Kid-friendly restaurants

I'm starting to try to sort out our spring break trip coming up in March and looking for ideas for family/kid friendly places to eat off site. We always stock up on breakfast and lunch/snacks at the grocery store on the way in, but it's nice to not have to worry about dinner for the whole group (9 of us) on vacation. We'll do Makahiki one night and Monkeypod another, but it would be great to have a few more options within easy driving distance. Roy's & Mina's, while lovely are not exactly going to work for the younger kids in the group

There are plenty of place to eat in Kapolei, the town closest to Aulani. And kids are welcome everywhere, as long as they are not terrors of course. I love using Google maps and looking for restaurants. They will pop up on the map, show you the menu, hours, website, etc and you can go through and pick what sounds good. Kapolei has pretty much every type of food available.

Why won't Roy's work for the kids?

Our kids have been going to Roy’s since they were 6, 4 and 2 - they are now 16, 14 and almost 12 and still talk about how much they miss eating there. Roy’s has a kids menu along with little activity packs. Ask for a seat outside then they can watch for swans on the golf course.

Is Longboards still open at the Marriott? That’s another good family restaurant.

There are heaps of chains at Kapolei that you could go to.

Are you going to be doing things around the island on your trip, or staying at the resort pretty much the whole time? I rarely find myself in Ko Olina at dinner time, aside from a few nights when we do Makahiki/Monkeypod/Luau.

If you're going to be out and about, I'd pick something on the North Shore, something by Pearl Harbor, something in Waikiki, something downtown Honolulu, something on the windward side, etc. depending on where you'll be rather than coming back to the resort area for dinner every night.

For Pearl Harbor, we really like Restaurant 604. Comfortable atmosphere... not fancy, but fair prices and good food.

We’ve been to Roy’s with kids and it was totally fine. And Mina’s fish house is excellent with young kids - they bring them a watermelon slice and have a great kids menu.

Almost all Hawaii restaurants are family/kid friendly. The only exceptions I can think of are La Mer, 53 by the Sea, Michel’s and a few others in Waikiki/Downtown.

If you’re looking for some fun, novel restaurants, the kids might like Genki sushi. You can choose from pre-made sushi circulating on a belt. If you order from a menu, they’ll send the food out on a little bullet train.

At Gyukaku, you can grill your own meat, veggies, and s’mores right at the table.

Zippy’s and Rainbow Drive Inn are quick, local favorites. The Ka Makana Alii Mall has a decent food court as well as several chain restaurants, including a Johnny Rockets w/arcade. Don’t miss Uncle Lani’s poi mochi for dessert!
