Kick'n It at Kidani (aka Am I Becoming a Resort Snob?)Final Update 8/20 p.54

Sorry to tell you, Living with the Land is down for refurb and I don't think its due to be back up in time for you. :sad2:

OMG!!!!!! I did not know this. Bummer, cause I really do enjoy this. Oh well... I guess its off to Storm chasers right away.

OMG!!!!!! I did not know this. Bummer, cause I really do enjoy this. Oh well... I guess its off to Storm chasers right away.

It kind of did a sneak up on us too. I think I heard they are replacing the boats. It's supposed to be down til the end of October.

Well, what a bummer to find that Living with the Land is down for refurb. I didn't think an attraction like that would be down for refurb. Oh well. :confused3

Moving on..... after our late breakfast we will head to the world showcase. I would like to spend the rest of the afternoon here, except when we go back to ride Soarin. I am hoping to see the movies in China and France. Its been awhile since I've seen either of these films. We may visit the American Adventure as well. This afternoon would also be a good time to try to Grey Goose Slushie. I've never had one and I think its darn well about time.

The other thing to consider is whether we should do some Kim Possible missions. I think this might be a good way to learn some new things about the world showcase.

When we have had our fill of epcot we will head back to POP to get ready for dinner. I hope we have time for a quick visit to the pool.

So where is dinner?...well I debated this for awhile and finally decided to try a signature restaurant in the Epcot resort area and cancel the Rose and Crown adr. For several days I could not decide between the Yachtsmen Steakhouse and the Flying fish. So....how did I finally decide? Well, I went and read the reviews on Allearsnet and I thought the reviews slightly favored the flying fish. And since we both like seafood I decided to go with FF. Our ADR is for 6pm. That should give us plenty of time to eat and then go back into Spcot for Illuminations.

So I'm interested to know if anyone has eaten at Flying Fish and what you opinion is. I'm also interested in hearing about how you would most like to spend the afternoon in the world showcase.

So that's about it for Day 2. Up next....day 3!

It kind of did a sneak up on us too. I think I heard they are replacing the boats. It's supposed to be down til the end of October.

Ahhhh..... that makes sense. I guess those boats don't last forever. I wonder if they will close down the behind the seeds tour, too. I have always wanted to do that and can never talk DH into it.

I am bummed about the Livin' with the Land refurb too. We haven't been on that ride since our first trip, despite us REALLY liking it - it just never worked into the plans on recent trips. Big bummer.

Your plans are looking really GREAT!

If I had a free afternoon in the WS I would try to make it to all the little shows they put on in each country. The marachi band in Mexico, the Fife and Drum Corps in America, the candy lady, etc.

Sounds like a great Epcot day! After reading your TR I want to make sure we check out Innoventions since we always seem to miss that. I love breakfast at Cape May and I'll be looking forward to hearing about FF!

Your trip report was GREAT! And I loved that you added your trip to Niagra Falls. Your pictures were absolutely beautiful...I've never been there nor have seen pictures like yours from anyone who has. That's another future trip to put on the list! Anyway, I'll be following your new PTR/TR - they're fun to read. :thumbsup2

I just don't want any noisy neighbors. It seems like my last couple stays at the values have come complete with noisy neighbors. I am hoping it was just a fluke.

Maybe if you let them know they are being LOUD, they will be quiet....

Yes....definately a big bummer about living with the land. I will miss it! :sad1:I was actually thinking about riding it twice.

I think I will do all the shows unless we decide to do a Kim Possible mission, which I don't know whether my DH would be up for that. I especially love the Voices of Liberty because I really want to be one. That would be my dream job! Just give me a small part. A few notes here and there!

Where is the candy lady? I am not familiar with her.

I always seem to miss Innoventions, too. I was gald that we made it into one side during our June trip. Now we must visit the other second.

Nice to see a :thumbsup2 for the Cape May Cafe. I hope we really enjoy FF and I hope someone chimes in who has eaten there (good or bad...doesn't matter cause I'm not changing it now)

I'm glad you really liked my Niagar Falls pics. My DH actually took most of them. Well actually he took the day 1 pics and I took the days 2 pics. I definately recommend it as a trip that you don't have to fly to! Thanks for following along with my TR. Glad you enjoyed it.

Maybe if you let them know they are being LOUD, they will be quiet....

OK......I know this picture HAS to be funny and you're killin me today because you KNOW I can't see it. So, I'm gonna take a stab and do this.......:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl::laughing::rolleyes1

Hi there! :goodvibes All of your plans are looking great!
Aaack! I didn't know about LWTL either! I too enjoy looking at everything there! Grrrrrrrrrr:mad:
You will enjoy FF....I ate there a few years ago....I remember what I had so I must have liked it! It was Diver Scallops over risotto....it was 3 scallops and I remember thinking I could eat way more than that but I was actually very full!!:rotfl2: They were HUGE!

Tracy

So my plan for Day 2 is an Epcot day. We did get to spend a good amount of time in Epcot during our June trip, but we really didn't spend much time in the world showcase, except to eat. So Epcot WS it is.

I hope we get up early enough for a good run. That is, after we fill our mugs with nescafe coffee. blah...but still the much needed caffiene that gets me going in the morning.
not lunch. Once I added the DxDP I knew I needed to do one breakfast. So I made a 1055 ADR at the Cape May Cafe. I like the CMC. I've eaten there twice....once for breakfast and once for dinner. I enjoyed both meals. And here's something funny....I sat at the exact same table both times. What's the chance of that happening? Of course, I think the real reason I like CMC so much is because its in the Beach Club. And everyone who "Disses" with me KNOWS I want to stay at the BC more than any other resort. So eating there makes me feel like I'm staying there (even if its just for an hour).

I also love admiring SAB. It is just the coolest. I would give anything to be able to swim there for a day. Ya know...what I should really do is call member services while I am there and see if they have an available studio for one night at the Beach club. Wouldn't that be a hoot?????? Hey...it is my anniversay trip. I wonder if I could get DH to go for that. Hmmmmmmmmm?

I think one night at the BC would be a great thing! I'd love to stay there some day which is why I have the same bfast on my list!

Can you pack a coffee maker so you can brew something better in the am? (guess there isn't one in the POP rooms?) I can't handle the nescafe more than once on a trip, we have to bring our own :)

Ooh! I've read great things about FF. It's not on my list only as it's pricey and with the kids..just not the time. Solo with DH though....fun! I can't wait to see what you think!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't know about LWTL. I should really double check attraction closing and park hours now that my trip is about 5 weeks away!

So glad to hear a good review from FF. I love :love:seafood and I :love::love: scallops, so that dish you had sounds wonderful. I had huge scallops like that when I ate at the Cali Grill. Yum....sounds so delish!

I think one night at the BC would be a great thing! I'd love to stay there some day which is why I have the same bfast on my list!

I am seriously thinking about calling when we get there. Not ahead of time, because if it works .....great, if not....that's OK. Here's what I was thinking:

Call to see if there is anything available for BC/BWV for Monday night (Epcot night)....if not......

Check to see if there is anything available for BLT for Tuesday night (MK night - Halloween party).....if not......

Check to see if there is anything available for WL for Weds night (eating at WL that night)

I think my DH would go for that because its only about 12 or 13 points for midweek. Those are really the only resorts I would like to try right now. I have heard (on the DVC board) of people getting same same day reservations, so you really never know. But, of course, I won't be disappointed if it doesn't work out either.

Can you pack a coffee maker so you can brew something better in the am? (guess there isn't one in the POP rooms?) I can't handle the nescafe more than once on a trip, we have to bring our own :)

I could, but I'm not that much of a coffee freak that I can't manage for a few days with Nescafe. If I bring some flavored creamers I will be able to make due. When there is a coffee pot in the room I ALWAYS bring my own coffee, but I'll be OK for 4 days. (I think )

Ooh! I've read great things about FF. It's not on my list only as it's pricey and with the kids..just not the time. Solo with DH though....fun! I can't wait to see what you think!

I'm glad that you have read good things about FF. I've actually only been to that part of the boardwalk once before, so I hope to wonder around the BW resort and villas and check it out more closely. then I am looking forward to walking into illiminations.

I just love your Day 2 plans!! I think you and your DH are going to have a great anniversary celebration at WDW!!!

YAY for your FF ADR! I have never eaten there but I have heard great things about the meal so I can't wait to hear your review!!!

I think you have a great plan about trying to stay at BWV or BC or trying other different resorts!! I will cross my fingers that some pixie dust will be sprinkled your way!!!

Liking your Day 2 plans! :thumbsup2 I think I want to brave the storm thing, too, so I am looking forward to your assessment on that one! I also want to do Cape May Cafe sometime, so I can't wait to hear your thoughts on that one as well.

thanks Jen. Glad you like my plans and I am really looking forward to FF, although maybe I should have picked the Yachtmens. But I don't really like looking at uncooked beef all that much.

I am gonna try for an impromptu DVC overnight. That's what the points are there for and I really won't be upset if everything is completely booked.

I think you should brave it. Will I have time to tell you about it when I get back or will you already be on your way????? If so, I could send you a text when I get done and tell you what I think.

I hope I still like Cape May Cafe. Was there last in 07 and enjoyed the breakfast very much!

I think things get a little more complicated with my Day 3 plans. For one thing, I feel like I am going to fall asleep right here, right now, so I'm not sure how far I will get with my writing tonight. For another, this is the day I THINK I am going to MNSSHP. I THINK meaning I am not 100% married to the idea. Why? Because I went to the Christmas party last year and I found it to be extremely crowded for both parades and the fireworks. Getting on rides was a peace of cake, but seeing the Christmas shows/parade, ect was just plain hectic. I am also NOT a night person because I have to get up so darn early. So my chances of closing out the party are slim. I usually need to be on my way by 11pm.

On the other hand, I have heard that MNSSHP is excellent and it really IS the party to go do. I heard the parade and fireworks are the best and the park looks very cool decorated for Halloween. So.....I'm pretty sure I'm going.....please convince me. Post pictures....tell tales.....inspire me.

So on Day 3 we plan to go to AK in the morning. I would like to get there for rope drop and head right to EE, grab a FP, and maybe even get on the ride if things appear to be moving along. I would like to do EE early in the am because I plan to deviate from my regular AK touring plans. Usually the staples of my AK day include EE, Dinosaur, Bug's life, Primeval Whirl, and Safari. I also throw in Nemo and Kali RR whenever I can. Kali is out this trip because my DH will refuse to go. Party pooper!

So other than EE, I really don't have plans to do my usual attractions. Instead I would like to try some things I don't do very often. For example, CP and Cynthia's pictures have inspired me to walk the Pagani trail. Usually its too hot or I get too distracted to concentrate on a trail. But this time the focus will be on getting decent pictures and soaking up the atmosphere.

In addition to the Pagani trail, I would also like to do Flights of Wonder. I have only seen this attraction once and I didn't have my camera. So, I think it would be fun to do this over WITH the camera. I probably won't get too many good shots, but I have to try.

I really want to see Nemo this time because we skipped over it last December and this past June. I've seen it 3 times and I love it. I can't believe they sing through the entire production. I thought it might be lyp synching, but its not.

Up next...more plans and lunch!

I was a few days behind!! Had some catching up to do! Epcot WS is my favorite part of WDW!!! I could spend soooo much time (and money) there!

You totally did not hijack my thread. I enjoy hearing about your plans. The drive sounds interesting. I am terrible in the car, so I really never want to drive unless I absolutely have to. But I love hearing about other peoples adventures and I think it is great to see different parts of the country.

I can't wait to hear about your dinner at Sanaa.

We will be going to MNSSHP that night. On the 23rd we have HS planned for the day. I'm not sure if we are going into a park after dinner, On the 24th we are spending the morning and early afternoon in MK. Our flight leaves at 5pm, so we should be at the MK until 2:30pm. I will give more details soon.

You're a sweetie, thanks!:goodvibes I think Rachel is starting to seriously doubt the wisdom of driving at this point.;)
I am excited about this reservation!

So my plan for Day 2 is an Epcot day.
I would like to get to Epcot right AFTER rope drop, because I hate standing in line.

Of course, I think the real reason I like CMC so much is because its in the Beach Club. And everyone who "Disses" with me KNOWS I want to stay at the BC more than any other resort. So eating there makes me feel like I'm staying there (even if its just for an hour).

I'm hoping we can do an add-on here in about 5 years!!

Rope drop here seemed worse than the TSM frenzy at HS!!

Well, what a bummer to find that Living with the Land is down for refurb. I didn't think an attraction like that would be down for refurb. Oh well. :confused3

This afternoon would also be a good time to try to Grey Goose Slushie. I've never had one and I think its darn well about time.

When we have had our fill of epcot we will head back to POP to get ready for dinner. I hope we have time for a quick visit to the pool.

This is the perfect opportunity to get DH to do the behind the seeds tour with you. I may be wrong, but a CM told me it should be open. (I want my ex's GF to be able to take the tour), yeppers, it will be an interesting trip!
I don't drink, but with our trip dynamics I want to get the welsh dragon from the R&C pub, to keep the glass, if the trip is anything like I think it may be, I may try one of the GG Slushies also!

You should check out the "Great Biscuits" trip report. He has some great POP pictures, including the pools!

On the other hand, I have heard that MNSSHP is excellent and it really IS the party to go do. I heard the parade and fireworks are the best and the park looks very cool decorated for Halloween.

Grrrr, you are really making me second guess myself. Connor can stay up late, but will be a wreck the next morning, but I want him to see the fireworks and parade. What to do?:confused3

MEK! Your plans look great so far!!

So many yummy meals! You will not regret Narcossees! It is seriously one ofthe best meals I've ever had! I can't wait to go back there and I can't wait to here what you think!!

As for MNSSHP, you HAVE GOT TO GO! Truly, seriously!! It's one of the best times at WDW ever! We went in 06 with 2 little ones, 5 and almost 4 at the time, and we didn't close the party out. But staying until 10:30 or 11 gave us enough time to do a lot of stuff and really enjoy it! It was so much fun! The Parade is GREAT, the fireworks are WONDERFUL and SUPER COOL!

As for pictures your wish is my command... (although I feel like I'm some how hyjacking your thread!)
