Hi guys! I'm a cast member at AK, I'm on the education team, and alot of what I do is working at our Kid's Discovery Clubs, where the kids can learn about Wildlife and Conservation, and things they can do to help out. I highly reccomend it to you all as the kids learn alot and have lots of fun at the same time, collecting stamps for learning about animals. And I am just wondering if any of you have any thoughts on them, if your kids have already done them? I love working at them and seeing the children become so excited to learn, I was just wondering what you guys thought. Thanks for the input!

Hi, Dan. It's really great to see you here. I don't have any children any more but I'll bet there are a lot of parents here who might have some input for you.

Hi Dan,

I will be down at the AK in November of this year and I will be bringing my 3 1/2 year old son. He LOVES animals (Stanley is one of his favorite shows on the Disney channel). Anyway, I was very sad when I read that children must be 4 year old to attend the Club. Is there anything for younger kids? He is completely potty trained (since he was 2 years and 2 months I might add :) )

Thanks for any info.

also a CM but with TDS

I must have missed the information on the club. However, now that I am aware of it, I'm going to do some research on it. It sounds like something my children would love. Thank you for posting what you do on these boards. Sometimes there is so much going on at Disney, that you miss out on some things.

dmc613-What kinds of activities does the AKL offer for the children in the clubs? My daughter will be 5 when we come in November. Thanks.

Dan, could you share more about these clubs?

I guess I'm mostly wondering if this is at AK or AKL. If it's at AK, where do we find you as we'll be there in about 3 weeks.
My grand daughter loves to learn so this will be something we search out for her to do!

Thanks for any extra info you can offer up. :D

although we didn't get to every station, the ones we did do were lots of fun for the kids. Good hands-on activities and you get a stamp in a booklet, sort of like Kidcot over at Epcot, only more educational. We did one where the kids stick their hands inside a tree trunk to find out what sort of habitats animals might live in (I think) and one where they had to look for animals in a backyard environment. If i'm not mistaken there is one station per area of AK - like Africa, Asia, etc?

I should add that it wasn't AKL, it was AK - so I didn't know they were called "clubs", i would have called them "stations" or whatever.

My daughters (especially the 7 year old) enjoyed it and wanted to get all of the stamps. We only got 3 but they still had fun.

One problem. At about 3:45 we went to the one behind "It's tough to be a Bug" and she had already packed up everything. This seemed a little early to me since the park didn't close until 5. As we were leaving 3 other groups were coming in so they would have been dissapointed too.

I didn't earn any respect from the CM when she asked my daughter what she does if she sees a spider in the house. She said that she gets her Dad. The CM asked me what I do then and when I explained that I stepped on it she reacted like I said I slap my Momma. Oh well I've never been accused of being a tree hugger.
