Your son and daughter are so adorable! He is so handsome in his shirt. BTW, how does he handle Disney? We are going in a few months, and I am scared ds will not be able to deal with all the sensory issues there.

Hi~ Last year he did good. He doesn't care for the dark, loud noise, or the Characters, but we had a good time! This past April when we went was a different story. Since he knew some of the stuff he was really a stick in the mud, part of the reason I didn't do a TR. We are going back in October and DS is going to be staying with his grandma and grandpa (he will have much more fun there). I figure I will give him a year or two and try it again. We had a great time being there as a family, he just wasn't feeling Disney this past time. It won't hold me back in say late 2008 though. I just think going in Oct may be to soon for him. jen

OK, this outfit was the hardest I've done and I am so proud of it! I went to JoAnn's almost every day this week to get it done. Here is a summary of my misadventures:

Trip 1: Bought fabric, ribbon, elastic and thread. Mom gave me the pattern.
Trip 2: Finished the capris and noticed that I needed red thread to sew on the red ribbon on the bottom. Bought red thread.
Trip 3: Sewed the ribbon on and it looks like crap. Went back to JoAnn's to buy Mickey head buttons to glue on the sides. Covered the bad spot and looks cute!
Trip 4: Finished the top and it is way too short! Went back to the JoAnn's to buy more fabric to make another tier. Had to rip out hem and everything.

And I appliquéd! I was scared but it really wasn't that bad. I even used the scraps and made myself an appliquéd t-shirt. I appliquéd the pink fabric onto the green fabric and then ironed the whole thing on the t-shirt. I am not brave enough to appliqué onto knit yet! Megan made a bracelet out of the leftover buttons. I was worried the lime green and pink were too bright together, but my husband said at least we won't lose her at Disney!

OK I have been looking daily at these threads for weeks and have lots of ideas to try for our upcoming trip, BUT I DO NOT HAVE A SEWING MACHINE !!!

So...I decided to start with some costumes for MNSSHP...
DD - 7 wants to be Minnie, so DD - 11 agreed to be Mickey, but didn't want to be all "costumed"...

I got a red skort from Walmart and heat and bonded the minnie print over one layer...a little lace on the bottom, some ruffled material heat bonded to a white tank etc...lace on the bottom and back was hand sewn

Mickey was just some ruffled ribbon to the edges...she is happy with that...now just some ears and white gloves they are set and I am ready to try my techniques at some custom tops...stay tuned

wanted her hair to look like Mickey ears !!!

so any no sewers out there...we can play too !!!

I love these outfits! You are so creative!! I love Mickey's Ears! I hope she is going to do that for MNSSHP!

GUESS WHAT I FOUND!!!!!!!!!????????
ok, some of you may have already seen these but i was so excited.....i was looking aournd on ebay and i found hannah montana and hsm bottlecaps made into mecklaces and hairbows. they looked just like the disney ones that you guys use (tink, mickey, etc) i want some! but i cant find them anywhere or online. my question is this, do you think the sellers are "making" them? ive seen plain caps so maybe theyre just using a really small pic they have and putting a clear sealer on it? just search hm bottlecaps on ebay and youll see them. PLEASE someone look into this and let me know. my dd would LOVE them! off to bed- its late on the east coast!

I finally finished a Disney outfit!!!! I did a Minnie dot dress and tomorrow after church I am going to put Minnie dot cuffs on a pair of jeans to match. My niece is going to wear it to DW for her Christmas trip and I will probably use the pictures to list it on ebay eventually.

I am severely neurotic and I just can't get any work done until my sewing stuff is all organized. I had been keeping it in my laundry room and getting it out when I wanted to sew. Every time I put the stuff away it got all jumbled up and turned into a mess where I could never find what I needed. Anyway, I bought a set of shelves and set up a little sewing area in a corner in my bedroom. I threatened my daughters with their lives if they even think of touching any of my sewing stuff! I am really looking forward to all of the sewing I am going to be able to get to!!!!! Where do you guys all keep your stuff and how do you keep it organized. I still don't really have a great place to keep the extra fabric. I am looking for a bigger dresser for my bedroom so I will probably just put the fabric in my bedroom closet when I make the space.

Ugh, I am not organized at all. I sew in the dining room and throw everything into a drawer in our china cabinet. I have a stack of leftover fabric, a stack of patterns and a stack of other stuff (fusing and interfacing, etc). Then everything else is an old Dillards bag. When I am looking for something I have to dump the whole bag out. I saw a really nice organizer at JoAnn's. It has two plastic cases inside and lots of pockets and it is deep. It has a handle and a shoulder strap (I guess for sewing on the go). It is $34 so I am waiting for it go on sale or to use a coupon. The problem is whenever I get a coupon I use it on fabric, LOL!

They also had a matching box for organizing patterns. And a large rolling storage container (looks like the scrapbook organizers). That might work for you because you could put everything in it and roll it out when you can sew and roll it back to the laundry room when you are done. Anyway, good luck organizing, that's always my biggest challenge too!

This was my first attempt at sewing!!! Not Disney, but not too bad!! I have to put buttons on and maybe add a ruffle - DD wanted to wear it to our Model-T club brunch this morning. I started and finished it all last night!!!

Good for you!!! I've not made anything for myself either. I do plan on a AK shirt, but other than that, I'm not sure what to do.

I have read most of this thread - don't know where I've been I *JUST* found it... I need some help please!
I have a twirl skirt I am working on for DD and I would like to finish is up but I can't seem to get my gathering stitch to work for me the thread keeps breaking. Can someone HELP and let me know what to do?!

What I do is zig-zag over dental floss to gather. It's much stronger than thread and doesn't ever break. Hope this helps!

Yep, they are most definitely making them. Some have the image in the inside of the bottlecap, some on the outside. They are basically reducing the image, putting it on a plain bottlecap and then putting on a clearcoat to seal it all. They are adorable, that's for sure!!! My oldest DD would flip for the HSM ones.

I have a room in the house for my crafts, but it is also where I do my sewing for work when needed...so kind of a necessity. One thing that is great for fabric storage is those clear plastic bins-you can easily see what you have and the bins stack nicely (you can even slide some of them under the bed). Anything that is not on a bolt or a roll goes in a bin for me.

I used a "quilting thread" I found at Walmart..it is thicker and feels almost like it has some type of coating similair to dental floss !

SOOO cute!! You did a great job. So, did you ever figure out how much the outfit cost, including gas? Wait, don't do it!! I think it's funny when people think you save money by sewing stuff yourself. It's really about having fun doing it and creating something unique!

I'm new to all this, so I haven't found a good place for my sewing stuff. It currently resides in my guest room. Some of it's on the floor, and some of it's in a storage bin. It's not organized and that's driving me crazy. I'm trying to talk my husband into finishing the basement, just so I can have a sewing area! Yes, the obsession has gone that far!

WOO-HOO!!! I just realized this is my 100th post!!! I've been around these boards for 3 1/2 years and the vast majority of my posts have been on this board in the last 3 weeks! Thank you all for boosting my post count!

I have lots of the rainbow ribbon left, some of the pink bias tape, and some of the Cuties fabric left over. I don't really want to buy anything else, so what do you think I could do to "jazz" them up? I've got a few ideas, I just want to see if you guys think of something I haven't thought of.

What I like to do is keep my fabric in rubbermaid boxes labeled. Hoiday/ character/ winter / summer etc. then I like to have smaller boxes for projects and clients. I try to keep it seperated so it is on hand and I can find it immedietly. I even have a box of items just to sell on ebay, like winter items waiting for october to list for xmas etc!
I have to keep orginized or I go crazy!!!!

How about a strip of the fabric in the middle of the bottom portion of the capri with one ribbon/tape framing it on the top and then one on the bottom?
It would keep the clean look you have going with the top (which is adorable)
If you want more frilly you could always do the ruffle sewn on the bottom and then border it with one or both of the ribbon/tapes.
Another idea is to make little ties like you have on the shoulders of the top and add those to the bottom sides of the capris Wherer the cuff or whatever it is starts. Then add some more tape and or ribbon to the capri around the bottom of the leg.

Just some of my ideas. It is a very cute top . I am all for ruffles and frilly but this is a really "clean" crisp looking top! Great job!!!

I am new to the Disign boards. I have been absolutely enchanted by all of the creativity and gorgeous outfits I have seen posted. I would love to try my hand at some but I am not sure where to begin It doesn't help that I haven't the slightest idea on how to operate a sewing machine

I really would like to try to make these Minnie inspired shoes
