I have to find a very specific type of book for a class I'm taking. I have looked around amazon, but would love some help if anyone has ideas

It needs to be a book appropriate for ages 0-8 (ie could be 2-5 or 4-7 etc)

It must be about a child in a family of some type

It can not have talking animals

It cannot be a nuclear family (ie a married mom and dad and kids)

It cannot be a caucasian family

Any ideas:)

I had a wonderful counting book with african american children in it.

The cover was yellow, with kids and umbrellas jumping off the stoop.

The kids also had a grandparent in it.

The first line was One raindrop, fat and wet... and then it went up to like 35.

There is a series of books about a boy named Peter. Sorry, can't come up with the author's name right now. One was The Snowy Day, another was Peter's Chair. My DS loved these books as a youngster.

Too Many Tamales was the first one I thought of. I use it at Christmas time in my 1st grade classroom.

I'll think of others and post again later.
