Does anybody know if they have certain floors/areas closed for this already?

We arrive in something like 55 days. I want to add a room request, but I am not sure what I should do. Yes, I know requests are just that....requests. :) I am easily woken up with noise, even with earplugs.....so I am hoping to get some kind of idea what to request beforehand or upon arrival.

TIA!

Wow They took the whole right 1/2 of the resort out of operation. I thought they would do something similar to what did recently at Bay Lake.

They did half of one wing at a time at BLT? So is it like 1/4 of BLT? Did they need to move any people at BLT then?

I don't know if they had to move anyone at BLT. We stayed there in July and they had finished 3/4s of the rooms and were only left with the lower levels on the north wing. I do think the north elevators were out of service. Doing it this way should allow them to move quicker without having to work around nearby occupied rooms.

They probably blocked out that number of rooms before the 11 month booking window started, or at least early enough that only one wing worth of rooms could be booked, so that they wouldn't have to move anyone.

Wow they're doing half of the resort at a time, amazing. Honestly there's no other good way to do it otherwise guests would have to walk through active work hallways to get to their villas.

I was hoping there was an outside chance in getting a refurbbed room over NYE trip

They could open sections starting at the community hall and then working their way out, but honestly they're probably going to open this entire half of the resort and then close off the other half. I wonder if they'll also refurbish the common areas like the lobbies and shop.

That is my expectation.

I have 4 nights booked in April. I asked for a room close to the Pumbaa elevator. What would you say are my odds of getting a refurbed room?

I've not seen it first hand, but reports (and photos) indicate they have the sections around the Timone and Zazu elevators closed off now. The means Rafiki and Pumbaa sections will be the second half of the refurb - so you might be ok in April getting a fresh room, or they might be finishing up the second half of the work.
