Does the kids club ever fill up to where they won't take in anymore kids. And any recommendations with the kids club? My kids are so looking forward to the kids club and not having to be with mom and dad all of the time!

Thanks!

Karen

When the number of kids who have reservations reaches the capacity for their ages in the clubs, they stop taking reservations for those ages. So if you're on the ship, they have a spot in the clubs.

So, I'm not really sure how the kids club works, do we need to make reservations for when we want the kids in the kids club as soon as we get on the ship? And if we go on a shore excursion that they wouldn't like can they be left in the kids club?

Thanks!

KAren

When you arrive onboard, you have time before the lifeboat drill to go and register your children as well as before dinner, or later that evening. We registered our son aroun 2:30 on arrival day in Oceaneers Club and our other son checked in at Common Grounds for teens. You fill out a registration form for your child, and he or she is given a ID band to wear all cruise, and you are given a pager. You can check them in or out of the clubs as long as they are open. No reservation to take them there is needed. They can also eat lunch or dinner with their clubs if they want to.
You will be given a Navigator for their age group for each day telling you of the times and activities going on for them. Most days the clubs are open at 9 and run till 1 am. Except on CC then they have stuff planned while on the island.
The club never filled up while we were on the May 27 Wonder, and we had over 800 children and the cruise was sold out.
I will be happy to answer any other questions I can for you. I had a 7 yr old in Oceaneers Club and except for dinner, we hardly saw him. He loved it there.
We also went into Nassau and he stayed in the club on the ship.

Thank you! I wasn't sure how it worked. It sounds like your 7 year old loved it. What kind of activities did they have for them? Did the activities take them around the ship or did they just stay in that one area? Did your son do the activities on CC or eat any meals at the club? Were you comfortable leaving him there? Supervision I'm sure was great knowing Disney?

Thanks for any info!

Hi Karen,

You are in Charlotte, I am on the other side of the state in Goldsboro!!

How old is your child and when are you going?

My son loved it on the cruise, we only did a 3 night to see how he would like it. He skipped all the shows and went to the club after dinner, and went for a hour on CC to play, the rst of the day he spent with us until they opened that afternoon back on the ship. He brought home Flubber and did tons of activities. He ate lunch with them on Nassau day and they ate at AP. They also have kids themed menus in all the dining rooms, with crayons and activities.

This link will give you a good idea of what is going on for all the age levels.

Let me know if you have any other questions. They were wonderful with him, and I never had a problem leaving him. Security was great, you need your KTTW to check them in and a password to get them out. You can also peek in on them at any time, like I did just to see how he was.

I was on the 5/8 magic and the kids club was great. It depends on the day. Once you get onboard there are navigators that tell you what is going on in the clubs for that day. I have three girls and they loved the club. Sometimes they would take them to the Lab and this area has computers and there is also a place in the back where they watch movies. Hope this helps. The cast members are also very helpful. If you don't have a navigator you can ask when you drop off what is on the agenda for the day.

Thank you all for your positive comments about the Club. I work in the Club on the Magic and feel like I'm always having to defend it or correct false information on the boards. I love my job and the program/service that we provide. I know it's not for everyone, but t's nice to know that there ARE people out there who love the Club as much as I do.

Beth, You aren't very far away from us. We are in New Bern. Have you scheduled another cruise yet

Robyn, after reading your post I pulled out our Navigator from our last cruise do remember you. Everyone was wonderful with him and he can't wait to go back, though he will be with the 5-7 group this time. DD is excited to go to Mickey's Club next time too. I don't know how you guys manage it. Being in that club with all those kids would honestly drive me nuts...the two of mine do that easily enough. Will you be on the ship in December?

Wow Lisa, you are right down the highway!!! We are stationed at Seymour Johnson AFB. Haven't booked another one yet, but have checked into different dates and looked up prices. Trying to talk Dh into another 3 night in Jan/Feb, then a 4 night in the summer. But of course deployment looms over us again.

Robyn, a HUGE thanks to all CM's who work in the kids clubs. You all made it a very special trip for my DS who loved it there. He actually got mad at us because we picked him up at midnight and he had a hour left in the club.

Nope, register when you want and you can go at anytime (except transition times) and drop them off. Check out the different activities, your child may like some more than others. Making Flubber, being Pirates, Goofy's Giggle Gala, etc.

Yes, you can go on your excursions, but make sure to make them aware you can not return right away if they want/need you. We went ashore in St. Thomas to shop after spending the morning on the Atlantis Submarine and our DS6 wanted to stay. He was aware that we could not be right back (we were also tendered) and he was fine. Two hours later I don't even think he knew we were gone. He loved it.

The Club staff does an AMAZING job. I don't think they get enough credit for making DCL special.

On our cruise a gentleman registered his son & told the CM to keep the pager because he was not coming to get him even if paged!! The CM told him he had to take it, he eventually did but what a A** he made of himself. I would have told him to take his son & not to come back. I cant imagine what you deal with on a daily basis!!!

Again great job!!!!!

Robyn,
I wish you would get the credit you deserve. My girls are 7,6 and 3. We asked my 7 year old what she liked most about the cruise and she said the club and the Mickey Pool. You and the other counselors sure make it fun for the kids. No wonder they don't want to leave. Thanks again.

Hopefully I will be on the magic in 06.

Just got back from the Magic and my 8 year old also loved the club, but my 5 year old didn't like it much. I had one complaint though. They promised they would page me when my son checked out and they didn't do this twice. One time the girl told me that she was too busy checking kids in to stop and page me. I found that unacceptable, she should have made the kids wait to checkin. Luckily, we found our son in the room watching tv. The second time we happened to be in the room when he came back and again he told me that they were supposed to page me and they didn't.

Easy solution, don't allow your son to check himself out.

I wasn't looking for a solution, I was just letting others know that I didn't feel the club was very secure...they give you pagers for a reason and the kids can't leave without telling them.

Wow I didn't even know you could let a child of 8 sign themselves out! Its an option right? Because no way would I want my 8 year old child being able to sign herself out!

Hey folks, there are different policies for the CLUB which is for 4-7 year olds and the LAB which is for 8-12 year olds although lots of people refer to them both as the kids clubs.

Kids in the Oceaneer's CLUB are not allowed to check themselves out. Parents with kids in the Oceaneer's LAB have the OPTION to allow their kids to check themselves in and out.

FYI, if you're not paged when you should be or there's something else that you're concerned about, be sure to let the Club or Lab manager know about it. Disney is always trying to improve the service and they can't if you don't make them aware when something isn't what you expected. The CMs really do try their best to ensure that everyone has a Magical or Wonderful experience.
