I have seen this set before. I loooove Cinderella smocking plates!! My DD had a smocked Cinderella Easter dress and it was just gorgeous! Thank goodness I have a cousin that smocks for me. The pic is in the gallery.

You're lucky! I'm going to take a smocking class in the fall. Pretty much everything she wears is smocked. I know I wouldn't be able to make lots of outfits, but it'd be nice if I could make her something special now and then.

I don't remember your Cinderella. I'm going to go look for it :)

I know this has been posted before, but I thought I'd repeat it since a lot of us miss stuff on this fast-moving thread.

As I was getting my fabric cut at my local WalMart (on Shaver Rd in Portage, MI for any locals), the woman at the fabric counter told me they're probably going to close the fabric department when they turn the store into a Super WalMart. This has already happened at one of our WalMarts (Gull Rd in Kalamazoo, MI) and they're thinking of closing them all, or just scaling them back to selling "notions" and no fabric. She told me to either call corporate or e-mail corporate if I want them to keep the fabric departments open. She said to get everyone I know to do this, as it's a chain-wide issue. So, here's the info you need to keep WalMart fabric departments open:

Phone number 1-800-WALMART
E-mail corporate (it's a link on WalMart's website): http://walmartstores.com/GlobalWMStoresWeb/navigate.do?catg=221

Please call and e-mail, and encourage everyone else you know to do so! Many of us don't have any fabric stores, besides WalMart, nearby!
I didn't know they closed the one on Gull Rd!
The one on 9th ST is suppose to be getting the fabric back. At least that's what the lady there told me. She said that they got so many phone calls and emails that they decided to send them more fabric. So, they do seem to be listening. Even if your fabric department isn't closing, call and email anyway! let them know how we feel!

Our new Super Walmart, opening soon, is suppose to have a fabric department. At least that's what I was told by a relative of ours that will be working there. I hope she's right.

WOW The stuff just keeps getting better!!!:cool1:

Quick Questions for you talented pros...what is the best type of glue to add bling to fabric? I went to buy some today and walked out ...there are just too many to choose from!!!!!!!!

The funny thing is I walked out thinking .."I know I'll post on that boutique thread and they will know what the best type and brand is to use!"

How is it I think Disney all day long?

O.k., so we can probably assume that she'll be walking by 3! I'd hold off on having anything done to it though. You never know what kind of things she'll like by then. I have know girls that just won't wear dresses by 3 no matter what their mom's do!!!:scared1:

I finished an outfit yesterday! I have had such a crazy summer that I haven't gotten any sewing done so it feels really good to have this outfit totally complete!

This is for my 6 year old niece, Blayke to wear on her Christmas trip to Disneyworld! I kept it pretty basic. You can't see the detail very well, but the neck and arm holes are lined with rick rack.

Where did you find this Minnie dot fabric? I can't find it anywhere now TIA!

I ordered it from Hancock on line. I got some more at the store today that was actually on sale for $3 a yard. The licensed children's fabrics were 25% off, but I had to point out to the girl that it was a licensed. She was trying to tell me it wasn't actually Minnie dots so I had her read the label.

You'll love smocking. It's addicting.During our last move, I either misplaced or lost my Pullen pleater. That was 5 years ago.
On Saturday,I won an ebay auction for an Amanda Jane pleater with 50 plates!!!. I can't wait to jump back in......If anyone does find a Cinderella or any other Disney plate, please post or email me!!!!! Thanks. Julie

I would use E6000. You can get it at Wal-Mart.

Okay. It usually takes me forever to be happy with my own things. I am happy with the back... but I am considering ripping out the ruffle on the front...

(Please ignore my DD7's frizzy hair and odd expression....)

Here's the back:

And here is the front. It's the blue ruffle under the tie that I am considering ripping out...

WOW! That looks fantastic! I love the ruffles in the back! Your appliques are wonderful! I would like it better without the blue ruffle in the front. I think it detracts from your gorgeous applique work.

This is absolutely adorable! I love it, great job!

I won another smocked outfit on eBay today. I didn't really want a shorts set, but I loved this smocking plate and the shorts are cute enough. If I can't stand it when it gets here, I'll take it to a seamstress and have something custom made with this smocking plate and find another for the shorts set.

Anyway, I loved that it's not the typical Cinderella scene:

This is stunning! I really like the shorts.

I think I will too. My SIL learned how to smock when her daughter was little and drove everyone crazy with her last minute work. My MIL said she'd buy the smocked outfits if SIL would just give it up :rotfl: . Maybe she'll offer me the same deal ;)

I realize there's more to smocking than this, but can you use cross stitch patterns? I also wondered if there's a way to digitize (I realize that's probably not the right terminology, but getting it from a picture to a smocking pattern) designs, like you can do for embroidery?

I'll definitely let you know if I see any Disney designs.

You wanna teach me? ;)

Adoralicious! I love the pants that match! She's going to love it!

I am digging the smocked detailing. My DD has a few dresses. E-bay you say? Hmmmm.

Ok, my new friends! I went and bought a cheap sewing machine to tide me over till I can afford a new serger.... and a tube top dress, the fixin's for my Ariel costume, an Alice costume, AND, a pattern for a summer top and capris that I got purple Ariel fabric for. Plus all the notions and stuff for all these projects. Now, I'm quite rusty so we'll see how it goes. Wish me luck!!!! Y'all cost me a LOT of money today :rolleyes1 !!

I love it! I love all the rick rack too! really makes it pop.

Great job on the alice dress!

Aww UtahMama.... Congrats on the sewing machine!! You will do fine! We have had plenty of first timers do BEAUTIFUL work.... and you have experience. Good Luck! Have fun, just think that when someone compliments an outfit you made you can say "THANKS! I made it!!" :goodvibes jen

I show DH so many things on here he is trying to buy me a new sewing machine!! There are other things that we should be purchasing first though, but I think that is so sweet he wants to get me a new one

I really love this!!! Nice work!

Ok, I wish I was showing you both kids' pirate outfits but the sewing machine ate my son's shirt! I'll have to get another shirt and try again. I think the machine did not like the iron on I used to attach the mickey head to the shirt. At least I hope so because I have tried everything else to fix it.

My daughter is pleased with her outfit. The short ruffle is the creepy skull fabric that my son picked out for his shorts. You couldn't really tell that is was skulls, so we added a bling skull. I wish I would have added more tulle: I used a half a yard and then cut rough triangles so it would look piratey. I then sewed the scraps into the scrunchie. It was fun. Oh, and I altered a pattern for the first time! This pattern called for a zipper and I thought no way, so I made the yoke bigger and put elastic in the waist. Anyway, enough rambling, here it is:

Nice Jpb! This is really cute!!!!

Love all the new stuff!!!

I would leave the black sleves on the Mickey shirt. I think it makes it look like an older childs shirt. Can't wait to see it on. LOVE the fabric too.

I gotta get sewing more so I can post something again:thumbsup2 . Keep up the good work!!

Good Luck but I had :rotfl2: about the costing you a LOT of money today. This thread costs me a lot of money all the time. It won't end. I'm now doing the "gee, I don't NEED this fabric but let's buy it because it's Disney and eventually I'm going to want to use it for something" or I'll see a fabric & think "you know, you could cut out this part of it & then sew that onto this, etc..." THEN to top it off, I saw the pink Mickey fabric that I love, so what do I do? When I found it, I bought the entire bolt! I don't have a clue what I'm going to make with the fabric but just loved it. I don't think I've ever bought so much fabric but now everytime I see something I really love, especially if it's on sale -- I end up buying a ton of it to make sure I don't run out.

The new thing on my Christmas (or when our tax return comes in) list is an embroidery machine. Probably the Disney one. Hmmm...that never seemed to become an urgent "need" even crossed my mind actually until this thread.

I ended up spending $40 on Villian iron-ons too and I don't think I'm done yet with that.

I've not even MADE much compared to everyone else, I just keep gathering more stuff.

It is a never ending obsession now. :rotfl2:

At least you have someone to sew for and to wear your obsession!! I spent most of yesterday at fabric stores buying up what I could find- and my baby is 24 years old!! I'd try to make her one of these outfits, but I just don't think she'd go for it! :lmao:

You could sew for my baby, she is only 4 years old. :rolleyes1 lol.

Yesterday, I took the plunge. I went to JoAnns and bought a pattern and some fabric. My friend said she would help me sew an outfit for Madison. So I am off to her house. I hope it comes out ok. Madison is in Ohio with my in laws for a week, so I will post pics when she gets home. That is if the outfit comes out right. Wish me luck.
