Question on the teenage style shirring tink shirt a few pages back....

Do you cut your material longer that the actual size needed to allow for the gathering? and if so how much should I allow? Do I have to pull and gather in or does it do it by itself with the elastic.

When I made one similar, the directions on the elastic thread said to make the fabric 2x the width wanted. It gathers itself as you do more rows. Very easy the first time I tried it!

I think it would look cute with one Mickey sleeve. It looks really nice though.

I have to say I love the fabric!!! Is it new or vintage. It is adorable and I would love to something with it for myself!!

It is actually an old sheet that I had from college, I had two and never really used one so I use it to sew with. I have made a dress from it and now a shirt.

Castle Creations, I love the back to school outfit. I wish my dd was little again to dress in something like that. She starts middle school this year so I had to find some "cool" fabrics and patterns.

I got the princess fabric at Joann's. I don't see any on their website.

I looked with Google and on Ebay and I don't find any. I would look at your local Joann fabric or call around.

The selvage says #CP10812 Disney for Springs Global US, Inc.

Good Luck I hope you find some. I am searching for that really cute Pirate fabric a few people have posted. It looks like a treasure map. I really don't want to buy it from Ebay.

I saw some at joannes a while back but I think it is hit or miss!

Ok here is my next creation for my dd. How does it look honestly? Does it look ok with the two black sleeves or should I change it to one black and the other in the Mickey fabric?

I haven't sewn this much in awhile! You guys are such an inspiration and have really gotten me back into sewing again! Now to work on a cruise dress..

I really like the way the sleeves look the way they are, I wouldn't change a thing!

I think it would be cute if the left sleeve was the mickey print and leave the right one black.

Can't wait to see the cruise dress!

Ok, question... where do I find directions for these shorts?

And this outfit? Is it called a jonjon?

There are some really cute fleece and flannel Disney prints, but I have no idea what could be done with them. I know it's still summer and we're mostly working with cotton fabric, but any ideas for fleece or flannel?

OMG!!! This is TOO CUTE!!! I really hope you made that for yourself!!! I would so love to have a shirt like that!!! So amazingly perfect!!!

Everyone's stuff is looking so great! I had promised myself I'd sew tonight right after I updated my mp3 player...and here I am, still not sewing!! I need a swift kick in the ---- to get going!! DH is not happy with the piles of fabrics ready to go and me "playing" on the computer. Of course, the fabric piles are all over the study we "share". :rotfl2: So are his computer parts but do I say anything...no! ;) Anyone else dealing with this?

I am thinking of bidding on some flat sheets on ebay. For you super smart Dis-ers out there a quick question...approx how many yards is in one flat sheet? I don't want to outprice myself, and have a general idea about fabric and yards and price, but really don't know how to compare to a sheet. There is a Snow White set I want. Thanks, oh and is there a differnece in yardage between a flat and fitted sheet?

I loved that fabric when I saw it!

this is exactly the same as my dh and i. we use our single garage as a 'computer room' but when i brought my machine a few months ago DH had to make some space for me as my sewing machine has to be plugged into the computer with a USB cord to do embroidery. he is always complaining that my stuff is slowly invading more and more of his space each day. although i would never agree and admit it to him, i have actually been doing a little rearranging while he is at work. i must stop soon though other he will catch on and probably use tape on the ground to divide the room into his space/my space. he is also complaining that i am always using the internet computer(we have a comp just for games too) and he can never use it when he needs it. i had little to no interest in the net or sewing until a few months ago when this thread opened!

Found an awesome custom boutique L!LO halter set sz 6 on ebay today. it is sooo adorable. We do not need it, but thought someone here may be looking for that size for an upcoming trip!

New Fabric-

My DD's and I had to get out of the house today so Daddy could do homework. (He is in grad school.) We went to JoAnne's and Hancock Fabrics today. I hit the Simplicity patterns. We bought all the princess patterns. I fugured for $1.99 it was worth it.

My plan is to make the Sleeping Beauty dress where the faries are fighting. It will be pink and blue. We are surprising the girls with WDW on Christmas morning. They are going to get a clue box and the dress will be the big clue.

We found some really cute fabric. They had a black Mickey disco-ish fabric at Hancocks. At JoAnne's we got a lot of halloween fabric. DD wants a halloween dancing dress. Too funny. Her confidence is amazing. I will take some photos later tonight of the new Disney stuff.

Sewing/ Craft Rooms-

I know I have mentioned it before. I am an artist and I do have my own Art Studio in my home. The Art room is a favorite in the house. Before I had children I taught art. Our den was a place for me to do my lesson plans and my personal crafting. This spring I re-did the room to better reflect my needs with my buisness. It is a mess right now my Dh promised to help me tonight. I will take pics and post them. I do not have a huge space but it is heaven to me.

Tinker Bell dress-

Here are the pics of the dress on my DD. I has a good twirl factor.

The dress is adorable and so is the model. That cake is pretty too! Happy Birthday to your baby girl!

I lover your DD's tink dress!! Too cute!! I am a wicked pink and green fan!
Me too! I'm redecorating DD's room in pink, green and yellow. I can't wait to sew her curtains. It's the most beautiful fabric!

I have been busy doing some scrapbooking so I haven't had time to post.

Here are a couple I just finished.

Princesses for DD princess: When I showed her this fabric in the store she told me it was ugly. I bought it anyways and made the outfit. Now she won't take it off! :lmao: I am going to quit asking. She told me she didn't like the friends around the world fabric either, we'll see what she thinks when it is finished. She really seems to like the apron style dresses though.

Twirling. Not a lot of twirl factor.

I made the pajamas DS is wearing back in January. I don't know why he wants to wear longsleeved flannel pajamas in the summer. Probably because they have pirates on them LOL pirate:
Cute on both accounts!

Ok here is my next creation for my dd. How does it look honestly? Does it look ok with the two black sleeves or should I change it to one black and the other in the Mickey fabric?

I think it looks great, but I'd probably do the other sleeve in the matching Mickey fabric.

Also look for romper or shortall.

Thank you so much for all your encouraging words! I will have dd try it on today and hopefully post that later. I still am torn on if I should change the black to Mickey. I think that the black breaks up all the Mickey. Here is what it looks like now and what it would look like with the Mickey. I think I am leaning towards keeping the black but it is nice to get others opinions. Do you think it will look bad if I keep the black?

I think I like it better with the Mickey sleeve. With two black sleeves it looks choppy.

I made my daughter a flannel nightgown with princess fabric and she loves it. It was very simple, with no sleeves and she wears is almost every night here in the Florida summer heat! I took scraps and added a ruffle to the bottom of some capris and cut out pieces and ironed them on to the capris and a tank top and she loves the outfit.

You did a GREAT job!!! Is this the one with the lining too? It looks fantastic!!!
When Heather (hkite)was a little girl, she had a lime green bathing suit. I LOVED it, becasue I could keep always find her when we were swimming! So easy to spot!

Yes this was the one with the lining. The directions called for slip stitching the lining at the bottom. I couldn't figure that out, so I glued it with liquid stitch. My mother is coming in a few weeks to watch the kids and she said she would come a day early to teach me the "proper" way to do it. She suggested I take a sewing class, but I just like to figure it out as I go. Thanks for the compliments!

Well, I am working on my pirate outfits and I ran out of black thread, so guess where I'm going today? :rolleyes1

I thought it looked great as you origionally posted it , but then you posted it with the Mickey sleeve, and I have to say, I REALLY like it that way! What a cute comfortable top. I think this style can work for little girls, teens and adults too.

I like it better with the black sleeve myself. Great job!

I wanted to try adding some Mickey head appliques to some Denim shortalls.

Unfortunately, our old navy only had long overalls. Our trip is coming up and it is just too hot for overalls. They had a few shortalls but they were only baby sizes. I need size 3t.

Does anyone know where to get size 3t denim shortalls? I guess I should just try a different Old Navy. I did get DD some nice denim shorts, and a couple pairs of jeans. The shorts were only 6.99 and the jeans were only 3.99. But the shorts were a perfect fit!

Why not cut a long pair or fold them up to make capris?? Or, are they for a boy? If they were for a boy, you could still cut them and add a fabric cuff or let them fray for a different look!
