I'm not sure you should plan to pay OOP for lots of CS meals. I would recommend you plan your CS meals so that your kids can get things they will like. We found the adult meals to have plenty of food so we shared the adult meals between 2 or 3 of us.
I think using CS for breakfast is very smart:
- Order the breakfast platter: eggs, meats, potatoes and bread(s), there is plenty to share and you can get 2 drinks, we chose water and either a juice or milk, we took the water to the park, thus SAVING a snack credit
For lunch I think there are several options:
- on the Dining Plan info Sticky at the top of this page there is a list of CS restaurants that don't have a kids menu, thus your kids order what you'd order, know those places and use them (pizza, fish, hotdogs to name a few)
- Get an adult meal to share and add a side item w/a snack credit
- Be sure to use combo meals, I ordered a pizza, CM informed me that I could get a combo meal which meant side salad, the salad was enough for me and nephew was delighted with the pizza, we still got a drink and dessert item
We actually had CS credits left at the end of our stay, we used them just as we were leaving, but those were harder to use because we always shared CS meals and we had a TS meal daily
As for your original question, can you get cereal and milk as a CS breakfast on the kids menu, we did not try it so I can't answer based on our experience. I will say we used a couple of snack credits for Entenmann's donuts and cinnamon buns for the room so we had something to grab on days when we did not stop at the food court for breakfast. Also you can get yogurt as a dessert item, so we did that and saved it for breakfast or a late night snack. I think the CS portion of the plan offers the most flexibility.
Our 5yo was excited to see the Uncrustables (who knew

), ate mac and cheese and pizza and was pretty happy. He also does well with breakfast so that worked as well.
I would be very stingy spending money OOP with the plan, I'd start my kids on the kinds menus, use those "adult" CS places and then and only then would I come OOP. We never did and we had a vegetarian kid on the plan!
Have a magical trip!
