Usually when we travel to Disney we leave the two yr old at home but we figured we would bring her as she can do some of the rides


How does the child swap work with rides? I guess it used to be a handout you would get but now it’s digital?

I don't know, hopefully someone chimes in. It used to be so easy and useful with the paper passes. Last trip I didn't even bother as it just seemed more hassle than it was worth.

The party riding first must have a fast pass. Everyone enters the fast pass return line together (child included) and when you get to the scanning point tell the CM you would like a child switch pass. They will take your park ticket/AP and manually put a child switch pass onto your ticket (you do not need a FP). Ask them how long it’s valid for as they will expired generally within an hour. When first party is done riding switch off the child and enter the FP line and scan your ticket. Up to three people can return on a child switch, additional riders must have the child switch put on their ticket when the first party scans their fast pass. Additional riders also do not need a fast pass, just the child switch.

I’m going sept 23-27th. Not sure how busy it will be. I know RSR FP go fast. I wonder if I’ll need max pass for this trip

MP is a luxury, not a necessity. You'll still have regular FP to fall back on. We have posters here who still don't use MP for a variety of reasons (e.g. budget, cell phone/data issues, personal choice, etc.), and with good planning, they report still getting plenty of rides done in a day. Other posters report being so used to MP now that they couldn't possibly do a day in the parks without it. But as nice a perk as it is, MP really isn't absolutely necessary for having a great day in the parks. For example, if your smartphone broke, you could still have a really good day using regular FP.

How does the child swap work with rides?

For us, the hardest thing about child swap was finding someone who wanted to swap for our teenager...

We never did a child swap with a FP.. We would just tell the loader that we wanted to swap. One of us would move through the vehicle to the exit side with the kiddo and then wait, then they swapped us on the next pass. This was for Indy, Matterhorn, and Thunder Mt.
