On the sign in and out thing : even if you don't give sign out priviledges, the lab may 'forget' and send a child on his/ her way accidently. We didn't give my learning disabled nine year old this priviledge because we felt he couldn't handle it. Sure enough he got lost on his way to the cabin. Make sure that you give some instruction on what to do in case this happens.
Also, do they still hand out a pager if all your kids are old enough to sign out themselves? I'm ready for them to have complete independence this time but the pager would be nice to have some idea what they are up to.
