Kidani Village is a mystery to me?

I have only stayed in 4 of the DVC resorts, but by far and away kidani is my favorite resort for sure .It is a long bus ride to the parks but I don't mind.

I said to my wife for our family I would rank the resorts:

1. BLT
big drop

2. BCV
3. AKL
4. BWV
another drop

5. WL

then the no interest in staying
6. SSR
7. OKW

I would have a far different rating than you! Think completely opposite!

I would say
1. OKW (love the size and just about everything else)
2. AKV (it would be 1. if it wasn't so dark and if the units were bigger)
3. 4. 5. I'm lumping together as VWL, BCV, SSR
6. BWV
7. BLT (this is my "no interest" one)

Just made reservations to stay at AKV Kidani for June 2013. We can't wait to stay here. We are also taking kids friends for their first DVC experience.

I can honestly say I don't have any "no interest" resorts. It seems like they all have at least a few good points that make me interested in trying each of them at some point. Maybe once we've had a chance to do that I'll rule some out. But anytime I'm on vacation I'm pretty happy.

Kidani can also be a bit annoying if your room is at the far end of the resort -- makes for some looong walks to the bus depot.

I would love to hear from someone who's stayed at both Kidani and Jambo who could possibly compare the looong walks. I just returned from Jambo last night and I've decided that the Africani translation for "near elevator" is "to Heyks and back" as my grandmother used to say. At check-in, the CM noted that I'd requested that, but it certainly didn't seem close to me. But I didn't complain-my standard view was one of the former savannah views, so I saw zebras and giraffes regularly. However, I was thinking of staying at Kidani and requesting "near lobby" next time because when I was over at Kidani, I could actually hear the zebra's hoofs clip-clop as they walked by the overlook. Can't hear that from the fifth floor at Jambo.

I've stayed at both. At Kidani our location was perfect; 2nd floor and near the lobby. I could smell the giraffes. :rotfl: Really, we got back one night, it was dark, I opened the balcony door, and thought: what is that smell. I turned on the light and there were 3 giraffes right there, 1 sitting and 2 standing. They couldn't have been more than 30-40 feet away. It was incredible.

I don't recall the walk at Jambo far ether but we were on the 5th floor. The 2nd at Kidani was so much better.

Kidani and Jambo both have their own unique charms - but the thing they share, other than savannahs, is long hallways. If you aren't assigned near the lobby there is always quite a walk. However, with Kidani, if you drive, it's not so bad because you can park close to the elevator nearest your room. Now THAT's convenient!

We are getting ready to make our first DVC reservation! We are confused and having issues with Jambo vs Kidani. We have never stayed there so after the first trip we will have a much better understanding. At any rate, we are renting a vehicle for this trip, but we won't for all our trips. Since we have a car would the posters here recommend Kidani? Also, I recall seeing a map somewhere along the way. But I can't remember if regardless of where you are at in Kindani is it accessible more quickly if you have a vehicle? Thanks for any input!

Diane, my choices are almost identical to yours! (except there's no Vero Beach in the list, but I assume we're talking 'on property' resorts) We Minnesotans are definitely sticking together! ;)
