Kids CS Credits & Menus FAQ & Q&A

I am so confused by the whole there is no difference between CS adult and child credits.

This hung us up several times. I expected CS credits to be separate for adult and child, and I was surprised when they were not.

I orderd off the kids' menu, though, because that's what my kid wanted. But then it didn't come with a dessert. I re-read the dining plan and it clearly said counter service comes with entree, drink and dessert. But counter service folks repeatedly denied that my kid got a dessert with their kids meal. And the kids meal didn't come with it's own dessert (unless you call grapes a dessert). So it was all baffling to me. Especially since when I got my tally it would tell me how many adult TS and child TS I had left, but snacks and counter service were grouped together in one lump sum.... so really....how are they enforcing that and how am I supposed to keep track of it??? I don't want to carry a calculator and paper and pencil on vacation. Just give me my food!

In the end it was tons of food and we had credits left over so it's not like I felt cheated. It's just hard to reconcile sometimes.

My DD will be 4 when there and whilst she loves our homemade macaroni cheese I just know she isn't going to like the false cheese american one.

She also does not eat red meat or pork (anything other than chicken & fish) or chicken nuggets that are not fresh and made with chicken breast.

She eats chicken, salmon, prawns etc, pasta, all vegetables, potatoes, noodles & rice, she loves her cheesey sauces with pasta or garlic butter and cream, she likes a lot of stuff curries etc too but we don't do junk (nuggets & pizza) often.

I don't mind her having pizza a few times for lunch with salad whilst there but the kids meals are soo limited i think they're awful.

The complete meals look better (still not varied enough though) but if she has that then she doesn't get to choose a treat dessert just a yoghurt or fruit or something - how are they at letting you swap things around for the kids choice..ie complete meal for starter and main but dessert from the other kids menu?

I don't want to upgrade her to the adult plan (we're on DXDP) as it will be such a waste of food.

We are eating at a lot of buffets & teppen edo (where I believe the kids get the same as adults) so they will be fine but we are also eating at CRT dinner/Prime Time lunch/Coral Reef lunch/Akershers dinner and BOG dinner.

We have a family of 4 (2 kids)-first time on the QSDP. Usually, my wife grabs a table at a CS restaurant and waits with the kids while I get the food.

If I get in line, can I order all four DDP meals from my card or would the cast member ask where the others in my party are? Would I need to show the other room keys?
Thanks

They do not need to be in line with you and you do not need to show their cards. One card and one person for the entire family is sufficient. This is how we typically did it too as waiting in line with the kids is too chaotic.

The only place we have ever had a problem ordering my DS (9) something for a QS credit other than what was on the kids menu was at Blizzard Beach this past trip in July. My son is 9 but he is a BIG 9 (he is over 5 feet tall) so sometimes the QS kids meals just don't cut it.

The cashier said that if we were ordering all at once and had three adults and one child on the card, that one of the meals we were ordering had to come off the kids menu.

From then on DH decided that anytime we are ordering at QS, we order separately. (ie I do 2 and he does 2)

Ok idk what happened but my whole post did not post above... I have seen somewhere sometime that at some places you could use a snack credit for a kids meal, is this true? If so where at? Thanks

A snack credit for a whole meal? No.

A snack credit can often times get something rather large, so perhaps they used a snack credit and got a pretzel and treated it as a meal. But you won't be able to walk into a QS restaurant and use a snack credit for a child meal (drink/entree/dessert).

I can't remember where it was (I'll see if I can find it again) but there is at least one place where you CAN use a snack credit to get just a pb&j uncrustable

Hi! We have a QSDP for our trip in November. We are mostly planning on using all the snack credits for our DD as she is a VERY picky eater and prefers to have things like carrot sticks or fruit in a little bowl and just pick away at it in her own time, using the meals for ourselves and sharing our meals with her and only using the child meal credits if she asks for something at the time (which is a very rare occurance). After looking through this thread I though I was getting a general idea of things but on going further it has left me utterly confused about QSDP! People are saying the meals are pooled but others are saying you need to order off a kids menu which makes no sense as if the meals are pooled then how do they know whats been used between child and adult meals?? Maybe I am completely missing the point and its nothing related to ordering from a kids menu, thats all good for us, my question is that with the QSDP allowing 2 meals and a snack per day and in our situation where my DD will probably use at very most about 10% of her total allowance of meals, could my DH and I use a couple of her credits she has not used at a restaurant that does not offer a kids menu? Usually when I go I buy a box of cereal for us to have a bowl in the room before we head out for the day but if we were able to use a couple of her credits I would love to try breakfast at Disney World one morning during our stay! Or is this just me being really cheeky? :worried:

After further looking through this thread I found the answer! Sorry to repost something similar to what others have asked and that has been answered!

I have deleted several posts regarding the use of children's credits (those for which a child's price was paid) to purchase CS meals from the regular menu. (or TS meals on the deluxe plan)

Disney quite clearly says in the DDP brochure that they are to be used for the children's menu, except at CS that do not have a children's menu.

It's the policy of this board that using them otherwise isn't to be discussed.

A PBJ Uncrustable isn't a meal... a meal includes at least a beverage and possibly a dessert, so there may be places that will allow one single Uncrustable on a snack credit.

For my kid it is :confused3 I was just putting the info out here because for a lot of little ones it would be all they'd eat and you don't have to waste a meal credit

We are a party of 4 adults and 2 children (only 1 gets the ddp though).

My question is how do I keep track of how many adult and Childrens quick service meals we have had as we will not always be eating together?

Will disney be able to distinguish what we have had and have got left in regards to adult and Chikdrens qs credits.

It would make it easier if they did and I could just check with the front desk of the resort or something.

Just getting myself a bit worried about how we will keep track and don't want to end up using more adults credits than we are supposed to as I know that Disney does not allow this.

Thanks and hopefully someone can advise me.

Some people use punch cards or they just keep track in their head. But it won't deny you a meal credit if you use more adult than child ones on accident. They are all lumped together , you just have say 9 QS credits. If you got 9 adult meals nothing would happen to you. Lol

But it's rather easy to track kiddie meals esp for just 1 child, mark a paper or something that someone carries every day.

That's great thanks.

For us, it's just with using some adult credits, some child credits, paying oop for some kids meals and at some places oop for adult meals too, it's all getting quite confusing.

I'll just have to try and track them as best as possible. But good to know we won't get in trouble if I get it wrong by a meal. Thanks.:thumbsup2

for the qsdp, if my son wants to get two sides of fries for his 2 sides, instead of 1 side of fries, and a cookie..is that possible?

No he gets 2 sides only. A cookie is one of the sides. There is no dessert for kids. It's an entree and 2 sides with some sides being treats. But yeah he can get 2 sides of fries or 2 cookies or 1 fry and 1 cookie.

You can likely buy an adult side of fries if you want more sides

Can my dd share my dinner entree with me if there isn't anything she likes on the kids menu? We are going to pay oop for additional meals so we will use her child TS credit at those meals. Is that okay?

If you're talking about TS, she can share with you unless it's a 1) buffet, 2) all you can eat family style restaurant, 3) fixed price restaurant like CRT or Akershus, 4) dinner show, or 5) Via Napoli. And yes, you can use her child credit at other meals.
