric cotton or flannel? I love the print but I've only ever seen a flannel version of that print by me. Then again, there is not much variety in my neck of the woods! ;)

Wow! I haven't been on for a while - darn that whole work thing - and there is so much to catch up on! Such cute outfits, everyone! Those smocked outfits are so gorgeous! I've been considering learning to smock, but I think DH may cut me off if I pick up a new hobby! Between scrapbooking and sewing, my checkbook has been hurting!

I've got a couple of new creations! One for DS and one for DD - well, not so much for DD as she is just modeling it, LOL!

Ok - now to catch up on all the new posts!

I love both of these! I'm starting to think I'll have to contract all camp shirts for my DS's out to you! :rotfl: I have fabric all cut for mine, but those collars...what a pain! You've given me hope that I too can master the technique! Love the Cars print, I haven't seen it before and the Minnie/Animal print top is just too cute! :cutie:

Just had to show you how cute the shoes turned out. Thanks again for letting me know where to find them!

I had a little shirt and hair bows made as well (bought off ebay - I don't have a crafty bone in my body). I am also having a little Cinderella dress made as well - I'll post once I get it :)

These are sooooo cute! Wow...makes me wish my DD was small again! I love the sneakers-awesome! I have two plain pairs and all the paints, but I'm waiting to be inspired before I do anything to them! I keep thinking I'll mess the shoes up and then it will look like VanGoh got a hold of them with some abstract mess! :rotfl:

Way Cool!!!!

My favorite ribbon shirt yet!!! And the shoes are TDF!!! I'm gonna try to make some for dd, wish me luck!

I really need to quite being scared and try a shirt like that! For some reason, sleeves scare me!

I've had Minnie dot laying up against leopard print for a while trying to decide if I like it together or not. I love yours!! We already have AK outfits for this year, so I can't decide whether to save it and wait for next trip or make it for that auction site ;) .

Very nice for teens!

I finally found my Mickey and Minnie dot print! I only had to drive 45 minutes... I also found the other fabrics pictured as possible coordinates in a stripwork jumper. Now...I need suggestions from all you pros on how I can put them all together. Please help!

Those all look great together! Can't wait to see what you crreate!

First of all, I don't know how you all did it,but I started reading this morning even before I got my COFF:surfweb: EE (the boss is out!)

The stripe is meant to go with the dot - it is called minnie girl stripe! SKU# 8609372. I was thinking of trying to do a stripwork dress like the mickey one that nanascustomcreations did. Hers was just beautiful. I like the dot for the bodice. Not sure about the mickey head applique and the ruffle. Should I use all of the fabrics in the skirt? Does a stripe look strange in a stripwork skirt? Any suggestions for fabric placement in the strips - do you think certain fabrics should go next to each other? I really want to get this right - the fabric was scary expensive altogether...

I LOVE stripes, especially striped ruffles...I used a stripe in my stripwork cuties dress, which is in the photo album (at least the fabric is). And that stripe is the dot's coordinate so I wouldn't hesitate to use it. Someone said to use more of the dot fabric, I don't see why you couldn't just use those two fabrics. I think, depending on the size of the dress/top your making sometimes(not always, no flaming- I wan't talking about any outfit in particular!!!) more fabrics is overkill.

GLORIB!!! I hadn't thought to use minnie fabric in my AK outfit- This might mean back to the drawing board. Good thing I haven't had time to actually start any of my projects!!! JEESH!

So here's the rundown...
Before OCT I have these projects to finish
MK outfit (HAVE the minnie Dot already): Minnie dot redondo-style spiral twirl skirt (possibly attached to the top half of bib-overalls, if I can make it work!) w/ shirred dot shirt w/ short puffy sleeves (does that make sense?) I may make pants to go w/ this since it will be the end of OCT though w/ this heat I don't see it being very cool then either.

AK outfit(no solid idea yet), Epcot outfit (material is on its way) possibly a twirl top w/ jeans??)

My Snow White Nappy bag and bags for my MIL(POOH) and her BFF(MICKEY)

PLUS I have to finish knitting this darned afghan before my nephew arrives in late aug. OH, and I have to make a zoot suit for DH, flapper dresses for DD and I and who knows what for my son for MNSSHP-which I FINALLY have tickets for (on the 28th)

Okay, who has a magic wand I can borrow?
...t.

Disney-a-go-go! I also meant to mention that after I made dd's stripwork dress I thought, "I should have made every other stiped panel go sideways"
I never actually checked to see what that would look like but I think it would be neat if you only use the dot and stripe and did that. imo.

You know, it never fails...I always post twice!

The long awaited photos of creepy boy! He said he likes his outfit but not enough to wear in public: only at Disney. He did sleep in it tonight so I think he likes it a little (or he is humoring me). Look, I made a matching shirt for DH too!

And did I mention I need to lose 20 punds before then?:rotfl:

(more with this Mickey fabric to come!)

Love it! I'll have to show DH this when he gets home tonight - I've been trying to convince him to let me make him something, but he's yet to go for it. Maybe this will change his mind!

Can't wait to see what else you make with this fabric!

glorib

I love your new shirts. The appliques on your son's shirt are amazing! It's my favorite post of yours yet. I also love your dds top. What pattern did you use?

Thanks!!!!! For DD's top, I altered Butterick 5019.

Ooooh, that skull fabric is creepy! But very cool - I love how the shorts have the red stripes! Looks great!

Cute! Love the ribbon shirt and the bows! I especially love the shoes! I've been thinking about shoes for dd for our trip - I think I will just buy some white shoes and coordinating ribbon and just change out the ribbon for the outfits - that way I don't have to pack 10 pairs of shoes! Or maybe I'll have to just get a couple pairs of the painted ones. . . ;)

Since the Mickey/Minnie dot fabric is the dominant fabric, I would be sure to use it more than once in your order of fabrics. Such as, the large dot, the teal, the orange dot, the large dot, the pink, the stripe, the yellow dot, the large dot, the teal, etc....

Do you know what I mean? Whenever you work with multiple prints, you want to give dominance to the most dominant print. It will give it more balance overall.

Great coordinating of prints. I love them all!

Wow great applique work on the Cars shirt! Love it!
Adorable animal kingdom outfit! Very cute. I like the zebra print a lot!

These fabrics are beautiful! I love the striped fabric. I would make Mickey and Minnie the bodice and then strips all around the skirt. I wouldn't do an appliqued Mickey head on the bodice. If you are making a small size then if you put a Mickey head applique on it you won't be able to see the characters on the fabric.

I love your fabrics together and it will be adorable when you are done. Can't wait to see it. Where did you find it all? Can you pm me? I would love to make some pants for DD's top with the striped fabric.

I don't know how you would feel about this, but how about the stripe for the bodice, with either a mickey head appliques, or a couple of the Mickey and Minnie pairs from the dot fabric appliqued on the bodice. Since the dot fabric is your favorite, why not just make it the "dress/skirt" portion entirely? Then it would be beautiful and flowing. I would then maybe the stripe as the bottom ruffle. Or if you are set on using all of those other fabrics, cut strip like portions of those (use the envelope tip Castle Creations posted a while back on her Back to School outfit) and have them be the bottom ruffle. I really like the strip work style, probably the best out of any custom style I've seen, but when you are in love with one particular fabric, don't take away from that fabric. That was the advice I was given with these fabrics I love the ABC print, so in order not to take away from it, I am going to make it the full skirt. Good luck any way you choose. Please let us know what you decide!

This came out great (so did everything else you made)! :woohoo: Is that Mickey fabric cotton or flannel? I love the print but I've only ever seen a flannel version of that print by me. Then again, there is not much variety in my neck of the woods! ;)

It's cotton. I gave up looking for it locally and finally found enough (10 yards) on ebay for a good price. (every once in a while I find good prices on ebay) I just made sure to ask the sellers (got 5 yards from 2 different people) if it was "quilters cotton or flannel", using those two specific terms.

So here's the rundown...
Before OCT I have these projects to finish
MK outfit (HAVE the minnie Dot already): Minnie dot redondo-style spiral twirl skirt (possibly attached to the top half of bib-overalls, if I can make it work!) w/ shirred dot shirt w/ short puffy sleeves (does that make sense?) LOL you do have a lot on your plate. Me too! We leave Sept 22 and I still have 3 Mickey Swirl head shirts (put the goop on in the shape and spray paint the shirts), 4 shirts with the blue check Mickey fabric, 2 shirts with the bright Mickey fabric, 3 t-shirts with the bright Mickey fabric appliquéd (to go with the other 4 shirts I'm making from 'scratch'), 7 shirts (or 6 shirts and one dress) with the red Mickey fabric and 4 costumes (Wendy, Mr Smee, Peter Pan and Tiger Lily). Oh yeah, I bought 1 yard of the camo Mickey (blue fabric with the thin red Mickey outlines) to do t-shirts too. So that's another 4 to 7 shirts (depends on how many Mickey heads I can get out of that 1 yard of fabric) --- so, if my math is right, that's 27 to 30 outfits, 17 of which have to be made from 'scratch' --- plus I'm making test run shirts on cheap fabric for me because I'm an odd fit. (so add a couple more in there for tests...) Thank heavens I already have all the fabric!!! (well, I still need the blue for the skirt if I do the red Mickey as a dress for me - but I can get cheap cotton for that)

Love it! I'll have to show DH this when he gets home tonight - I've been trying to convince him to let me make him something, but he's yet to go for it. Maybe this will change his mind!

Can't wait to see what else you make with this fabric!

Well, make sure you tell him you can put plain buttons on it! If he's on the fence (or running away from the fence :lmao: ) you don't want to push the Mickey buttons.... :lmao: Good luck with that! Let us know what he says!

Don't remember who had the skull fabric, but I agree - it IS creepy!! I don't look forward to the day when my DS is old enough to want stuff like that.

Thought the camo/ghost fabric was great!

My only concern about this fabric combo is that, isn't the DOTS fabric a lot heavier than the standard cotton fabric? Will it hang right with a strip work skirt? And I don't know about 'flowing' since it's heavier too. From when I felt it at the store a few weeks ago, I'd describe it as a light to light-medium weight denim (in weight/texture).
I'd use it for the top and the other fabrics for the skirt and then maybe appliqué some of the Mickey/Minnie images on the skirt panels.
I've never made a strip skirt (would look pretty darn silly on a BOY!) so I don't know if you can mix those fabrics well or not. Hope someone with more experience can chime in before you start cutting.

Hi everyone! I've been working on one last project (outfit) for someone and I've finally been able to start something for my dd. She wanted a Minnie cheer outfit, so I'm almost done with the skirt. I ran out of ribbon and rick rack this morning, so that was the end of that. LOL. I don't know what kind of top I will do, it depends on what she'd like.
I've also had two non payers lately with our favorite auction site. People think they can take forever to pay, and that you will just sit and wait. Sorry, I don't. :rotfl: I give them about 20 days to pay and that's it. It's a shame. So I had to relist the famous, look-a-like outfit that I had some complaints about making. So here goes again...:rotfl:
I will post some photos this weekend, of the cheer outfit and of my kids of the world outfit that it sitting here looking at me...LOL

20 days? You are much too nice! I hated selling on Ebay cause I always seemed to get the ones that thought Ebay was some kind of layaway program! You either have the $ to buy, or you don't! Made me crazy! Hope you have better luck with the new listings! ;)
