We are cooling down. It is about 10 or so degrees cooler today. We went down into the low 60's/high 50's over night which meant I actually got a good nights sleep for the first time in days.

:goodvibes I'm glad you were more comfortable. That's how I feel about the cold except it's just a hate hate relationship. I can stand it for about 3 days and then I resemble Jack Nicholson in The Shining.

That is how I feel about the cold too.

I guess growing up in Southern California had more of an impact on me than I realized before moving to Utah. You'd think after 18 years I would be semi-used to it but every year I hate it just the same. It doesn't diminish.

That's me and the heat. I like a nice 80 degrees, I am even happy with 85 but don't let it get any hotter thank you.:rotfl:

Have you stayed at POR? How many people?

I haven't stayed at POR. It would be 5 people. Possibly a few more. If it's 5, I'll book 2 rooms. I have been spoiled by DVC and BLT and don't think that many peope need to share a bathroom on vacation. :rotfl:

:rotfl: Michael is the same. Anything fun planned for the weekend?

:lmao: I have a feeling you aren't going to love the POR. ;) It's nice but not anything like any of the DVC properties. Their food court is great though, fun pool. It feels cramped with 5 though for sure. And there is not kitchen. :faint: :scared1:

Not at all Scotty works all weekend and on Monday. Tuesday will be his only day off so I figure he will spend all his time on the bike.

What about you? Do you have anything fun planned?

I was born and raised in Maine and I still hate the cold. It isn't as cold here in Nebraska but I still hate it.

:rotfl: I'l probably end up booking an Epcot resort for extra days and to try a new resort. The new POR rooms look great. But, after DVC, it will be difficult to stay in smaller rooms.

First of all YAY for your 11/30 wait list coming through!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I confess, I was just there for one night before BCV and while I haven't been staying DVC, after staying deluxe all last summer and the DVC studio on this trip it was...just a room. The grounds are lovely, don't get me wrong but it's HUGE. Lots of walking. Gorgeous and fine for me but I could see it being a little tiring if you were there with small ones going back and forth to the main pool, I'd end up defaulting to the quiet (which is what we did lol). I think I have exterior entry issues. I want to be able to look out my window without folks looking in as they walk by.

That said I didn't feel like the rooms were all that small comparatively speaking to say...the WL rooms. For space though I'd probably look at a cabin or one of those value suites as they have 2 bathrooms. Are you guys doing Universal? I'd take those 2 days and stay at RPH! :rotfl:

We were going to go out on our new boat :cool1: (see FB mobile pics) but Michael forgot he told the FD he'd sit on the interview board for new hires so....I'm taking the girls to the pool.

Gabby and Joshua get home tomorrow so I've got some cleaning to do too.

What made you move from Maine?

It's very hard actually. There is just no room to move. Before DVC it was totally fine but the kids were smaller then too.

:rotfl2: Exterior Entry Issues! That's hysterical!!!! :lmao: I love it. I agree the POR is a pretty resort but it's just hard to go back. I'd love to stay at the Poly one day but the rooms are small.

The only "room" we have ever been in that had adequate play room for our little guy was a 2 br villa at OKW. Their open floor plan is so nice and spacious.

I had to laugh about the exterior entry issues. My husband gets a kick out of me and the curtains. I stand there trying to make sure it's completely closed. If I lay back down and see any outside light coming through, I go and attempt to shut them better. Most of Disney's resorts have outside entry.

POR use to be my favorite resort. It is huge. When Anakin was an infant and we stayed there, I took him out every morning and walked around POR and FQ while dh and ds slept. Walking at a fast pace it still took a long time to cover the grounds. The kids enjoyed the pool, though we mostly used the quiet pool near our room.

We are trying POFQ for the first time in Sept. I think it will be perfect for our 7 year old! Not sure how much the 17 year old will like it. I'm just happy they have queen size beds now!

I have 2 friends love the own DVC and love the POFQ. Thery stay there on arrival night to save points. :thumbsup2 Seems more intimate than POR. Does the POFQ share a food court with the POR?

POFQ has their own food court. I've been there for beignets, yum! It's just a 10 minute walk or so to the food court at POR. POFQ doesn't have any quiet pools, but you can hop between any of the Port Orleans pools. When we stayed at POR we tried out the FQ pool. So I have swam there too! I think it will be more intimate than POR. Definately much smaller!

Yum beignets! POFQ is supposed to be very romantic too. I believe they share busses with the POR. I guess I'm in my own world when at the World and never paid attn. :rotfl: I looked at some photos and it looks very pretty.

I prefer the bigger pools; can't wait for the Paddock!

Hi Ladies! Hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July! Congrats Jenny on your waitlist coming through - I love it when a plan comes together! I can't believe how quickly this summer is going, in October I get to make the reservations for our Sept 2012 trip! Hope everyone is doing well!

The 4th was great :thanks: How was yours? How's your honey's rehab (physical) going? I agree, this summer is flying by. Kids are already home from camp and loved every minute of it. They said they want to go back next year. :woohoo:

Love making those DVC reservations. Having them makes the trip so much more tangible. :cool1:

I actually have no desire to stay in the Poly, not sure why but I think it's a Hawaii issue. I love that dated 70's Hawaii theming when I"m in Hawaii, and enjoy the restaurants but for some reason the rooms are a bit of a turn off. Love the view and grounds though!

I guess the issue isn't so much the exterior entry, it's the location of said entry. Right next to the window that faces a path people walk by. I can do exterior entry to a condo rental no problem. :rotfl: but my window facing people that close...me no likey.

I like to look out the window but those front facing ones make me feel invaded if anyone can see in at any moment and then I resent feeling locked in with the shades drawn.

It's far less about the deluxe room but way more about the balcony.

That is one nice thing about the FW cabins. Exterior entry of course but still so private!

I did not know they had queens! I will keep that in mind for the future, the double bed situation has been a big deterrent for us in the past.

Yes, the pool at POFQ will be perfect for my 7 year old, but I'm sure it will easily bore my 17 year old. I'm looking forward to the boat to DTD and seeing Yeehaw Bob's show. Other than that, I will probably be wishing there was availability at CSR.

The 17 year old loved the pool at CSR. We head there in 45 days!! This time he is going to check out the fitness center. CSR has queen size beds too! And their pool is huge! Check out my TR Disney Done Differently, several pool pics there. CSR also has THE BEST play ground on property. Plus CSR has a fitness center and spa, but the other mods do not. I made my requests yesterday, asked to be put in 1 of 4 buildings. 2 put us near the theme pool, and the other 2 near the fitness center, spa, and one of the quiet pools. Do you see my swim theme going here, lol?!

I can't wait for the Paddock pool either!

I agree, miss the balcony when staying at a mod or value! CSR and POFQ have either king size beds or queen beds since their remodeling. You can also get a microwave for free at CSR which many people don't realize.

Jenny, how is the countdown moving along? You're only a few months away from making your DVC reservation! :yay:
How did your kids like camp?

Ahhh, good point about the exterior entry! Next year is going to be a big, family trip to celebrate my niece's 1st birthday. Yes, we are those crazy people planning a first birthday at WDW and she isn't even born yet! My SIL has gone to the hospital twice in less than a week with contractions, but they were false alarms. My parents would NOT like the whole exterior entry. My dad loves sitting on a balcony/patio on vacation and having his coffee. So, POR is not going to work.

Right now, if we are just looking at DVC, we are considering a BCV/BLT split.

Yes, we are doing Universal next year. Oh, and Legoland too. We are heading over to the Dark Side for just one day this year to get our Harry Potter on. Let's see how that works. All of the Universal resorts look just lovely and relaxing.
