I kindly disagree.. I have very high expectations of my kids and he really was not making much noise... their talking voices were louder than my child. Furthermore... it was not my fault that the tables are clearly to close to one another.
I made no comment on your expectations. And I feel certain that your child was acting normally for a child his age. I only noted that those with kids DO tune out or rationalize their behavior in a way that non-parents don't. If you don't want to acknowledge that, then I really don't know what to say.
Two points: 1) It's not always the volume of the child's noise that is disturbing. We tune out "conversation" (in a normal tone) but are alert to fussiness from kids (as we are genetically designed to be--that's why we do something about it). 2) while it's not your "fault" that the tables are too close together, you did choose to eat here with small children.
Since the OP asked whether she should eat at Le Cellier with small kids, I was trying to offer a perspective on what she might face. Enough from me.
