DH and I would like to spend a dinner on our own during our Sept trip. Our kids will have just turned 8 (DD) and 5 (DS). We will be staying at Beach Club Villas. I've read wonderful things about the Neverland Club, but since we're at BCV, am wondering if the Sandcastle Club is just as "entertaining"? What type of activities do the kids do? Are they broken up by age? What is the hourly rate? The kids spent a ton of time in the kids club on our recent Disney Cruise, so I'm wondering if the on-site clubs are similar if anyone has this comparison as well? Thanks for your help! Jo

Jo-Anne,

My son is 8 and loves it there. That is "his night out". He has been to Neverland and thinks they are both great. He tells me that the kids are not divided up, instead they choose the activities in which they'd like to participate. There are videos, toys, arcade games, computer games as well as arts and crafts types of activities. Dinner includes a choice or chicken nuggets, hamburgers, mac and cheese (maybe other choices too  ) They give you a beeper in case they need you. I think the price is now about $10 an hour.
Compared to the cruise, they are less organized. They don't do the structured activities that the cruise groups do, probably because of the mix of ages. While Sandcastle Club may not be as much fun as the Oceaneer's Club, they should still have a great time that night.

Thanks for the info PixieChick - wondering if you know if the rate is $10/hour/child, or if they have a family rate - $20/hour for two kids seems steep, but might be the price we'd pay for a couple hours of alone time! ;)

Sorry, I think you're out of luck with the "group rate"! :p

Plan that night as a non park day. The $$ you save on the kids not going into a park will cover the cost! Either way, the private time is definately worth it! Enjoy.:teeth:

when we went to california grill this december. it was $10/child. it costs us $70 for 2 kids/3.5hours. but it was worth it. they did a couple of coloring projects, then played. dinner is included in the package. we left before the bed/rest time.
they day we used it there were only 7 kids & 4 of those were from our group. they did say that the week before (thanksgiving week) that it was crowed the whole time. i believe there is a 25 child limit at simba's club house. it may be the same over there too.

We used Sandcastle two years ago when my kids were 6 and 9, they loved it. They were mad we picked them up early (we felt guilty enjoying the nightlife while they were "stuck" there... won't make that mistake again :teeth: ). We already have a ressie for our upcoming trip and DD age 11 is psyched to return. They both loved the free arcade style games (Ms. Pacman for one), computers and legos to play with. DD did a valentine project and both had dinner there. I think there was also gr. cheese as that is all DS used to eat. Also fresh fruit came with their meal. The price is a little steep but my kids really liked a night off their feet and just hanging out relaxing.:sunny:
