Hello,
I am interested in buying my first Mini Van. Can anyone fill me in on the Kia Sedona. What do you like about it? What do you hate about it? How is service at your dealership. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

We LOVE ours:thumbsup2 It is so comfortable and the rear seat stows away. We have the 2006 EX model and it still rides like it is brand new even with 85000 miles on it. I love that the middle windows go down and the back windows vent We Service ours at the hyundai dealership and they are great.
The only thing I hate is the DVD player you have to load it from the actual player which is a pain. Oh and I wish it had the auto sliding doors. Feel free to PM me with any questions

Oh I love my Sedona! Its a 2008 LX model. Its so great to be able to actually take one vehicle with family as well as the kids or stow the rear seats for cargo. I have it serviced at the Kia dealership we bought her from, we purchased a service plan and its been great!! If I had it to do over again, I would!!:thumbsup2

We had a 2004 Sedona that we just traded for a Toyota Sienna. We were starting to have problems with it (catalytic converter:scared1: $$ and some wheel bearings thing $$). Fortunately all was covered under warranty (which was definately a check in the "for" column. We had just finished putting over $500 into it because of some hose or valve or something (can you tell I know nothing about cars?).

I will tell you is that it didn't have as smooth a ride as the Sienna we bought and the biggest reason we traded it is that there was literally NO cargo space. We had to keep the back seats out at all times just to have room for a large grocery shopping trip. The rear seats on ours didn't go into the floor and it sounds like the newer models have that feature, but with the back seats operational, there was so little cargo space. It also sounds like the newer models may have more cargo space now but I'd certainly check out how roomy it feels in the back when the seats are up.

You get a lot of bang for the buck and a lot of bells and whistles. Would I buy another one? Probably not. We traded a Sienna for the Kia and regretted that decision pretty much from the beginning, but if Siennas didn't exist I would look into another Kia if the newer ones had more space.

We have a 2005 and LOVE it! I never thought I would feel this way about a mini van but it is great. We bought it used with 35,000 miles on it and now have 71,000.

For the gas issue I can tell you that we are in Cincinnati and have drove to Disney 3 times now. It is around 900 miles each way and our gas total was $330.00 when gas was $2.60 a gallon. That is for both ways. Hope that helps!

LOVE IT!
We get great mileage-but comparing to any minivan- we average 21mpg.

Love the stow away seating too! Lots of room

We have a 2008 LX

I'm so glad you started this thread. We have an Odessey now that we LOVE, but in a few years (I'm hoping SEVERAL years :thumbsup2) when we get another van I'm wondering why we shouldn't save $10,000 and get a KIA. Their warranty seems great??

We have a 2006 too and love it. The only thing I wish we would have is the sliding side doors. The kids love that the windows go down and they like the heat/cooling vents that they can actually feel. We'd buy another one.

We love ours! It's a 2002 and still running strong. My main complaint is that it's pretty loud inside (though this may not be an issue in newer models). I have to yell for the kids in the back to hear me if we're on the expressway! We have done many long trips in it and had no problems (knock wood). The mileage is fine, not fantastic, but certainly not horrible.

I bought one in 2006 (LX model) and couldn't have been happier. DXW has it now, though I still occasionally end up driving it, and it's running just fine... haven't had a single issue.

It's hard to argue with the price tag.

These posts make me feel better. We just bought a 2010 LX model. I wanted the EX minus the leather but they said that they stopped getting them like that?!?! I did have a 1995 Nissan Quest... a van that we had longer than two of our kids. lol. I loved that van. The kids cried when we left it at the dealership. I'm getting misty eyed just thinking about my old friend.

we have a '96 Quest...DH wants to trade it in ( for what? $1200?) the kids and I won't let him. DD almost 21 said she wants it when she graduates, DS 16 says he's going to use it for a mobile home...I figure it wil be a lawn ornament, lol...I remember when we got it as a demo with 4,000 miles on it. It's the dinodaur of the block now.

We have a 2011 that has a few extra features, but not all. I love the stowable seating and the cargo area is so deep that I can fit all the groceries for my family of 7. I love that the rear windows go down and the bluetooth option for hands free calling and listening to the kids ipods without cords. The only thing I don't like is the gas mileage. Ours is terrible. We've tried everything to make it better, but no luck.

We bought a 2010 a few months ago, had a '99 Chevy venture (minivan) before.

As far as cargo space, I think it's great. The stow-and-go seating in the back row means when you open the hatch, there is a "dug out" section that the seats would go down in - super spacious for grocery or shopping trips. Love that the rear seats will fold completely flat. Just moved two wing-back chairs in it yesterday simply by folding the seats down.

Love that the windows in the second row go down and the back ones vent, great for real air flow.

Has USB ports, "lighter" ports, and Ipod port for all the electronics.

Wish it had the push button automatic doors - this will probably be a pet peeve for the life of the car (another 10 years).

Gas mileage is not as good as my 12 year old van. It gets 21 highway and 17 city.

Had one. Hated it. It was the biggest gas guzzling van out there and always seemed to need something repaired and I bought it new. They are AWFUL with their resale value. As a matter of fact, when I traded mine in I was $8,000 upside down after 2.5 years. Still traded it in I hated it that much. I now have a Buick Rendezvous and LOVE it. It is so much better on gas.:goodvibes

I'm starting to look at cars, since I hope to buy one soon, and this is the car I want. I hope we can afford it when we are ready, lol.

But I've driven my friend's countless times, and I love it. The space, the features, all of it. The price is also definitely doable in most cases.

We had around 140,000 miles on ours and it still ran like a gem. The place I get... got... it serviced at said it could go another 100,000 as long as we kept it up like we had been. I would have kept it but we don't have enough parking. I wanted to keep mine too so I completely understand. My hubby went to look. If you hear that your hubby is going to look just run the other way... in the Quest or it may not come back.

I just bought a 2011 about 2 weeks ago and I love it!!! I owned one about 6 or 7 years ago and liked it alot but got a crazy notion that I wanted a car and traded it in....big regret! I am so happy to be bag in the minivan club and I love the new model with the stow-n-go seats...it has so much room. The kids love that the side windows go down and I love the bluetooth option!

Couldn't be happier with our purchase!!
