Kid swapping?

I have heard this term on other post. I think it has something to do with taking turns standing in line with kids--could someone please explain it to me??

on some of the rides when your child is too small or too scarey - one of the parents can still ride (with any other children), then the other parent can ride (again with any other children) - you wait and do it at the exit (not entrance of the ride) - although you still have to talk through the lines.
