Is the valet parking free for members at KV? If so, why doesn't everyone use it? We will have a car with us this trip (7/09) for the first time in many years.

I never use Valet parking at any resort, simply because I don't like turning the keys to my car (rental or otherwise) over to a stranger. With Kidani, and undercover parking available there, it seems to me there is even less of a reason to use Valet parking.

You still have to tip and that can add up it if you use your car regularly.

Reasons we only did valet parking once at AKV:

1. Valet parking isn't underground, so our car was sweltering when they brought it back.

2. You can park underground and be within a few feet of the elevator that is closest to your room.

I'm sorry if this is an ignorant question - but do they have valet parking at Kidani? I haven't seen it mentioned on any of the reports

They have valet and it is free to dvc members, it is only a few bucks for tip.

They also have really great parking in the basement parking deck. We did both last week, just depending on what we were doing and planning to do next. If you have a room near an elevator and there is a spot near that elevator it is the best parking since old key west.

Only a couple of the "pods" on the far side were open right now, so nothing was very far away. We were half way through the pods on the near side, above the timon parking.

The valet is gated off outside parking right as you enter the parking deck.

I wonder if it will get more full in the parking deck when the building opens more?

Right now parking wasn't hard at all.

I worry that the pool and space and parking will be more busy when more people are staying there, right now it is wonderful and laid back.

Oh, for the question, theoretically you could be a lot closer to your room parking in the basement and taking an elevator up than you would be from the lobby where they would valet you from, depending on where your room is. Kidani is more boardwalk size than beach club size.

Our villa was closer to Jambo House than the lobby. There is no way I would pay money OOP to walk further and get into a hotter vehicle! We loved being able to park in a covered area close to our elevators. Made it easy to hop in the truck and go whenever we wanted (including trips over to the pool.)

We just returned from a trip to Kidani. It probably took 1, maybe 1.5 mins to get down the elevator directly to the car. It was a much longer walk to the lobby - plus the added wait for the valet - would not have been worth it timewise.

Yes they do.

I just got home tonight - loved the self parking! Our room was between Timon and Zazu, actually closer to Zazu but there is less covered parking there (because there are no standard views).

We checked out this morning and bussed to Epcot, I left the car under cover and it stayed cool.

As answered already, free valet for DVC members. We used valet first day we checked in then quickly realized that it was very easy to self-park, and catch the elevator. Loved the covered parking! Just got home yesterday and temps were in the mid 90's!
