Since fast food fried chicken was mentioned, I was wondering why no other fast food place has thought of this.

KFC seems to have a different take on the waffles, with a heavy, Belgian-style Liège waffles instead something more like American waffles with a defined edge.

I might need to try out their chicken and waffles sandwich.

You live in a healthy food state, that's why. :)
It's a Central/Eastern Southerner soul food. Pennsylvania has their own version of Waffle Chicken with Dutch influence. They serve it with gravy rather then Maple syrup.

California is a healthy state? There are plenty of greasy spoons and less than healthy places like In-N-Out. No shortage of fast food either. I get that it's a joke, but I was wondering why I hadn't heard of another regional or national chain doing this.

I'm not a huge chicken and waffles fan, but this sounded interesting. Certainly in Oakland and San Francisco there are soul food restaurants that have chicken and waffles.

We have so many good restaurants that serve chicken and waffles, can’t imagine KFC being good in comparison.

It may be the texture that you've found intriguing rather then the taste ,which you're already familiar with. What would you anticipate it'll taste like? I've never tried this myself. I'm on a Gluten Free diet.

I tried it, but not as the sandwich, rather a breast piece and a waffle separate in a dish. They served it with a packet of syrup, but I found I liked the waffle better without it. The waffle was different than the waffles I am used to, but was very tasty.

A number of restaurants serve chicken and waffles, but I am not aware of another fast food chain around here that does. Incidentally, the nearest KFC here no longer has the waffles. Is it still being offered in your area?

Most of the places here do serve chicken and waffles with Belgium style waffles. And the chicken usually has some heat to it. The heat of the chicken, the waffle and the sweet syrup just seem to meld together

Is the KFC one served with spicy chicken?

I never really got the chicken and waffle thing, but when I was in vegas I went to a gospel soul breakfast at house of blues, it was good, but will probably will only have it again if Im there

I serve homemade Mickey waffles and chicken every year on Mickey birthday!!! don't think I would try the KFC one. Nothing beats a homemade waffle.

Bruxie is a fast food chain in southern California that primarily serves chicken and waffles.

There was that restaurant in Long Beach that got in trouble for reselling reheated chicken tenders from Popeye's without telling anyone what the source was. It was for a chicken and waffles menu item. Apparently they brought it back last October, more or less as a joke.

I haven't tried it yet, but I would. I don't recall seeing it at the smaller mom & pop places around here, so I'm not spoiled by a better version.

It's big in the South, and with Southern chains (Bojangles is one). I think Waffle House has it, too. I've never tried chicken and waffles, but I don't care much for breakfast foods generally. So, I like that you can get chicken tenders for breakfast pretty easily.

I used to like KFC before we moved here--now, I can't touch it. Just greasy and disgusting--you can get better fried chicken, literally anywhere--they take their chicken VERY seriously down here! We're partial to Smithfield's, but there's Hardee's, Zaxby's, and a bunch of other regional chains that put the Colonel to shame.

I’ve never had chicken and waffles; it’s not popular here. I definitely think of it as a southern thing, like biscuits and gravy. Sounds good, though I rarely eat fast food anymore.

California has the best chicken and waffles place anywhere. Roscoe's.

It pI finally tried it. First KFC I went to said they stopped carrying it. Another had 3 pieces (thighs and leg) with 2 waffles for $7.49. It was kind of a snack shared with my family. The waffles were kind of doughy, almost like a donut. It was heavy and gooey, almost like a dense cruller.
