7,3,1. babe is in bed around 8-830, wakes up for good around 7am. school year younger 2 are in bed at 8pm and asleep by 9pm. both wake up around 7am. for the summer we let them stay up until 830-9pm.
for weekend parties and such my oldest 2 even as 2-3 yo's would sometimes stay up until 11pm-midnite. sure it was very rare but if we have an outing and the kids are behaving and having fun, the adults are behaving and having fun, i dont see the harm in allowing a child to stay up late every now and then.
if the kid is obviously having a meltdown then yeah, cut the plans short and head home if its late already.
i do understand schedules are important. im more strict about nap times though then night sleep times as my kids seem to do okay the next day behaviorwise if they miss an hour or two of nighttime sleep.
if its a holiday though and theres tons of stimulation and expectations for them to really behave (vs. a casual outing at someones home), i will NOT allow them to stay up very late at all because they just dont behave well.
