Kids at WDW bars and lounges--are they allowed??

My son just turned 13. He has come with us to Disney since he was 4 and we have had no issues bringing him to any lounge/bar/restaurant on property (or anywhere in the US for that matter). We make sure he has something to occupy himself and that he is included in our conversations and activities. If a child is well behaved and the parents are engaging the child, there is no reason that a child can not accompany their parents to a bar. Every family is different and it’s not really fair to say all children should be banned just because they are children.

We were at Tambu Lounge yesterday afternoon. A group of with a very "precocious" child came up and the child, about 6 years old, climbed up on the bar stool and helped himself to a hand full of cherries out of the bar garnishes. One of the adults in the group told him that he couldn't sit at the bar. The bartender said that it was allowed but told them that he couldn't touch the bar fruit/garnishes. The child and one adult sat, there were only two available bar stools, and the two other adults stood behind. The child once again got into the bar garnishes, pulled out a handful of straws and umbrellas and had a good old time. None of his adults said a word. The bartender came back and again said that the child could sit at the bar but couldn't touch the garnishes. The adults said nothing. They ordered food and drink, but the child - who I'm guessing did not hear the word no very often - became bored and wanted to leave. One of the adults left with him and the others stayed and dined. My point is that well behaved children, particularly in the afternoon, are ok by me at any time. Badly behaved children, or adults, are never okay.
Badly behaved adults ruin it for the rest of us.

THE QUESTION OF THE DAY:
. . . Is it the child who is uncultured or the parent ?

wow, zombie thread. The kids are still allowed at the bars. Exceptions are Trader Sam's after 8 pm and Jellyrolls (Boardwalk) which is 21 and older at all times.

My opinion is that a bar at WDW is not your typical bar. Just remember that only credit cards are accepted so make sure you sign your 3 yr old up for a card before they try to order a drink. :)

Why I love Jellyrolls! No kids! I remember taking my DD who was in high school to lacrosse tournaments. In NJ kids were not allowed to sit at the bar, even in the hotel. As a solo traveler who has wanted to eat at the bar, thinking of Tune-In Lounge at the moment, families at the bar with kids who were just taking up seats were a problem for me.
