Is the Sand Castle club still open at BCV? If so, do DVC members get a discount there? I didn't see a discount mentioned anywhere but I figured it never hurts to ask?

Yes the Sandcastle club is still there - as for DVC discounts, none that I'm aware of but I could be wrong.

Hi Stimpy. Sandcastle club is great. No, I don't believe that there are discounts for members. I used it in 2002 and it was 10.00 per hour per child and if they were there at dinner time you can order them a kids dinner for a small fee. Just want to let you know that there is an age limit (saw that you have a 1 year old) I believe they take kids ages 3 - 12 and they have to be potty trained. :(

OOOOps! Sorry Stimpy. That was Scoootch with the one year old!

That's ok! I was wondering how you knew I had a young baby until I backtracked to see Scoootch's post. LOL I do have an infant who will be 8 months when we go but she'll be staying with Grammy and PopPop in the villa. I thought it would be fun for DS-almost 5 to have a night out on his own. Thanks for the responses!

Hey -- If you're looking for a night out -- Try the Camp Dolphin!

DH and I just got back from our trip and thank God and these boards for the info I obtained here before we went. I found out about a month before we left that at Swan/Dolphin, if you dine at either Shula's or Blue Zoo, you get 2 hrs of complimentary childcare! AND... if you get the child there by 7 pm, the feed them at Tubbi's as part of the deal, too!

Let me just tell you -- with 3 kids -- that was not a deal to pass up! I had looked at using Sandcastle for the kids and then dining at Yachtsman Steakhouse with DH (Yachtsman has a 10% off for DVC). By the time I paid for 3 kids, plus their dinners, for 2 hrs, well yowza$$$. Even with 10% off at YS that was going to be pricey! So I looked at dining at Shula's -- and for us, anyway, it came out better! Even though our meal at Shula's (which by the way was AWESOME) was about $115, had we gone to Sandcastle, we would have paid at least $60 for our childcare, right up front, leaving us only $55 between 2 people at YS. And we had wonderful appetizers, steaks, salads, dessert and coffee at Shula's so not like we skimped! PLus, the kids were fed and were given about 15 tokens each for the video games after dinner. Not bad!

Now granted, my math may show a bigger advantage because we have 3 kids, versus one, but it's something to consider, if nothing else, when your youngest gets older and the grandfolks aren't available!
