I have searched the boards, but can't find a definitive answer....we are at SSR now, will be moving to BWV tomorrow (DVC members paying for the plan). Are on the dining plan (5 adults, 1 child).

My question: so far, in most counter service places, when my DD9 gets the "pre-plated" option she has received the main dish, a choice of grapes, carrot sticks or applesauce, and her drink. The CMs claim that this is what the dessert is...the applesauce or grapes. Then, when we were at the Lands, the counter service there claimed that she was supposed to choose a dessert, too, and that we had been "ripped off" (their words, not mine) all week.

Now, she doesn't NEED dessert, and with the 5 adults (3 teens and her parents) there has been PLENTY of food to share. She, generally, has been perfectly happy (although as the mom who usually ends of sharingwith her, I wish she would branch out from all things chocolate!)......I was just wondering if anyone knows the "real" answer.....more out of curiosity than a true desire to demand more calories!!!!

When we were there, about half way through our trip we realized that on our receipts at table service meals the kids meal was always seperate and labeled as a childs table service, but with the CS meals they were not. I started thinking, how would they know if we ordered her a regular, not kids meal? Well, we wanted to follow the rules and there was definately enough food to go around, but on our last day there, we were at MGM and the choices for the kids meal were not that great and my DD7 was sick of the same old food, so I ordered for her and guess what, no questions asked! So I know I didn't answer your question, and honestly, I couldn't remember so I asked my DD7 and she said that the grapes and jello was her dessert, take that for what it is worth from a 7 year old. My question is, how do they know if the child is not the one ordering??? I don't think they do.

I am trying my best to remember how that worked. DS is an "adult" now but he was a child on 2 trips with DDP. The thing is we used most of our CS credits for breakfast. I know at CS in Norway they said he didn't get dessert, which irked me. I am having a horrible time thinking of another instance where we ordered a kids CS meal that wasn't breakfast. I think he got dessert at Casey's, but we thought those brownies were so gross that we threw them out. Sorry I am not more help! Unfortunately I think it is a gray area that will depend on the CM who rings you up.

You get no dessert with breakfast CS.

We faced a similar problem when we were there last week - some CS claimed that the grapes were a dessert but others offered a child's dessert in addition to the Mickey tray. We avoided the issue a couple of times by eating at CS that had no kid's menu (Pizza Planet, etc) so they got full-sized meals and desserts. We ended up carrying dessert with us because there was so much.

With regard to kids' CS vs Adult CS, they are still lumped together.

:goodvibes Okay, so this is where I get confused (but that's not so hard to do!). Typically, at a CS place, one of us gets the table with the girls and the other gets the food. Will the card show an initial balance of 24 CS credits (6 days, 4 ppl) or will the card show an initial balance of 12 Adult Cs and 12 child CS credits?

I mean, if DH ordered 4 adult combo meals at PH in MK on our first CS meal, surely it would show a balance of 8 Ad CD and 12 Ch CS??

Like I said, confused...

No, it will show the total amount of CS meals, it does not break them down to Adult and Childrens's.

BUT the card will also say who is on the plan, ours will read 3A/1C. They are not supposed to ring up more than 3 Adult CS meals at one time.

Even though it says 4 CS meals the CM can tell that there are 2A/2C. The CM is not supposed to let you order more than 2 adult CS meals at a time. It really depends on the CM and how strict they are.

Of course there will always be those people who bend the rules by having Dad wait in one line and mom in another, each ordering 2 Adult meals.
