Does anyone have any experience with kids ATV's? Any info or opinion on the Chinese brands? We want a 70 or 90 that has a foot break and is affordable and it seems like the off-brands are the only ones that fit both criteria.

My DH looked at those Chinese models for himself (we do not allow our children to ride ATVs) and his opinion was they aren't even worth 1/2 the money they cost. Now, this comes from a man that works on engines -- he has bought a ATV that has been sitting outside with kudzu growing on it for years and has it running in about 1 hour. His opinion is a Honda is going to hold its value and run forever. Now, that is just his opinion. I am sure there will be those that say these are a good value.

I will add -- that if you are dead set on buying your children an ATV-- why don't you look at a used one. Lots of people buy them and the kids can only ride them for a couple of years before they out grow them.

before you invest money on one....look at the your state rules on them being ridden by a young person.....Our state requires a course that has to be taken first and they cannot be driven without an adult present. Also they have to wear a helmet until 18.......Some areas permit them as long as they stay on their own property without an adult...
We made our grandkids wait until they were 14 before they took their test and also they only ride with us with them..we also have Hondas
Now my son in law sold them at his motorcycle shop for a few years and some were not worth the time to go and pick them up......do some research and see what the warrantee is...I remember my son in law saying that they would not sell certain brands because they would be in the shop more to be repaired then the people were riding them

We have a 125 Yamaha breeze that is great. It has never caused us one bit of trouble and it has a regulator that you can set the speed. I think that the smaller yamahas have the same thing, plus they are automatic, no shifting required.

The off brands are just that off!! We made the mistake of purchasing a Kasea because it was brand new and cheap. Big mistake our DS got to ride it 4 times!!! It has been to our local cycle shop 3 times and there is nothing to do for it you cant get parts for it. We figured for the price even if he only got a few years out of it that it would be worth it. Well he didnt even get a month! Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki are not off brands Polaris is also a good quad. Check e-bay we bought our oldest DS a polaris trail blazer less than a year old with about 5 hours on it and paid 2100.00 for it. It has been such a nice quad that I bought a polaris trailboss for myself on e-bay that was 1 years old with very limited hours for 2000.00 My DH has a worked Yamaha Banshee that is not for someone that doesnt know how to ride. He is a yamaha man and he really likes the polaris quads also which says alot. I have seen nice 50cc and 90cc polaris quads on e-bay very reasonably priced just look for someone in your area or within a comfortable driving distance for you. Or you could have it shipped but that usually runs between 300 and 500 dollars. We found my DS's quad in jersey and the man met us halfway and my quad in jersey about an hour and half away. good luck.

My 2 sons each had a few but I think they were Hondas and Suzukis. It was a 9th birthday rite of passage.
