For those of you who have stayed here, what room would you recommend/request? We have two young children ( 2 & 4 ) thanks!

I wouldn't request a room because you probably won't get it and where do they put you when you don't get it. Sunset Savanna, do you want to be close to the lobby? Will you have a car, using the pool?

No car. Plan to use the pool daily. We def want sunset savanna Do they put you someplace where you don't want when you request? We were hoping near lobby or pool, 2nd or 3rd floor. i had planed to do my request through touring plans and give them an exact room. Your thinking it may be pointless? Thanks for the feedback

What I am trying to explain is if you request a specific room if it's not available, as a room assigner I don't know why you requested it.

You are better off to make 2 requests like sunset savanna, close to pool.

Requesting specific room can be done but it is the least likely request to be met. If you make a location request, and they cannot meet, the default is to put you anywhere in the resort that is open and not try to find something close to what you want. Thus, requesting a specific room could result in your being as far away from that room as you can possibly be at the resort.

You should instead request something more expanded as to a location. In your case, you could request sunset savanna view and close to the Rafiki elevator (down that elevator to ground floor gives you shortest possible walk at the resort to an entry gate to the pool area) or just close to pool. You could also add lower floor (the "lower" floors are 2 and 3).

The requests should be made through Member Services and then when you do online check-in you should skip the request page in that process. The requests offered are more limited than you can make through MS and if you use that request section, your MS requests will be overruled. If you are renting through Disney, you may be limited to the type of requests offered on that check in page

Thank you - Would you recommend faxing it over as well or is a phone call enough? Should I do it through touring plans as well, or not needed?

Your request needs to be added to the reservation by DVC MS. They don't accept faxes and phone calls end up at a call center.

You are no longer supposed to fax any requests to a resort if you have a DVC reservation. You need to make requests through whomever you made the reservation. If you rented from a DVC owner directly or through a broker like David's, you need to contact the owner or the broker to have the requests made through Member Services. If you reserved through Disney, I am not sure whether you can make any request except those allowed when you do online check-in at 60 days out but you can call Disney to find out. If you made the reservation through a travel agent, and thus ultimately through Disney, it is the same issue and you should find out through the travel agent what you can do.I do not know whether Touringplans can even put in requests for you since I have had little contact with that site.
