Kids Club Age Change

The lawsuit was back in 2021, some updated info in this article: https://www.****************/couple-sues-disney-cruise-line-for-20-million-bb1/
I doubt the change stems from this lawsuit. Sounds like Disney was going to win the case anyways.

It may be the case that they got feedback that the older kids prefer Edge, but I still think they should have given people more warning so they could make that decision for themselves. I would 100% not have booked this cruise had I known my 12yo could not go to Oceaneer Lab with my 9yo, it's a totally different cruise experience. But now I've paid in full, made travel arrangements and everything, our cruise is 21 days from now. It's very upsetting to be spending so much on a cruise that isn't at all what we thought we were paying for.

There have been multiple reports of the FBI currently investigating an incident on the Magic this past March involving a 12 year old and a 3-year old. Within some of the facebook groups there were multiple people reporting being contacted by the FBI and Disney as part of the investigation.

All of this could be hearsay of course, and a case of don't always believe what you read on the internet, but I would really hope these people aren't lying about something like this.

That article says the abuse was form a 7 year old, but the posts I saw was one dealing with a 12 yo and 3 yo. So Keeping it 3-10 wouldn't solve that issue.

So if its nothing that was something they had to do fast, they very well could have set the date much further out. There is something we don't know and will likely not know.

Honestly, they need to just make a policy and stop giving in to parent complaints. This is why we are here in the first place. Originally it was 3-7 for Club and 8-12 for Lab...they bended to parent complaints because timmy needed to be with sally. If they bend back again to parents demanding their 11 year old be in...eventually we end up with those same parents complaining the next year for their 12 year olds to be in as well and we are back to square one.
They won’t change it back now no matter how many complaints they get

No matter when they changed it, it will always be within the no cancellation timeframe/“I cruise in 3 days/weeks” etc for people

That hasn’t been the only case of misconduct between kids that is coming from what I’ve heard…

In several different cruise groups people have reported issues of older kids hurting/hitting/saying vulgar things to younger kids.

My kiddo herself had an older kid say very inappropriate things to her one time in the club that made her not want to return the whole cruise.

I get how people are upset but 3-12 is just to huge an age group especially in the modern world

Exactly...and as they should. I get people wanting a gray area because of the short notice as a transition period for families in the cancellation period, but you just open a can of worms up when you dip into Gray areas.

I understand you are all upset and angry. But from your friendly resident CM, please don’t take it out on the YA CMs when you are onboard. They had nothing to do with the changes and are freaking out too. There is nothing they can do for you to change it or make exceptions, so as my friend Cindy would say, please be kind 💙

If today they stated starts June 2024 , then other than concierge everyone else would easily be change mind mode. But they don't want people to do that. But I will be shocked if they deny someone wanting to cancel due to a major policy.

Yeah that wouldn't fly, I have Palo brunch booked 🤪
It would be no difference than having half open for the younger kids and the other half being an open house like they do now. As long as there is always supervised in one space, Disney could provide some edge age content in the other half.

That is because Disney was so short sighted when changing the clubs from two different age groups to 3-12 all at once. People back then stated that it would be a bad idea in the long run and sounds like it has proven true. Too bad they didn't realize it before they designed the wish and fantasy.

I was shocked they told me on the phone this morning to go talk to the CMs onboard when we get there - DCL is totally throwing the CMs under the bus on this. I feel sooooo bad for the CMs!!! It's not their fault at all, but they're going to get the brunt of this as the frontline people. They should be mad at DCL too, it's so crap of DCL to put them in a position having to deal with angry parents.

The difference is that Open House times are usually during quieter times when there are less kids or when CMs are needed elsewhere/breaks etc

Hi. I agree with the frustration. My concern is similar but slightly different. I understand they are being strict about not letting above 10 in the younger kids clubs. My question is did they also change the policy about a 10 year old being able to go to Edge if they have a sibling in edge and the parents sign the consent form? We were on the wish in August and our then 9 year old girl was bored (when she was younger she loved the club). She is now 10 and we are going on a B2B on the wish over Christmas because we knew she was 10 and could go to Edge. She is going to be devastated (and us parents struggling to keep her entertained) if she cannot sign in to Edge. Does anyone know?

I’ve been told by my friends in YA that with increased numbers in Edge it will be difficult for 10s to go up. But ask when you get onboard as there may be fewer tweens on your sailing
Edit: and it was never a “policy” for 10 year olds to be able to go to Edge. Became a thing because parents complained their 10 year old was bored and wanted to move up so DCL let it happen when needed

I wish they would go back to having the two clubs split (which I understand isn’t possible in the Wish). I can’t imagine having to supervise the current age range, I think 3-10 is still too big of a difference.

Mags2002, is there a point where the club is considered full and they don’t let more kids in?

No, due to the way to bookings work for a cruise, it ensures that there is room on your sailing for your child/ren to go to the youth space for their age
