I was wondering if anyone knows of a printable countdown calendar for kids? When we tell our daughter about our trip, I thought it could be fun for her to mark off each day before bed. I could make one easily, but I was hoping that maybe there were some Disney themed ones somewhere.

TIA! :sunny:

I don't have a calendar, but I made a paper chain with a link for each day until WDW. It is multi-colored and I decorated it with Disney stickers.

As an added bonus, since we have about 40 days left, I taped Princess stickers inside the links about every other day, so when my DD4 tears off a link right before bed, sometimes she gets a little prize.

She loves to do it every night and she can get a grip of how much longer we have until WDW!!

My paper chain started with about 53 days (DD's 4th bday until day we leave).

We always do a paper chain that the kids make by decorating by drawing pics and stickers. This year we made a chain with our favorites of WDW. So when they tear one off we talk about why it was a fav. There is a site mouseforless that is mention in the printables thread at top of this bb. that has a calendar, and different trip activities.

I don't know how old your dd is, but I found that the paper chain worked really well for our 3 ds. A calendar was harder for them to see the days until our trip greater less and less. With the chain, they could see the chain shrinking each day and was a great visual reminder that, yes we were eventually actually going to leave on our trip.

I had a friend of mine draw a big Sorcerer Mickey with his finger pointing in the air, then I made stars and numbered them from 1 to 30. Each day we take down the star Mickey is pointing to and move the correct number for that day into its place.(now 17) My grandson loves it. DD had workmen at her house yesterday and he told them when all the stars are gone his mother is taking him to Disney. The workers thought that was a way of telling the poor kid he is never gonna go. lol DD had to explain!

We just got back :thumbsup2
I used poster board and drew off 23 squares (We went on July 23rd, so I started our calendar on July1) I let the kids pick about 4 or 5 different clipart pictures of their favorite characters-I then printed them off and cut them out==they glued the characters in the calendar squares. I then took a picture of each child and printed it out and used the laminations sheets from wal-mart and laminated their pictures I put tape on the back of their pictures and everyday them moved their picture to the next day--the last day said Disney here we come--they loved this and could read it-even my 6 year old would say mom 8 more days until we go to disney!

Just subscribing. What wonderful ideas! I have been trying to think of something like this for my DD5 and DS2 as we are leaving at the end of August. I thought August 1 would be a good time to start something like this. Thanks again for the ideas!

Thanks for all the great ideas everyone! Now, I just have to pick on and work it out! :thumbsup2

Last trip I made our own countdown calendar. I used a large piece of art paper and made each week starting with the high numbers down to 1. At the end of every week I made a box with some activity to do to get ready for the trip. (1/2way there go out to dinner to celebrate, pack kids clothes, send box to resrt etc.) We used Disney stickers to mark off the time. It was really great and I swear DH liked it more than the kids! princess:

We also do a paper chain, but what we did is split them between us and on each one we wrote a "Disney Word or saying" with markers. Some of the things we wrote were: Expediton Everest, Sci-fi dine in, magical, Buzz, Le Cellier, MNSSHP, dole whips, etc. just things that remind us of Disney. We take turns each day cutting off a linc and reading what is on it, we really enjoy it, even my grumpy DH. :thumbsup2

We've done "catterpillars" instead of paper chains (for trips, Christmas, etc.) because you can see and write on the interim days, especially if there are other minor events to look forward to in the meantime. Here is our Disney one from earlier this year (our regular design, but wearing a Mickey-ears hat, of course) -

We started ages in advance, so took off one of the 7-bump strips every Saturday and counted weeks. When we got down to 3 weeks, we took off the single circles every day and counted days. DS had a blast, and showed everybody who came over.

Everyone, I love the other great ideas and will be branching out to try some!

OP, if you are still looking for a pribtable cross-off calendar, this site is great, and does have Disney ones -

That is adorable

Hi
I've made Disney calendars for my DGD and then printed out little faces of all the characters, Mickey, Goofy, Pooh and more. She cut them out and then she used a glue stick to paste them onto the calendar. I went into DisneyOnline.com and your can search around until you come to calendars. You can choose a character design for each page of your calendar and you can either print it in color or black and white. We did black and white, since my DGD wanted to color it in. She's 3 1/2 and it kept her busy for a long time and she had a lot of fun doing it. I hope this helps. I'll go back online to see if I can find exactly what I clicked onto and report back, so you don't have to do a lot of searching. Have fun!!! :)

I printed off calendar pages from the Disney site, then paper-punched small Mickey head shapes from black paper and ran them through my xyron to make them into stickers. We'll put a Mickey sticker on each day until the day we leave! (You could also buy tiny Disney stickers, as long as they're small enough to fit in each calendar-day square.)

Here's a link to the Disney calendar page to make your own pages:

I was planning on getting some posterboard and then using a variety of the Mickey head paint chips for each day to count off.

Last fall we made a countdown calender from a generic calender pasted on posterboard. My girls had almost as much fun making it as they did crossing off the days! I had Disney stickers, glitter, etc. for them to use and just kind of let them do their thing. It turned out so great that they wanted to keep it after the vacation got here. We kept it with our trip goodies as a reminder of how much (at least for us) the anticipation is part of the fun! princess:

We went out and bought a simple disney Calendar for 2006 and I bought bright colored stickers, with smilies, hearts and stars and to my surprise it also had letters in it, so the last 15 days before we leave going to spell out WALT DISNEY WORLD! My 4 DS's just love it and take turns putting stickers on each day!

good luck and have fun on your trip
