Just booked our first trip in a 2 bedroom savannah view villa. Are there any bad savannah views? Was wondering if I should call and request a certain floor or room? SUggestions?

Close to lobby. I stayed in one on a lower floor close to lobby. Don't know if you can request both or not. But ask for close to lobby.

I would suggest a low floor (1st or 2nd floor). If you go higher, you may not be able to see the animals through the tree tops as well as you would on a lower floor.

Request close to lobby and if you get it you solve two potential issues. One, it automatically puts you on Sunset savanna which has giraffes. The smaller Pembe savanna does not. Two, I assume you have been to Epcot's World Showcase before. Think of yourself being at the base of WS just after crossing the bridge from Futureworld. Now walk to Germany. That is about the distance from the lobby to the end rooms on the north wing of Kidani. The issue you solve if you get close to the lobby is you will avoid that long walk.

We stayed close to the lobby on the fifth floor just this past May in a two bedroom. Can't tell you what I missed if I had been on a lower floor :) but no trouble seeing a wide variety of animals on the fifth including a rabbit! Tons of giraffes and zebras daily with a wildebeest or two plus other birds and such thrown in daily on our 6 day trip.

I think getting your request honored will depend on availability though. In our case my friend has a serious heart issue (needs a valve replaced soon) so we asked for medical reasons to keep the walking down. The minute I told my husband, I had made the request he had been disappointed. He was concerned that we would be on the lowest floor and would not be able to see anything. So, relax, it will all work out and they really do try to get the animals throughout the area.

Thank you for all of the suggestions. Much appreciated. We requested as close to the lobby as possible. They said it wasn't guaranteed, which I understand, but hopefully we get it.

Thanks again!

Our 'close to lobby' request was ignored. As a previous poster said, walking to our room is like walking to Germany at Epcot! Other guests here have told me they now don't accept 'close to lobby' as a request so try 'close to pool' or close to busses instead. You'll see plenty of animals anywhere here even from the lobby.

Actually we did not enjoy our close to the lobby room. It was too noisy. There was always noise right outside the door, as everyone passed it going to their rooms, kids even banging on our door and running down the hall.

We also noticed that the animals seem to stay closer to the ends of the building, guess they did not like the noise either.

Next time I hope to get about half way down.

I agree with Sammie. It's loud by the lobby. We were about 3/4 the way down on the main floor and it was super quiet! We didn't mind the walking as much as the long bus rides. The animals were awesome to watch!

We are hoping to stay at AKV next year at Kidani. We will just be staying in a standard room, but I was wondering, which would be better? Staying closer to the pool (if standard rooms are anywhere close to there) or closer to the main house? I believe that I would like to stay closer to the pool if possible. I think that I read that there is an internal bus service that runs between the two resorts.
Also, I thought that I had seen a map at one point telling what locations and rooms were located and what designation that they were. (standard or savannah) Does anyone know where I might be able to find that?
Thanks for your help.

If you stay close to pool you will be on the north wing of the building and have a view of the pool area that is not all that bad. The standard rooms on the south wing heading toward Jambo all overlook road, bus stop area, and parking areas. Also, those are in the first four buiding units from the lobby and there are no rooms on the road side in the last three building units on that south wing so you won't be getting real close to Jambo regardless. The walk from lobby doors to lobby doors is just under a mile; there is a shuttle bus that runs between the two.

Most of the standards are in the four building units running from the lobby north and four running from the lobby south that are on the road/poolside. However, there are now some other standard rooms in the beginning of the fifth building unit going north and then at the end of the north wing which is about 1/3 mile from the lobby.

Took our 1st DVC trip to Kidani with SV. All the rooms will have a good view.

I would suggest you check at the desk for the normal migration of the animals around the resort. They would come to the area outside our room between 2-4pm each day. Unfortunately, we were generally still in the park at that time.

After checking with the cast at the front desk, we made arrangements to be back in the room so my son (age 4 at the time) could finally see the animals.

We had the last room in Kidani, on the Pembe savannah, in January. My DGD absolutely loved the animals that were on the Pembe savannah. It's her pick for when we have her alone with us next year. It is a far walk, I have problems walking, but we saw many many animals from our balcony.
