Hi! How is everything going?
Oh and I see your getting closer to that DVC reservation.

Hey girl! Just settling down from all the bat mitzvah hoopla. Oh my hell, I cannot believe that Chloe's is next year. It might take me that long to recover. :faint:

Hey there girlie!! :goodvibes I am back from SSR- it was an EXCELLENT trip with my boys- we ended up in the Springs, which was PERFECT, because we were so close to everything there. :goodvibes I am writing a TR, you know, in case you'd like to come by and say hi or somethin'.....:rolleyes1

:goodvibes I found you, I read, I posted, you saw. Great report. Just what I needed after this crazy last 2 weeks.

Hi there!!

I wanted to drop in and say hi and tell you that I am starting to plan my second honeymoon at WDW. The original was at Disneyland, so here we go!! In 2012 we are going to WDW>

:thumbsup2 Excellent!!!! When in 2012?

DH and I were just talking about celebrating our 20th in WDW in 2013.

There are semi-major changes in my plan for October 2012.

Looks like DH wants to visit our friends in Miami for a few days prior to our trip. I told him that's great but it cannot cut into our WDW time. ;) He agreed. We'll fly into Miami (cheaper :woohoo:), stay for 2 days, rent a car, and drive to Orlando. Our friends have a beautiful home in Miami and are terrific.

He also said he doesn't want to change resorts during our 12 day stay. He says it's in a PITA for him. :lmao:

Chloe is still hanging onto OKW for the second half of the trip no matter how much I beg for the THV and BWV. She says she loved the room at OKW. I told her, of course she did, it was a Grand Villa but we wouldn't be in the same room. She says she doesn't care and hates change- she's so funny and has such an old soul for 12.

Interestingly enough we will be there less than a month after you. Kind of familiar. When I saw your dates I though how funny it would have been if I had picked the same dates. Just think last year at this time we were busy planning our June Disneyland trips.:rotfl:

:thumbsup2 Great minds think alike. October/early Novemeber is supposed to be the perfect time in WDW according to my sources. :teacher:

Where are you going to stay? Have you thought about renting DVC points?

I am considering renting DVC points but I just have no clue. We have never been to WDW so I am flying blind and trying to make all these decisions. I am researching it like crazy.:goodvibes

WDW is amazing! I love Disneyland but MK is bad ***. pixiedust: Let me know if you have questions. The Passporter is a terrific resource.

Renting is actually fairly easy so I have heard. I have a friend who rents often, I'll ask her the process. :goodvibes

Oh thanks I would love to get any help that is offered.

I've read a lot because we've actually thought about renting some. We have 125 left from this year that we need to bank by July. Not sure what we'll need for next year still as no one can agree on where to stay. :rolleyes1

I think the going rate is about $10 per point unless people need to dump them quickly and I've seen as cheap as $7 per point.

There is also a site called David's Disney something or another that acts as the go between for renters and rentees; he takes the risk out but it's $13 per point.

I truly haven't read much about people getting screwed over on either end especially here on the DIS.

In so many ways renting points sound good to me. But Scotty is working tons of overtime. If I am able to bank all of the overtime I can stay at whatever resort I want to. Is it cheaper to rent the points and stay or the just go the normal route?

It depends on so many factors really. Do you do dining? Is *free* dining that's not really free an option? The time of the year is the biggest issue. Gimme possible dates/days of the week and I'll let you know what how many points it would be. :goodvibes I am guessing you'll do a Studio as it's just you and Scotty. Studios can be really low points. :thumbsup2

Well, right now we are looking at November 12 thru November 19. 2012. My thinking was that I really want to see everything that I want to see.

That's perfect without kids. :thumbsup2 There is SO much to see. You'll find Disneyland/DCA tiny but still magical after visiting WDW. Epcot and AK are amazing. DHS is my least favorite park even though it has some of my favorite rides. :upsidedow There iseems to be a lot of wasted space at DHS.

The dining options are 1,000x better than at Disneyland.

I'll check the point amounts. :flower3:

Oh thank you that would be wonderful!

I am so excited to see everything! I love Disneyland and I am sure I always will but I want to see WDW at least once.:goodvibes

All Studios:

AKV Jambo, standard view: 88

AKV Jambo, value view: 69

AKV Jambo, Savanna view: 116

AKV Jambo, concierge: 132

AKV Kidani, Savanna view: 116

AKV Kidani, standard view: 88

BLT, standard view: 104

BLT, Lake view: 123

BLT, Theme Park view: 146

SSR: 102

BCV: 107

VWL: 107

BWV, Boardwalk view: 107

BWV, Preferred view: 107

BWV, standard view: 78

OKW: 78

I've only stayed at OKW and AK Jambo at WDW. I do know that a lot of the Studios at AKV end up with a Savanna view even though they claim Value. You'll see there is a huge difference in points not only by resort but by room catagory.

I fought going to WDW for about 2 years- felt like I was cheating.

OKW is also the only Studio that has 2 queen beds instead of a queen bed and pullout sofa sleeper. Not super important for just the two of you but good to know otherwise. ;)

Oh wow. Okay. Thank you for all of that research. Now when you rent someones points they are for a specific resort correct?

Not necessarily. For example SSR/THV is my home resort so I can make reservations at 11 months before the trip. I can make reservations at 7 months out at any of the other DVC resorts. :thumbsup2 I think the only time it's particulary difficult to get a resort at 7 months is during the Christmas holiday from what I've read. We had no issue getting a 2 bedroom at the GCV over Father's Day at 7 mos out. :woohoo:

Oh okay. I wondered about that. I would love to buy some.

And truly, if you can spend $780 for 8 nights in a Deluxe DVC Studio, it's a no brainer. For gits and shiggles, I priced out a Value room and it says $827, no joke.

Isn't that outrageous? I think one resort where you really save money with the DVC is at the GCH. I want to to buy points. I just need to come up with a logical argument in the favor of buying it.

You save with all of them truly depending on how you prefer to vacation and how many are in your family. With 5 of us, at WDW, we would have to book Deluxe rooms aside from the only Moderate (POR) that fits 5. The standard rooms are small. I love having room to live and having a kitchen is a total plus.

When you go to WDW do the DVC tour. It's an hour, you get a ice cream, a butt load of FPs, and it's interesting.

Stay there, let Scotty feel the magic (no pun intended). That's what I did with Michael. Plus Jenna's hubby Nate was a huge catalyst in us buying. We were on a trip with them, staying at the OKW in a Grand Villa and AKV in a 2 bedroom. Out of the blue Michael asks if I want to take the tour. I was like: hell yeah! :woohoo: Jenna and Nate took our kids back to the AKV pool and 2 hours later we came back proud owners of DVC.

You can also book outside of Disney which some people strongly suggest against :rolleyes1
but DVC is the majority of our vacation budget. We booked an amazing one bedroom, full kitchen, ocean view room in Cabo 2 years ago. :cloud9:
