Kid Friendly BLT ???

We only stayed there one night and although we liked the pool area we won't be going back any time soon. I think those balconys are a tragic accident waiting to happen. We were standing on the balcony and in an instant my 2 yr old had his foot on the top of the concrete portion of the balcony and was trying to climb up it. We ripped him off the railing and never went out there again. We expected the sliding glass doors would have the secondary high safety locks like the DCL cabins but they didn't.

:scared: I think it was your thread I read about the danger of the BLT balconies! I am terrified to stay there and feel I watch my kids like a hawk. I plan to request a ground floor room just to be safe. We are only staying 1 night and move over to AKV so I will have a good comparison when I get home.

This is the first I've written about it so it must be someone else with the same concerns but I'm not surprised.

Just back from 2 wk stay at BLT with 3 yr old we loved it we were lucky enough to have a 1 bed apartment which was lovely and had so much space was bliss. We could walk to MK, monorail to epcot so only needed buses to HWS & AK. We loved the beach at the CR The pool at BLT with its zero entry it was bliss.
Down side for me was indeed the balcony but we didnt use it so door stayed lock nearly all the time, to be honest it was covered in dead bugs which was gross so even without DS 3 we still would not have used it.
And the view from our room was amazing 7834 view of lake, CR & beach & pool area fab.
And we got full size crib for DS it was brand new & fitted in bedroom no problem at all.
Though have to say we seen a studio in BLT & if you are using sofa bed not sure where crib would go !!
Also have to say after 14 nights of pageant & fireworks we did think maybe next time we would stay some where quieter

DD(5) was in awe of BLT - just like we were. She kept pointing out various items of interest to us - - it was very cute. I was actually surprised that the CR and BLT had so many activities for children and families going on every day - for our next trip we'll definitely be taking more advantage of what is offered. :thumbsup2

Regarding the balcony, we were on the 9th floor and so I watched DD like a hawk when we were out there, and she didn't show any interest in climbing up on the concrete portion, partcularly after that we pointed out the consequences and danger of doing so. With younger children, however, I'm sure that reasoning with them would be more difficult, so I do understand that would create a source of worry when staying there.

Did you rent the crib, or does Disney provide it upon request? We're staying at BLT in 2 weeks and my 4-month old nephew definitely needs a crib instead of a pack 'n play. Thanks!

We phoned to request full size crib but also asked for one on checkin it was brought up to our room straight away we were really pleased with it only thing for me was im not very tall & it doesnt have drop down side so DH had to put DS to bed every night ! And remember to take your own crib linen as they dont provide this, couldnt fault it looked like new it was spotlessly clean.

We just came back from a long weekend at BLT. We stayed on CRO to check it out to see if we wanted to add-on at BLT or buy more AKV or VWL. We are now leaning more toward VWL or AKV (if they have good incentives some day). We LOVED the view at BLT, but I felt like I was at a Hyatt and not at a WDW resort. It's very nice to stay at BLT, but I want to own somewhere else.

I suggest staying a night to see if you really like it enough to own there.
