You also cannot split at family style all you can eat restaurants (like 'Ohana or Garden Grill), fixed price restaurants (CRT or Akershus), dinner shows (Hoop De Doo, Spirit of Aloha or Mickey's Backyard Barbecue) or if you select all you can eat options like the platter at Whispering Canyon.

In addition, Via Napoli does not allow guests on the dining plan to share credits. They require that each dining plan guest use a credit.

Credits are lumped, but the system knows how many adults and children are on the plan. So if your account is listed as 2 adults and two kids, you cannot order 3 adult meals. Yes, they allow you to upgrade during FD. The total price difference is only $21 with FD. You are only paying for the upgrade on the ticket. They won't question it. Just tell them that you would like your child to be shown as an adult so they can order off of the adult menu. He can order off the adult or kids menu if he wants I have a grandson that is going with us this year and he is only 6 but he eats like an adult so I will be asking him to be shown as an adult. His 10 year old brother is totally opposite and will probably rather eat off the kids menu but I am not taking the chance. $21 is definitely worth it

If it's really that little to upgrade, I might do it for my 5-year-old DD for our Sept trip (assuming we're able to get Free Dining). Our whole family is vegetarian and some of the kids menus, especially at QS, have no veg options or the only choice is an Uncrustable. I am always embarrassed for the family, especially for what they are teaching their kids. My conscience would never let me be dishonest like that. The extra $21 is soooo worth it. You can give them her correct age, just simply ask the CM to show her as an Disney adult on the reservation so they can order from the adult menu. They won't mind taking your money. I didn't know that I could do it either until a CM recommended it

The difference in price from child to adult is $40 per day - the $21 PP mentioned is only under the free dining plan.

IF we never ordered more than 2 adult CS meals at any given time, could all the CS credits by used for adult meals? If there is a children's menu offered, you must use your children's credits to order from it. Disney states this clearly.

yes I get that, and if I go up to a counter and always order adult meals, am I going to run out of adult entitlements and have only children's entitlements left by the end of the trip? What if we only visit establishments that don't offer children's meals?

They are not separated adult and child entitlement. However, Disney has the rule that if you are ordering for a child and there is a children's menu, they need to order from it No using all of your credits as if they were adult credits. Now if there isn't a children's menu offered, then you can order your children whatever they want.

You seem to be on the verge of asking how to get around Disney's policy on credit use. And that is a big no-no on the Dis.

I spoke to a cast member today about adding Disney Dining (specifically, the free dining plan), and she complimented me on how much I already knew. Anything I know? You guys. I can't overstate how HELPFUL everyone has been here.

Now that I've made the leap and booked the resort -- assuming I can call and get the free dining added -- I have a question:

-- My family of three is on the dining plan.
-- Our son, age 10 as of the trip, is counted as "adult."
-- Let's say my husband and I use table-service credits for a meal.
-- Can we buy our son a meal using cash?
-- In other words, if one of us is using a credit, must we ALL use a credit?

You can pay out of pocket for whatever you want. Many people, if they have a child with a small appetite, pay out of pocket for them and use their credit later on.

Thank you so much! I would never have thought of this. We just made our four year old an adult for our trip and paid $20 for the privilege of avoiding meltdowns over not being able to order the same thing as her 11 year old brother.

There are going to be times that my DGS6 is only going to want chicken nuggets or something else from the kids menu but if/when he finds something on the adult menu he would rather have to eat then there will be no issues at all. It is sooooo worth it

Piggy backing on the earlier question. We do not eat meat and my son does not eat peanut butter, that really limits most of our kids meal options, so under that reasoning if we ordered more adult meals at places where the kids meals don't offer anything, that's okay?
