We're off to HHI next week and will rent bikes for the grownups. We have two kids, ages 6 and 3. I assume we can rent a bike seat for the 3yo (he's tiny and weighs only 26 pounds so size and weight are not an issue). The 6yo rides a 16" bike (the 2nd smallest they make). She doesn't need training wheels, and we really don't want to have to drag hers down with us if we don't have to. Do they rent bikes this small? Do we need to go somewhere else on or off the island to get a bike seat and small bikes?

BTW, Tommy - we're looking forward to your treasure hunt, and we promise to add something if we take the last item.

When we were there last week we rented a bike with baby seat for our small 3 year old and got a bike with a ``tag along'' (think regular bike with an attachment that has its own pedals and seat) for the 7 year old to ride with dad.

When we tried to go thru Disney, they didn't have what we needed at that time, but gave us the phone number of a company that would deliver free of charge and they honored disney's rates. Worked great!

DH said he noticed other kids on smaller bikes that were rented...but if you plan on biking to beach house or on beach you might want to consider the tagalong as an easier way for him or her to get there.
Have fun!

Thanks,

I didn't even think about a tagalong - that's a great idea. Do you happen to remember the name of the bike rental company?

I think it was palmetto dunes bike rental, or something similar, the onsite rental place will give you the number and if you tell them that you are a member they will give you the same rates as disney (I assume that is a good thing) Have Fun!!
