Last year I had to be in EVERY character picture with my son. Although that was fine I really wish now that I had pictures of him alone with them. Although this trip is a surprise, I've tried talking to him (4 now) about on our next trip taking pictures with the characters without mommy being in the same picture. He's dead against that. :confused3 I'm hoping that he'll surprise me and go for it. He's fine sitting with Santa for pictures...but characters he's just a little leary of. Even at Goofy's Kitchen he had to sit on my lap to get a picture with a character. If I have to be in them, that's fine......better than nothing, but does anyone have any "tricks" that might help me out here? I'm hoping that since our character breakfast is early on in this trip that 'might' help a little.

we never used autograph books at first and my oldest HATED going anywhere near a character. once we got the books, that was my trick. he wasn't so scared to walk up to them with something in his hands.

it was funny, cuz when he was little, he was pretty much the only BOY alone in line to see the princesses. he didn't mind the face characters at all, just those with a mask.

I too suggest the autograph book. I didn't think DS would be into that, but on his first character encounter on the first day of our September trip, he saw all the other children with the books, and decided that he would like one too. With that book, he's fearless. :)

So that might be the way to do it. Or say that YOU need to take the pictures (even if you're doing photopass) so he gets to see them alone?

Or just take pictures of him wandering *near* the characters. :)

Last year we did do the book, didn't work. He had no problem going up with me, and he'd even hand them character the book and pen but as for a picture alone...no way. He may surprise me this year....I'm thinking that maybe if he sees me do a few by myself he'll step up after me?

Well my DS is 3 & I;m hoping he'll do the autographs bc g-ma made him a book & who knows when we'll get back? Here's hoping the book works for us like it did everyone else.

DD at 4 was scared of the characters & the only pics I have of her w/ them is at her b-day dinner at Goofy's Kitchen. She REFUSED to talk to them, look at them & I could get her to do the macarena either!

My fingers are crossed.....
