I've read that Disney still offers the kids club while in port and some actually leave their kids there while they do a port adventure. Curios as to what happens to the kids if you miss the ship. Do they get put off with your passports?

The only case I've read about, they assigned CMs onboard to be responsible for the kids, and they were met at debarkation by relatives. They'd not put kids ashore without responsible adults.

The get put to work shoveling coal in the boiler room. What? Yes, I know it is a diesel ship, I'm just giving an answer that will assure people come back in plenty of time. pirate:

(Seriously though, PrincessShmoo has the right answer. They aren't going to leave minors in a foreign country.)

Just to add, until recently, I was a kids club CM for three years. Every port day there would be children left in the club while their grown ups got off and did their own thing, and never once did I experience kids getting left behind...

We're leaving our two (DD1 & DS2) in the nursery while we go on some snorkeling excursions. We normally book outside vendors but felt since the kids will be in DCL's care back on the ship, we wanted to be on DCL sponsored excursions. We also only booked half day excursions. You would think that any parent that decides to leave the kids behind would be extra careful to make it back in time. You would think. Then again, crazy things can happen...

This is why it is important to havethe ships steward/customs agent information available. It is included on the personal navigator for port days. Always take a picture of it!

We have left our dd5 in the kids club when we were doing a 1/2 day snorkeling excursion (it was thru DCL though). We are planning on leaving her again just for the one longest port days in Rome but again, we would only use DCL excursions if we left her on board. Too much of a risk not to. When she is with us on the other 3 port days we will book private or DIY.
