We are booked at both right now and have to decide between the two. I have been to Wilderness before and do like it, but heard that the units are very worn. (I was there many years ago). What I don't like about Kidani is that I am reading that the walk is 1/2 mile to the Jambo building. My sister and her family are coming with us and will be staying in the "hotel" of either Animal Kingdom or Wilderness Lodge. As nice as Kidani looks, I don't want to be so far from her. Any opinions???

If you stay at the Animal Kingdom, you don't have to walk between buildings. To go from Kidani Village to Jambo House get on any Theme Park bus. To go from Jambo House to Kidani Village get on the Downtown Disney bus.

The 1/2 mile distance is from the main entrance of Jambo House to the main entrance of Kidani Village. Depending on where the room is at Kidani Village the walk can be more or less than that.

Can't you book at Jambo?
Or your sister could book at Kidani.
It would probably be cheaper for her to rent points then pay regular price.
But it really is not that far.
We had friends with us on our July trip, we were at Kidani, they were at Jambo.
We used the pool at Kidani and the restaurants mostly at Jambo.
We really didn't have a problem.

I don't think Wilderness is that worn as of my last stay there (3/09), but I would pick Kidani (or Jambo) anyway.

Love the animals, love the resort.

If you plan to stay in Jambo you should be pretty close to the regular rooms, otherwise I would stay at VWL.

If you do decide on Kidani, look at the map and request a room closet to Jambo House.

Good Luck with your decision!

does anyone know the building numbers of those kidani buildings closests to Jambo? We have a dedicated 2 bedrm villa if that makes a difference right now.

Maybe it's just me, but I think the whole distance thing between Kidani and Jambo House is overrated. Yes, it can be a bit of a trek, but it is doable by foot or by any of the park busses that stop by regularly.

We've not stayed at VWL, but I can tell you that we absolutely fell in LOVE with Kidani!

Kidani Village is one building. You could request the South end of the building. That will be the portion that runs from the lobby towards Jambo House.

We haven't stayed at WL yet so I am no help there but we did stay at Kidani and we loved every single second of it. You get an extra bathroom at Kidani which for us is a HUGE plus.

When we went we stayed in the second to last room towards Jambo and it was a few minute walk to Jambo. We would actually get off the bus at Jambo and walk to our room that way. This way the trek to the room was mainly outdoors and I didn't have to remind my kids to be quiet while walking down the hallways and they could get rid of their excitement from the day. When we stay again I will request area again. It was so quiet down there and the savannah veiw was amazing. Although I have no clue how to ask for that area LOL.

If you pick Kidani it truely is amazing!!! From on Cape May county res to another!!

Kidani Village rooms in the 72XX, 73XX, 74XX and 75XX ranges will be in the portion between the lobby and Jambo House. The higher the last 2 numbers the closer to Jambo House the room will be.

Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge recently went through a refurb, so the villas are definitely not worn.

You really can't go wrong with either.

As for the distance between Kidani and Jambo, it's really not that bad. And you can easily get to Jambo from Kidani by boarding any bus that comes by except for DTD.

If you've been to Wilderness before but have never been to AKV, I would go with that. :)
