Here's my interpretation of a JoJo's Circus skirt. I am completely at a loss as to what I'm going to do for a shirt. I've never done applique. TDS doesn't have any JoJo tees. The few that are on ebay aren't the correct color. Any ideas?

I have been lurking on this thread for a long time. I can't wait to wake up each morning to see if any new pictures are posted. Amazing Work Ladies!:thumbsup2

When I was younger, I made a few pillows and in Home ec a pair of shorts, but I don't remember any of it! I can sew a button on and that's about it.

I have wanted a sewing machine for years, but just never got around to getting one. But, I plan to buy one........thanks to all of you!:goodvibes

My DD's are 11 & 12, but I hope to still be able to make things for them. You're never too old in Disney, right?;)

Thank you all for the inspiration! I hope soon I can post some pictures of the things I plan to make!

I'm looking for necklace/bracelet set for this outfit -

IMG_1218.jpg

Anyone got a good seller?
I'd also like to find a bracelet to go with the Mickey Swirl

IMG_1200.jpg

I made DD a leopard print set for AK, and this is the bracelet I got to match on eBay. I'm sure if you sent her a picture of the fabric, she could match the "swirl" set, too. She has tons of cute jewelry. :)

I need to find her eBay name, but I can PM it to you if you're interested. :)

That is too cute! I love the colors.

I'm having a hard time keeping up with all the seamstresses. I'm stuck way back on the pink/black Mickey and tulle skirt. This is my first project ever, so I'm basically learning how to sew from everyone on this board. How was the tulle pieces sewn together? Was one thread pink and bobbin thread black? Was it fused w/ the iron stuff? How many inches was each section? I am determined to make this!
AND.......do you buy the tulle at Walmart for .77 or do you use a coupon at Joann's? I didn't see any duplicate Disney frabrics at both places. But I saw the retro Mickey swirl for 9.99/yd. (wait for the coupon, right? It's 50% off and it starts July 1st).

Can you tell me exactly which "easy little skirt" you are making? I was looking at the directions for, I think it was a strip/e(?) skirt...confusing directions, don't know where to start. I need to start with something easy to build my confidence.

Thanks!

The pattern is from sewing for dummies by simplicity. I saw someone had made a Jasmine outfit with it so I gave it a try. It comes with capris, shorts, skirt and matching tops. I made this skirt with it for 4th of July and it totally doesn't matter that I can't cut perfectly straight because it's gathered and twirly. I made a matching scrunchie and bought a $3 shirred t-shirt at Target to go with it and I think she'll be cute on the 4th!

I am just finishing up a Disney princess skirt for her and she told me would really like a princess nightgown so I bought some cute fleecy fabric for that. It really is a lot of fun!

Do you paint? You could always paint a JoJo face on a tee.

Love this skirt very cute. For a shirt I would contact a seller on ebay and have them applique a shirt. Send the seller some of your fabric so you have a good match.

Hope you find something that works! JoJo is cute, my little neice is turning 2 and she loves JoJo. I had a hard time finding a JoJo toy for her.

That is exactly how I feel too! The first time my mom tried to teach me to sew everything had to be perfect, and I'm just not.

A little OT, but when I got married, I made my own wedding dress. After we (me and Mom) bought the fabric, a gorgeous double sided satin, my Mom said, "You know, Teresa, you can NOT make any mistakes on this dress, becasue you won't be able to take them out." I thought to myself, "watch me!" Well, I made some mistakes, and I took them out and redid them, and the dress still turned out beautifully! Mom was so stressed about my wedding, I don't know what she would have done if I had replied, "Done is better than perfect!" but, it is so true!!!

And now, I'm going to use this as an excuse to post my wedding pictures! :lmao: The answer to both of your questions (the ones no one asked yet) is 19(years).

And, just to tie it all in with Disney, there are little hidden Mickey's all over my veil made out of pearls.

I can't applique either, so I cut out a shape in the fabric, ironed it on and used fabric paint around the edges. I got the idea from someone on here. The first one I tried was a star and now I am working on a monogram for my daughter. How about cutting out "Jojo" and trying that on a bright t-shirt?

That dress is beautiful! I can't believe you thought to do hidden Mickeys on the veil! Wow, I can't get over what a good job you did and you can't see any mistakes at all, just like you said.

I have to confess, I didn't notice the Hidden Mickey's until after I got it!

Beautiful, beautiful job!!! I love the fabric combinations.

I got my first sewing machine!!!!:cool1: :cool1: Thanks to you ladies I am learning to sew. The sewing machine has been shipped an is headed my way. Now I need help. Think "idiot's guide to sewing" here. What accessories do I need? :confused3 I have:

scrap fabric for practice
good fabric for projects
scissors
thread (need more of matching colors, any brand recommendations?)
seam ripper
patterns
ribbon
soft measuring thing to get measurements

What else do I need? What kind of ruler, measuring thing do I need?
I looked at the rotary cutters but I wondered if I would slice the table up with it. Plus I'll have a toddler running around and didn't think that was safe.
Do I need pins and such?
Help ladies! I have no clue!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I have one suggestion on the thread. Do NOT buy cheap thread! It doesn't have to be the real expensive stuff, but the 2/$1 kind at Walmart will only give you headaches, and mess up your machine. I usually use Coats and Clark thread, because I'm just too cheap to buy the REALLY expensive kind! (Gutteman or something like that). Although, I did buy the expensive stuff for my wedding dress. I also usually just buy white and black colored thread. You'd be amazed at how many things look just fine with just those two colors! I like to stock up when the stores have it on sale. I hate running out of thread!

You allready have an iron and ironing board, right?

You might want to try Freecycle for patterns and scrap material. I've gotten a lot that way. I've picked up quite a bit at garage sales too.

Yes, you will need pins. I like the kind with the big colored ball on the end. They are easier to handle, and if you drop them, they are MUCH easier to find!

ETA: I love my rotary cutter, and have never had a problem with it with my kids around. I don't let them get in front of it while I'm cutting, and I keep it out of their reach when I'm not using it.

You have to have a mat to use a rotary cutter, if you don't want to cut whatever is under it. They sell them next to the cutters. It also makes cutting easier, and your blade won't get dull as quickly.
