OK so I attemted to make something. It isnt very good and it isn't done yet. The glue still has to dry as does the fabric paint. I can't sew so I had to use glue. Please be honest in what you think, I don't want to put my dd's in something that is awful!

I love the nemo fabric, the outfit will look cute together - can't wait to see it finished!

Finally Finally Finally- I have officially finished my pimped out WalMart dress- I really want Laila to model it for full effect you know- so I will have to do that tomorrow, and post my pics.

Wanted to share a little tip- and I know it dosnt come in all the cute designs etc- but FELT is great for the Mickey heads etc- because the edges dont really need all the extra finishing. I used HeatnBond and some sort of fabric glue on the whole darn thing- and I think it looks OK, not perfect but good enough!

I did a tulle skirt for underneath but didnt attach it to the dress so that I can use it under other skirts as well...I don't like dealing with the tulle :sad2:

Great idea for using the felt! I am going to pick some of that up, too! I also like your idea about not attaching the tulle to your skirts Did you attach the tulle to anything? Like a bottom piece? Is there a waistband? I don't sew like the ladies on this board, so I would welcome any little hints to make the process of custom outsfits easier!!

NOW A QUESTION FOR ANYONE, PLEASE !!!!

How do you plan your outfits in accordance to the weather? We will be there for Christmas and I know the weather can have quite a range.

I'm afraid I will make a skirt for AK day and it will be 50 degrees or capris for MK day and it will be 80 !?!?!?

What to do?!?!?

It's worth a whirl! I just tried sewing for the first time last week, and away I go..... It's been fun. Frustrating though when I don't understand the terminology in the patterns. I just do my own thing. It's just for my daughter, so who cares when it's not perfect!:rolleyes1

That is exactly how I feel too! The first time my mom tried to teach me to sew everything had to be perfect, and I'm just not. I got frustrated and that's why I gave up. These easy little skirts are fun and if it's not perfect it doesn't matter because my daughter loves it. I'm working on a princess skirt right now: I'll post pictures when I'm done. She just told me she would like a princess nightgown!

I would probably focus on tees rather than tanks and skirts or skorts rather than shorts. You can layer a long-sleeved tee under a short-sleeved tee. You can add tights or leggings under a skirt. In fact, that's in style and it looks really cute! You could also do longer gauchos and capri pants which would leave little of the legs exposed if worn with socks and shoes, but which could be worn with sandals if it's warmer.

Can you tell me exactly which "easy little skirt" you are making? I was looking at the directions for, I think it was a strip/e(?) skirt...confusing directions, don't know where to start. I need to start with something easy to build my confidence.

Thanks!

We went in early December and never wore shorts. Even the days it is warmer, the night is definitely NOT. I would plan pants/capris and long sleeves. We layered a lot with sweatshirts.

Another Ohioan here. ;)

But I was really logging on to say ~+~+HaPpY AdOpTiOn DaY+~+~ to *KeepMovingForward* and her family. Congratulations!

Here's my interpretation of a JoJo's Circus skirt. I am completely at a loss as to what I'm going to do for a shirt. I've never done applique. TDS doesn't have any JoJo tees. The few that are on ebay aren't the correct color. Any ideas?

I'm wondering the same thing as I can't even work a sewing machine :guilty: . I can only sew buttons back on. My mom can sew pretty good with her sewing machine but she is not patient at all.
